Trevor's Star Wars Make A Wish trip

I finally had some time to download all the pics from our camera to our computer. Here are some from Kara's surgery 2 weeks ago.

Getting prepped for surgery. It was over an hour late and she was SUPER hungry and thirsty! We didn't get in until 11am. That is a long time for a 4 year old to go with no food or water!

Both Rudolph and Kara are ready to go :) Originally Kara had the yellow socks and they were WAY to small! They fit Rudolph perfectly though!

Here is our little rock star shortly after surgery.

Believe it or not she was pretty excited about this wheel chair ride! She still talks about it! Poor girl could not walk straight for a couple days!

Best part of surgery is unlimited TV, ice cream and popsicles!

She would only let Daddy sleep with her downstairs. Since she shares a room with her sister we thought this arrangement was best as to not wake Allie as Kara had meds every couple hours those first few nights.

It is healing pretty nicely. Somehow 2 weeks later those steri stips are still on there! Granted we have only washed her hair 3 times since surgery as she can not get her ear wet and it is quite the challenge! I think we have it figured out now. By the time her next surgery comes around we will be pros!

Not sure why the pics are so small. This is the only option I could find with the new photobucket...

What a doll!

Luckily she had a good attitude about the whole day.

Except for being hungry and that will make anyone grumpy.

As for what happens from weekend to weekend, I believe it's all very similar. The talent may change though. Luckily for us we'll have other reports before we go!!!

Thanks! Her attitude was wonderful... We were a little nervous about that as she is our strong willed one! I wonder how excited she will be though when we announce she will be having another ear surgery in June.

We are trying to decide which weekend we should go. We have Allie and Kara's preschool graduation which I do not think we should miss and hubby thinks it would be fine to miss... Then Trev has two field trips in May that he REALLY wants to go to and one that he really should go to as all the 2nd graders go to outdoor school for some team building as some of these kids may be in their class next year.

BUT, if we go the last weekend we could be in Disney World for my birthday!! I kinda like that idea :) The only bad thing about that is Trev would miss out on the last 3 of 4 days of school. That is always a fun week for them! The 2nd weekend of SWW is out as The girls preschool graduation and Trev's outdoor school fall right in that window. SO many decisions! Is it really that much hotter and rainier the beginning of June than the middle of May?

Jackie

I was thinking that might be the case. School is not out until the middle of June here but I know it gets out earlier in most other places. I think the 1st or 3rd weekend would work best for us so we do not miss Kara and Allie's preschool graduation. I plan on calling MAW on Wednesday to give them our date choices. As of now I think we are going to try for the 1st weekend.

More pics... Trev's cardiology appt.

He got to pick Sponge Bob stickers for his EKG. He was pretty excited!!

Concentrating on not moving... His sisters kept trying to touch him. They thought it was pretty funny he had all those wires on him! But the doc did finally get what they needed.

Getting ready for his echo.

This was the first time I took Kara and Allie with me to a cardiologist appt. It was rather interesting!! But we did get through it. When it comes to the stress test and cardiac MRI the girls will stay home with daddy :)

Jackie

They have Spongebob on the pads now??

Sweet!

They are the stickers they hook the leads up too. Trev was pretty excited! Last time he had boring old white ones... The girls were pretty disappointed he did not go with princesses :) Although they liked the idea they got to take them home with them. We let them try on the stickers before bath... they thought that was SO much fun!

Sorry Kara had to fast longer than expected - that's always hard. So cute about Rudolph's slippers. :) Glad it is healing well. Angel had some steri strips that held on & on, because they were under the dressing. Sorry washing her hair was so challenging, glad you've figured it out. Hope you get the dates arranged so you don't miss the kids' activities at home. Trev looks so happy in the first pic :)

Aww, sweet pictures. You are a brave Mama to take everyone to the cardio appt. Glad it worked out ok. Glad Kara has her balance back.

As for picking the 1st weekend or the last weekend of SWW there are some pros and cons to each. The 1st weekend is usually more crowded, especially the first day as you have all the media and die hard collectors. I love going that first weekend, you get to see all those firsts.

The last weekend is good in some ways. Some of the merchandise gets discounted, like the t-shirts, costumes, mugs, glasses, etc. You'll know what to expect from previous weekend threads and posts. The draw back is that certain items will be sold out. Last year it was the build-a-droid parts that got sold out the first weekend. Hopefully this year they will remember the demand and have an overabundance of parts instead.

Poor thing!! She looks like a trooper in all of her surgery photos!! How sweet that she wanted her daddy to sleep with her.

If you have a choice I would do first weekend SWW because it will be slightly cooler and lower crowds but if the kids have something to do that day, then do the third weekend. Honestly you will be at Disney!

Either day is going to be hot and I don't think the crowds for that third weekend will be full force summer crowds just yet.

Love his Spongebob leads!

Thanks guys!! I am SO excited in just a few short months we will be on our MAW trip! Hopefully we will get dates soon! Although part of me is not ready for the new year with upcoming surgeries and tests but now we have Trev's MAW trip to look forward to! Yay!! I wasn't that excited about him qualifying for MAW but now with everything going on and now that they have announced the dates for SWW I am So excited for this trip for Trevor and for us. It has been a blessing for sure. He started stressing about his upcoming tests and possible surgery this year and I reminded him of his trip and we have been focusing on that. He and the girls are SO excited... They tell everyone they meet they are going to Disney World!

The kids are finally in bed after celebrating the New York New Year. The kids had a blast letting off fireworks and blowing horns. It's nice that at 9pm they don't know that it really isn't the New Year here yet :) How many more years can we get away with it...

I hope everyone has a blessed New Year. Happy New Year everyone!!!

I really hate that our children worry about these things. It's bad enough that we have to. Stress and anxiety is one of my son's seizure triggers. He knows that if anything happens we will take good care of him. He knows his daddy did CPR on him a couple years ago when he stopped breathing until the ambulance arrived and that both Mommy and Daddy know how. I think having emergency medication now helps to alleviate some of his fear. But as kids they should have to worry about health issues. Their worries should be superficial kid worries not super-serious, life-threatening ones.

We didn't make to New York's NYE. We were in bed by 9. JJ is sick with an upper respiratory infection. The four of us stayed home, ate some good food, watch Star Wars episode V on Spike and played monopoly.

Happy New Year! It's so wonderful that you and your family have something very exciting to look forward to in 2013!! What better than Disney and Star Wars!!
