traveling with multiples!!

Each of my twin sons has a 4 year old daughter (they are 3 months apart). They also each have a son but the sons are 2 years apart. Then my daughters (not twins) have children 2 days apart! We do almost everything in 2's! My twins were even born on 2/22.

For all of you young parents out there. Build those bonds with your kids NOW. You will need very strong bonds when they get to the teen years. Difficulties when they are in middle & high school are more from the outside influences (boyfriends, girlfriends, etc). If you have a strong relationship with them it will really help! But have fun...they don't stay young for long!

Glad, to hear that everyone is doing well.

my kidsa re together this year, b/c my school only has 2 k clasess. Next year they will be separate
how about your girls?

There will be lots of multiples there in October. We are going there October 3 through October 11, staying at the All Star Music suites. My boys will turn seven next month and are just about finished with first grade. Hard to believe my babies will be seven! They have been in the same class since Kindergarten and will be together again in second grade. They are very fraternal and on different levels academically and their teachers have not seen any problems by keeping them in the same classroom (we have eight classes in their grade and nine sets of twins!).

We will be the 8th-11th then the cruise... Staying at SSR..... Mine will be in the same class too I love that they are still together.. I take it your school does not care if there together. Do they give you hard time about pulling them out for vacations????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Funny, when I registered the kids for Kindergarten I was told they will be separated but will consider requests for them to be together. Then I didn't say anything more and their Kindergarten teacher assumed I wanted them together so put them together in first grade, same thing again, 1st grade teacher assumed I wanted them together so put them together again for second grade (which I am o.k. with!).

Bummer, DH really wants to take a Disney cruise again; unfortunately, we'll be in school then.

And regarding taking the kids out of school for vacation. We go to school year round. Our new school year starts mid July and we get three, three-week breaks (Sept/Oct, Christmas, spring) so we take our trips on our cycle break.

my girls have 12 days left of 3rd grade. They were preemies and qualified for the district pre-school program. They are very fraternal, but one was more dependent on the other at that age so I didn't argue when the district wanted to split them up. Pre-school was 1/2 day, then they were together in day care, since they only had 1 class per age group. They were together in
5k because there was only 1 full-day class and they hated it. Most of the kids in the class had been in class with one of dd's, she hated that she now had to share them with her sister, plus we now had competition between the 2 of them, along with the constant "she did this, she did that". They moved into regular 1st gr and have been seperated again ever since. We're really having problems this year because one dd is 4" and 10 lbs bigger, she's big for her age and looks 2 yrs older then she is. Other dd is small for her age. Once people realize they're sisters they think bigger dd repeated a grade. We've had this before, but this year dd's understand what it means and bigger dd is not happy that "they think I'm dumb and got left back". Their school goes thru 5th gr, then they move to the middle school which is set up in teams of teachers. I'll make sure they're on teams at the opposite end of the school to avoid some of it then.

17 days of 5th grade left for my kids - then on to WDW for our first cruise and a few days at BWV. Time goes too fast - my niece just turned 18 and is graduating from high school in a few weeks - it seems like yesterday that she was the age that my kids are now.......

We finally got our vacation details today, so we can book our first trip with the girls (um, that aren't here yet :rotfl: ). We'll be traveling the second week of March, when they will be just over or under 9 months old :cloud9:

Just wanted to say HI! I just stumbled upon this thread. We are planning our second WDW family trip in Dec. My oldest DS will be turning 6 and my b/g twins will be turning 3 in Feb. I have not had a chance to read thru the whole thread yet. I will, maybe the twins turn 14 :rotfl2:

When are you due??? CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm "due" July 11th, but you know how that is with multiples :) I'm scheduled for a C/S June 16th, but am actually in the hospital now (just now) with low amniotic fluid... I'm 32w4d, hopefully they'll hang on a couple weeks longer! :goodvibes

Tink. Good luck with everything. Be sure and keep us up to date and take care of you. My twin boys were 6 weeks early and that was 27 years ago. They are wonderful, successful, good looking (if I do say so myself) fantastic men with families of their own today. I have every confidence that your girls are going to be healthy and beautiful. The first few weeks (and months) can be quiet exhausting so take care of yourself first. Take naps when they nap. (Take the phone off the hook and put a sign on the door). Don't worry about dishes and the house so much....take care of yourself and your babies! My thoughts and prayers are with you and your two little princesses!

Congratulations, tink2020!

Re: the school separation issue, I posted this on another thread recently, FWIW:

As for the separation issue, that was probably me. Many states are passing legislation so that parents' preferences are taken into consideration rather than blanketly separating automatically. This is based on research, the first ever done, showing that twins separated against their will in early grades show more issues of anxiety and lower test scores. (Not looking to argue these points, these were the facts of the legislation.)

My own experience was probably pretty unique. Like many parents of twins, I planned to keep them together for kindergarten and maybe first, then separate. Unfortunately, life threw me a curve ball and I found myself battling breast cancer during those early years. Rather than cause more upheaval, and with all educators' support, we kept them together for a while longer. When I was ready to go ahead and separate for 3rd grade, their teacher recommended against it, saying they were "wonderful together". So they've been together and will finish out elementary school that way (as well adjusted, honor roll students), and will separate naturally when they go to middle school a year and a half from now. It's been their choice. Most people in the school, including some of the teachers and students, aren't even aware they're brother and sister, let alone twins. For them, it works.

Each set of twins and family situation needs to be looked at individually and decisions made on a case by case basis. :thumbsup2
