Tried Bonine, not feeling too good :(

Hi, I am another one who cannot even do a mile on a bad day without sickness. I was on Magic in August and tried to go without my normal ginger pills and or Dramamine, day 2 we booked a full day tour off the boat and spent the day between the tenders and coaches, but the time came to head back to the tender I was very green and didn't have any form of help with me, I had to sit at the side of the tender boat in case sickness happened. Back on magic it was meal time and I was dragged to the meal - feeling as bad as I did I took my dds kids Dramamine (grape flavour) as the thought of taking any other meds make me feel worse. I was served apples with salt in the restaurant which were really nice. I did miss the pirate evening in bed but I put that down to the other transport I had used that day.
The next day I was ok til I went to breakfast, it was a day at sea and was rough, I took Dramamine and slept for around 30mins and was fine for the rest of the day.

I took the patch on my second cruise and woke up the second day not being able to read. I could see, but not read. I told my DH and he said, well read the side effects on the prescription- further proof that he may not be hanging on my every word. :). It was a very odd feeling and is indeed a side effect confirmed by my DH reading the script info. I took the patch off and my reading ability came back within 12 hours but then I got super sick the day I got off of the boat. I may just try homeopathic stuff next time.

Here are my two personal experiences with the patch:

1) Many years ago, I wanted to surprise DH with a trip to San Diego to go whale watching. In order to prevent any sea sickness, I proactively went to the doctor and asked him to prescribe me a patch. I put it on the night before and when I woke up the next morning I was SO SICK. I couldn't even function. Then I started throwing up. We tried to make it but never even stepped foot on that boat! LOL! DH had to pull over a few times on the freeway for me to throw up. I finally realized it must be the patch and took it off. I started feeling better

eight hours later. That patch must have been too strong for me.

2) I had two surgeries and was very sick to my stomach both times during recovery. For my second surgery, I asked the anesth. to give me anti-nausea medicine telling him how sick I had been after my first surgery. I was still really sick. Well, roll around to my third surgery and I tell the guy about my two previous experiences, and he took careful note of it. I woke up after that third surgery and felt great, not a bit of nausea! What did I find a bit later? A little patch behind my ear!

So! One good experience with a patch and one awful experience.

I am bringing Sea Bands and will get some ginger products and will go in with a great attitude and hope for the best! Thanks SO MUCH again!![/QUOTE]

Trial and error. I tried the scopalamine patch and I was very sick the 2nd day, and that was on land. e were at WDW and I wanted to do MS at Epcot. I didn't get sick with the ride it was later that evening. It could have been a different cause but when your sick you don't want to repeat what you did. Since then I have always used meclazine with good results.

I don't think I caught a bug because I was SOOOOOO out of it on that patch. Enormous thirst, spacey and just totally and completely out of it. I have never felt that way before or since wearing that patch for the whale watching trip. I don't ever want to repeat that experience! LOL! It was horrible.

Wishing us all happy cruising with no sea sickness or other illnesses while on board!!:thumbsup2
