Hi
Just looking for prices for travel insurance for a trip in june, found some very different prices, has anyone ever heard of or used
Columbus Direct or
Club Direct or
Top Dog
I found these on moneysupermarket.com and they are saying, £29.80, £29.90and £32.00 for 2 weeks cover
Marks and Spencers who i have used before are £110.74
Post office are £112.00
Big difference in price but i want a good insurance, any advice would be great, thanks.:)

Better if you can find people that have claimed rather than heard or used them. I use insure & go, never claimed but they were recommended to me.
We always buy annual cover as we go to states upto 4 times a year and trips to europe, but they will do short stay policies. Annual costs from around £60-£130, we have the top cover for £130(black cover)
They also give 10% cashback thru rpoints.com

jules, try travel web insurance {recommended by which magazine}we used these in the last two years andhad to claim twice {over£500 }on our last 2 trips, its about £40 for a family for 2 weeks, great service and was paid up within 3 weeks ,i will always use this firm ,but not sure if they will want to use us in the future after we keep claiming

I've just booked with simple travel which I found recommended on a previous thread. £45 for annual family cover. :goodvibes Not got the paperwork yet to check it out and as Wayneg says it's what happens if you claim that counts!

I needed insurance to cover my mild asthma as well - usual two inhalers -I've been quoted (and paid!) a considerable hike for this in the past. This company included this free.
Don't forget to declare any medical problems though - I've seen several people denied claims because they've tried to dodge this.

hmm we used colombus last year and dd lost her bag somewhere on plane or at airpost on way out and they wouldnt cover her nintendo ds or any of her brand new games we bought at airport, we had to replace it all ourselves was a nightmare, she also had other bits in bag, colouring stuff, her beloved blankie, was gutted at that one, and her i pod, but they wouldnt pay up.

we use insure and go,clamed from them as well,no problems.
Think there the largest travel insurures in the market
When i had my eye opps last year told no extra to pay
Paulh

It is not possible to make a comparison on price without considering many things, excess levels extent of cover, limits and attitude toward payments.

Annual policies are worth considering. I get cover for overnight stays anywhere. So if I go overnight to the lakes in a B&B i'm still covered.

The M&S price you are quoting is for an annual policy, theother prices mentioned are for 1 trip only - and no I have never heard of any of them.

Generally with Insurance you get what you pay for which in the case of "Topdog" etc is probably very little beyond basic cover if you have a major problem that is likely to cost them more than a few hundred £.

Wayneg, does this cover you when going on a cruise or do you buy separate insurance through DCL?
Thanks

Never taken DCL's insurance. I did email them a couple of years ago and they said yes cruises are covered but no detail, I just presumed it came under the £15million of medical cover.
If you book thru cruises.co.uk, Insure & Go is the only affiliate insurance company they offer, surely they would not use them if cruise cover was not included.
If anyone knows any different I would like to know.

Hi, the M & S price was definately for one trip cover so might be worth looking into annual policy, will definately avoid columbus, thanks for the advice i will investigate further.
