Treating myself and not feeling guilty!

My first IUI failed. After a month of pills, injections and daily blood tests and ultrasounds (not to mention the painful procedure), I am once again not pregnant.

I got the news Monday and realized that my entire life revolves around these appointments and procedures. Work, travel, visits with friends and family...everything. No more.

I decided that I wanted to go to Super Soap Weekend. So, I booked it. I was ready to fight with DH since he's a psycho and hates to take a day off of work. Amazingly, he was thrilled with the idea and happy I did something for myself. Go figure!

I don't even feel guilty....money, a day off of work....I don't care. I'm usually guilt-ridden over everything, but not over this. I truly deserve this and can't wait to go.

So....I'll be down for Super Soap wearing my lime green ribbon and chasing Thorsten Kaye. BUT, I WON'T be having an ultrasound or getting blood drawn or getting shot up with medications. That, alone, is worth every penny!

The last 4 trips in my siggy are because of 2 failed IVF's in 2004 and now a long and stressful wait with an adoption agency.
Infertility is overwhelmingly hard and anything you can do to make yourself feel better is a great idea I say! Disney is the best medicine!

I'm infertile, too ... and, although I chose not to go the in-vitro route and went for adoption instead, I can completely relate to what you're going through. You need to take the time to relax, enjoy and chase your favorite soap star!

It took me a year to get pregnant - I was getting ready to start infertility treatments when I was blessed with my sweet Julia

although I didn't see it then and would have been irritated with anyone telling me this - I realize now that there is a child that is meant to belong to each of us and that until they are ready for us, we don't get them. Someday, somehow God will send you your child

I can't imagine if I had gotten pregnant any sooner - I would have missed out on my Julia!!! and I wouldn't trade her for any other child in the world!!!!!! She and Nick are the children that are meant to be mine and I had to wait until they were ready!!

I'm right there with you - my trip this past january was b/c my first ivf didn't work (and I already had 3 unsuccessful IUI's), I then found out my second ivf didn't work the day my younger sis was coming to visit with her kids and VERY pregnant with her second child. I now have another vacation to WDW in October- it will either be a celebration from my 3rd IVF (which I'm in the midst of my meds now for and which the procedures occur at the end of september) or a trip to get away from the sadness of it all. So believe me, I understand - and I had to postpone this latest session by two weeks b/c I have a trial starting 9/20 (I'm an attorney too).

So if you ever want to talk, believe me, I understand. PM me.

Wow! Thank you all SOOO much for your responses.

First, it's amazing how many people out there struggle with infertility. Sometimes, you feel like you're all alone....even though you KNOW you're not. Pregnant people everywhere....people telling you to just "let it happen"....or my mother's words of wisdom - "just do it all the time". You begin to wonder if anyone else gets it.

Second, it's so funny how we all run to WDW to make peace with everything. I think Walt would be thrilled to know that the place he created can provide people like us with a place to go and get away from it - even if WDW is jammed with kids, at least some of them are misbehaved enough to drown out the biological clock.
