Personally I don't bother, having a lock which has such a simple widely available key seems pointless to me. Your case could appear to have been untampered and when you get it home you realise something is missing. At least if you use a marked cable tie you'll know if your case has been opened before you leave the airport!

Another vote for cable ties so cheap & they work.

Plus if your case is opened by us officials they use them!

I use the TSA approved luggage straps becasue my hard-sided cases only have a combination lock. The straps make the cases easy to spot on at baggage reclaim and give some extra protection against the cases bursting open
