Trevor's Star Wars Make A Wish trip

Glad Kara's surgery went well. Sorry she was in so much pain - hope she is doing much better now. Praying that the future hearing test will show no damage, the surgery in June will show that no growths have developed, and that you'll get answers at the post-op.

Glad Allie had a nice time.

Sorry Trev's cardiology appt. did not go as you had hoped. Praying about the upcoming stress tests & cardiac MRI, that he will be able to keep up with school, and that he will not need surgery this year.

Yay that he is growing well, can play sports & swim, and doesn't have any ride restrictions for the upcoming trip. :cheer2:

Praying for Kara. :grouphug: How I understand the heart worries/tests/ fears too well. I am sorry that 2013 is looking like this we are coming up on a decade of many of the same things so I get it. :grouphug::grouphug: The good news our heart children are resilient and they are huge blessings. I hope you are able to put all of that aside and enjoy this Christmas with a light heart!

Thanks guys!

It has been a hard couple of days but I am trying not to think about it until after his tests! Hopefully these tests will just be a base line for future testing. But the fact that we are doing it now and not at 9 or10 like his cardiologist has said the last couple years is a little unnerving! Plus with two kiddos frequenting children's now!

Kara is healing nicely and she goes in next month for a post op then we will set plans for the next surgery this summer. It has been a challenge washing her hair without getting her ear wet! I am sure we will be pros by the next surgery :)

I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!

Dear Jackie,

I am sorry for all you are going through, I have been there done that on so many levels. Clinically LIsa has needed OHS #4v since she was 5 (after they told us they hoped to get her to double digits). I am happy to say God has had other ideas. So happy Kara is healing nicely! It is exceptionally rough/scary when more than one of your children have massive medical problems. :grouphug: I hope today you can just let everything go and have some peace.

That is a LONG time to be waiting for OHS! I bet you are on pins and needles at every appt! I am glad to hear that she has been able to hold out this long. What surgery are they planning next? This will be a crazy year with Kara and Trevor and surgeries and extra clinic appointments. We couldn't of found out about Trev's wish trip at a better time! It is giving something for our whole family to look forward to!

Merry Christmas!!

Thank you!! I hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas!

Well dang Jackie...

I would aim for Memorial Day week. (That's when we're going... assuming it will be going on that weekend because we've been before over Memorial Day weekend and it was running.)

Be advised though, Gay Days is May 30-June 2 this year. The schedule is as follows: 5/30 - AK; 5/31 - DHS; 6/1 - MK; and 6/2 EP. Scheduling around the event is putting a wrench in my plans as far as touring is concerned, but I'm working around it. I always follow TP's advice on avoiding all parks with special events. Last year I think the event pulled in 140K people, so imagine those numbers converging on the parks! :faint: Someone on TP explained to me that MK is ALWAYS the first Saturday in June for Gay Days and since June 1 is a Saturday this year, the rest of the "weekend" starts the Thursday before.

Thanks for the info! I have heard some about Gay Days but haven't put much thought into yet until dates were announced. Kara and Trev have kept me busy with dr. Appts and surgeries... Poor Allie feels left out!

Dates were announced today!!!!

Star Wars Weekend Dates!

Now you finally get to plan!!!

Yay!! Tank you SO much for letting me know! I looked this morning and hadn't seen anything! Now it is starting to feel real! I can't believe we are going to DisneyWorld and Trev gets his wish! Now to really look at the calendar and see what days Trev can miss from school and to make sure we will not be gone for Allie and Kara's preschool graduation... Although it would be magical to be at Disney World for my birthday but I don't think I want to wait for the last weekend.... Decisions. Decisions.

After reading everyone's planning I'm excited to join in on the fun!

Jackie

So happy you can pick your dates now!

We were jumping for joy at our house when the dates were announced.

I know you are doing MAW, but just a heads up if you are thinking about adding any days to your trip. Disney Visa released discounted dates today. 30% off room rates. These rates are suppose to be available to the general public starting Jan 3rd.

Thanks for the info!! I had inquired about adding a couple days to our trip but our chapter does not allow that... We can however do a red eye flight which I think we may do as being from the west coast we will loose a day with that time change!

Have you picked your dates yet?

Trev is SO excited. He had a HUGE grin on his face. I told him we can start planning now and we can go sometime before school is out this year! This couldn't have come at a better time with him doing his extra cardiac tests to see if he needs surgery now or not and with his sister being in and out of the hospital and extra Doctor appts. It will be good for her too to think about as she has another surgery coming up sometime in June.

It's really not that big of a deal per se as far as the event itself is concerned, but it can and does skew the crowd levels a bit.

It just really threw me for a loop this year since the official park of the day is DHS on that Friday. I would've much preferred to do SWW on Friday to avoid in coming visitors on Saturday, but I'm pretty strict to following the "avoid the park with a party" mentality. Unless it's a MNSSHP or MVMCP day at MK. Then I go because no one else does!

Makes your head spin, huh? :confused3

My husband is so excited for SWW. Vacation at his work is kind of like the lottery. He ended up getting parts of each weekend. So we will be there each weekend, but not every day of each weekend. Once I get my Christmas TR done, and my Star Wars Celebration one done from summer, I will start a PTR for SWW.

At this point we have the first weekend booked even though he has to work part of it. Did that so that we can have packages sent to the resort and not carry around all day. Going shopping right away is a big deal for DH. Last year we got there around 10am and the line was 2 hours that first day.

I'm so glad the kids have something to look forward to. I'm sure they'll have fun with the planning. Should help keep their minds off the upcoming surgeries and appointments. I'm glad the timing works out.

That is so cool you guys get to go each weekend! We are completely on the other side of the country so Disney World is something we have only dreamed about!

Good to know about the shopping. I'm sure we will be bringing home lots of souvenirs!

The kids have been so excited since they found out dates were announced. Every time they see the Disney castle on something they tell everyone they are going there! It is starting to feel real to them too. The girls are now saying they will actually meet characters. They are 4 so we will see what really happens when we get there :)

I called our MAW chapter about dates but of course they are closed through the 1st! I am going to see if my Dad can come too if he pays his way. I think the only problem would be staying at Give Kids the World. But I hear it fits 6 or 7 people so we should be fine that way.

On Star Wars Weekends do they have different events each weekend or do the same ones run each weekend? I am getting so excited we really get to start planning! This will really help me not stress out about Trev's upcoming tests...

Since you aren't staying onsite, you can have your packages shipped to the front of the park for same day pick-up.

I'm sure you're all excited to get in touch with MAW. I hope everything works out smoothly and your Dad can go too.

http://kennythepirate.com/category/star-wars-weekends/ Here is the entertainment schedule from last year and the maps.

I've been trying to make ADRs but Disney's website it not cooperating with me.
