I have an 8 year old daughter who is 51 1/2" and LOVES roller coasters and any kind of rides. Also I have a just a few weeks shy of 4 year old son who is 41 1/2" and is also a THRILL Seeker, he was the youngest to climb a 30 foot rock wall at a local mall. And we also have a 25 pound 9 month old bouncing baby boy! Now only I have done US (well with my daughter when she was 3), ONCE during April vacation about 5 years ago, it was MOBBED and we only got to go on Twister, ET and saw the Barney show everything else had a 3+ hour wait so we left at like 11 AM.

Anyway is IOA for us?

If you can swing it do both. US has added so much since your last trip. What time of the yr are you going?

If you have two days, do both. If you can't, I don't know what I would do. Maybe try to add another day!

Your 8 year old will not be tall enough to ride the two major coasters at IOA, Hulk and Dueling Dragons, both of which have 54" height requirements.

You can see the listing of height requirements for both parks here http://themeparks.universalstudios.com/orlando/website/phi_guest_services.html#height

You may want to get some shoes with higher heels for your 41 1/2" thrill seeker as Men In Black has a 42" height requirement and I'm sure he'd like that one. (It spins a lot.)

Hope this helps you make your decision, although if it's at all possible, I'd do both parks. The interactive kids play areas at both parks are great for the little ones but be sure to bring their bathing suits--they WILL get wet!

If u plan for a full day get there early to get on fav attractions at USO shrek & Jimmy are most popular the mummy may not be open in 2weeks but u never know at IOA u will like Spidey stormforce water rides and seuss u also have woodys coaster & Unicorn which the kids love:jester:

They should be very busy then so you could hit the highlights of each with the 1 day 2 park. However it at all possible try to do 2 days. US/IOA has a lot of hidden gems to discovery jsut like WDW does. We have spent most of an afternoon just watching the visitors interact with the mystical fountain.
