Travel Industry Discounts - How to book?

my girlfriend and I are going in May..and her dad works for US Airways... could we switch the reservation over to his name and get the discount (even though he's not going?)

No. Disney is very strict with travel industry discounts because of risk of abuse. You can book only one room with them and the industry member must stay in the room and present valid ID. There is no "I'm a TA and we're going at the same time as my best friend so I'll book her family a room too." It's not like AP rates where you can book 3 rooms and they may or may not ask to see your AP when you check in. It's also not like the "I don't have a PIN but a CM booked this code for me without one" and the rumors of reverting to rack rate at check in but no one has actually reported having this happen to them. They WILL revert you to rack rate if you don't have valid proof of eligibility. I actually do know people who have had exactly that happen. One person who bought into one of those "give me $495 and I give you a 'TA card'" sort of deals. They had the card but didn't have a valid agency IATA certificate and eligibility list so they were charged rack rate. One person who was an airline employee at the time of booking but not at the time of travel and another who legitimately was a travel agent but didn't have an IATAN card yet and tried to get away with saying she did.

You also can not book in his name and use his discount unless he is there with you at check in and presents his proof of eligibilty.

I've only stayed onsite twice, once when I won the accommodation at a travel agents evening and the other on a fam trip.

Does anybody know how far in advance the travel industry room rates come out?

Not sure I think last year I booked around this time of year for September. We always go low season so we never had a problem.

I called as soon as we returned from our November trip last year and the rates were already out for November of this year - I was shocked. I asked about the Poly and WL - no WL STD rooms available so we went with the Poly...twist my arm! :)

Thanks so much for that. I've booked my flights for April next year so I will give them a call and see if they have any rates out yet :earsboy:

Can someone please PM me the phone number. My sister is a flight attendant and just found out one of her Co-workers has never been to WDW. THey would like to go. DO they just get a room only discount or do they get a package discount? THings are slow for them right now so every penny counts.

TAs can book up to 2 rooms with the travel industry discount.

I work for AA and I have called Disney many of times... some reservations agents might tell you no, but if you call back you may get it. I have had this happen many times. We get about 50% off. I have gotten it before, but I have never tried to add on dinning or anything. I do know that if you are booking a wedding/honeymoon pacakge your airline industry discount does not apply. I learned that when I tried to book my disney wedding. Too bad we can't get a discount on the park tickets....

Hi,

I´m TA from Germany and are told here that I can only ask for TA rates 30 days prior to arrival. Is this true or may I try earlier?

Hi. I was wondering if someone would be nice enough to pm the phone number to call to book a room at the discounted airline employee rate. I booked two years ago using the discount, using the regular number and had a bit of trouble and am having a hard time getting a hold of someone at the regular number who is knowledgeable about the discount.

Either PM or e-mail me at donald@donaldrees.com - thanks!

Travel agents can now book online through the Travel Agent portal. I'm booked March 12-17 at CSR with my DD for $487.00. Great rate. Needed to fax over copy of my IATA card. :thumbsup2

We have gone several times with my parents and each time I asked if they gave an airline employee discount and they said no ... My dad was an active employee then but now my dad is retired from United (38 years) so I guess he can no longer get this discount ... right ????
My question is ... why is it that the answers are yes sometimes and no other times ... we are planning a trip in May and my sister is active military ... I called several times but of couse the answer is "no militray discount" ... How can I be sure???

Does anyone know if Fed Ex employees qualify for the airline employee discounts?

I know there is an airline employee discount. My husband just started working for a major airline and we have utilized his discount many times. I was there at AKL at 50% off last week and am staying at BC at almost 50% off next week. Each time we had to fax a letter of good standing to the hotel. When I first called for the BC, I was told no discounts. I called the next day and they had them. Some don't seem aware. It is, I believe, called an interline basic pkg. Includes hotel and passes to mini golf at about half off. A real bargain in my opinion. I hope this helps.

I am booked for May....the same rules as a regular package. $200 deposit fp 45 days before. There are no add ons available. I also had to fax in the required info like everyone else.

I'll just add what I know about this (and I have booked a room for an airline employee as well) For the travel trade discount (non-TA's) you can book your room via the regular CRO line or though a TA or Interline. You do have to fax over a verification of your employment within a certain number of days of booking the reservation or the pricing will revert to rack rates.

For travel agents, they no longer take phone reservations for these, you have to book those via the Disney TA site now (and it is my understanding that it is still ONE room only and the TA must be staying in the room.)

I don't know if FedEx qualifies for the airline discount at WDW but I do know that UPS does not :confused3

Only US Travel Agents can book online....international agents (canadians, like myself) have to book by phone as our website does not give us the option of online booking.

:confused3 Does anyone know if this is the case of only one room discount??? My daughter just started as a TA and will not receive her IATAN card util Sept. We as a family (she lives at home) are planning a vac in Nov she would like her own room It would be nice if we could book 2 rooms connecting with her discount. Anyone??????
