Travel Industry Discounts - How to book?

We're checking it out now - wow, 50% off, that's awesome. Looks like there's slim pickings for the rest of this year - I assume you need to get your reservations in early. No problem, we weren't planning on going this year anyway.

My wife used to be a travel agent, then quit when she had our first daughter. I planned our last trip myself, with a lot of help from this site. But now that she's back with the travel agency - well I knew the benefits were good; we took lots of trips in our past life, I just didn't know the benefits for disney were that good. Thanks for the help, guys!

So as a follow-up question, when can you book a room for 2007? The wesite only takes reservations for 2006.

Actually, this changed recently. TA's can now book a MYW package with dining. I believe you still get the room at 50% off, then pay full rate for dining and tickets. Travel dates begin Aug. 13 to Dec. :Pinkbounc

I'll say! I just checked and effective June 6 you can get dining as per above! My apologies!

You can only book TA's vacations for the present year. You have to wait to book 2007. Also the TA ID cards are only good thru 12/31/2006...your card must be updated (for CLIA anyway, don't know about IATA) and your ID must be up to date to get the discount.

I cannot get my new card for 2007 until September 2006.

I call mid October 2005 for Sept 2006 TA rates and they were out ..... I have been able to leave it till around April for a September trip depending on your resort preference!

UK Agents still need to call TA Res line, as we still cannot access the US TA site, and the UK TA site is a non bookable service.

My DD, DSIL, DGD, DGS has a one night reservation at All Star Sports booked with a TA discount. Is there a way to call the resort to request a room location and apprise them that it is their wedding anniversery? Sometimes they will put something in the room, I have heard. If they can't they can't. For my own birthday I said nothing but the family? Well! Every bit of pixie dust available!
If I can't I am not complaining (for $55 a night) but know someone out here will know!

As far as I know, I don't think they care how much you paid for the room (or what discount you used) - someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Last fall 3 couples went, 2 of us were celebrating anniversaries (my 1st, and my in-laws 40th). They didn't do anything for my DH or I, but they did have a Mickey cake and balloons waiting in the room for my in-laws. Didn't ask for it, just told them what/when anniversaries we were celebrating.

Wow, that is so nice! My daughter is an RN and I know she would love a little magic! I won't say anything and if she is lucky great, if not, she'll still have a wonderful time. To answer my own question I got the phone number from Allearsnet.com and called about room requests. The CM suggested I call within 5 to 10 days of arrival as they don't have the actual info in their system yet. Only central reservations has it.

Very good!

I just made sure I mentioned it each time I spoke to someone about my reservation - including check-in. Not demanding or asking... just said "how excited we were to be in Disney on our anniversaries".

My philosophy - expect nothing, and be thrilled with what you get!

Good luck!

Lake Ariel, are you the TA that booked this? Who in that party is a TA. I had to show my IATA card last time I checked in. If you booked this for them at TA rate, and they don't have an IATA they will be charged full rack rate. Disney states that the TA must occupy the room. :confused3

:offtopic:

I just finished a course in May, becoming a certified travel agent. Then i was in a motor vehicle accident and havent been working.

Once I get the all clear from my doctors, I want to get a part time travel agent job. I am having the worse time because nobody wants to hire me without 2yrs experience. I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to get my foot in the door.

TIA,
Tamika

I know you thought it was me! :teeth: Actually the TA is my DSIL who never had used his IATA benefit. I did all the arranging but he will have his card at check in. I wish it was me, my God I'd be in Disney 4 times a year. Great savings!

It's a great benefit. We're taking our third trip using it and it makes it so affordable for my family since we are all adults. Now with the addition of being able to add the Dining and tickets it's even better, even though my next trip is before we can use that benefit. We're getting a 2br at OKW for a week for a little over $1600. My daughter is also working as CM this summer so we'll be taking advantage of her CM discount for tickets. :Pinkbounc

Have spent the last 20 years renting a condo at Seaside Heights. I just love the ocean there!

I grew up in North Jersey, spent most of my childhood summers in Ortley Beach. Believe it or not, I CAN'T STAND THE BEACH!!! :lmao: Especially the Jersey Shore. Go figure. :confused3

Who can PM me the info or Phone # to call to see if we qualify for this discount. My dh works for a major airline here in Canada and we just booked a pkg but heck if we can get 50% off on a room and if possible add on our tickets I will change things if I have to. As all we have down right now is a deposit as we don't go until December. Also what exactly is a IATAN card. My dh may know what this is but just incase can anyone tell me. As he isn't a TA but yet he is an employee of an Airline and if this is for anyone in the airline industry I'm surprised that he didn't know about this

Well from what I'm reading is this discount not for all airline employees and if so what info would they need as my dh isn't a Travel agent

I'm an airline employee as well and yes, we do get 50% off the rooms when available. I'm not sure if airline employees can add on tickets and dining - it appears this is something new that TAs can do.

Your best bet is to call Disney CRO and tell them you are an airline employee. They will ask you to fax over several items to substantiate you are indeed an active employee and then they will book your ressie.

Good luck - we've used the discount several times. Unfortunately next Friday is my last day with my company so I'm no longer entitled - but it was nice while it lasted :)

I located a list of sample interline discount rates but could not determine what the 'villa' rate constituted (studio, 1bdr??).... the villas at wilderness lodge was listed @ $147.50/nt (dec. value season) BUT what type of room is this? HELP!
I hate to call up Disney until I am absolute about what I want to book... ugh! Our party is 2 adults and 4 children under age 9 so booking two rooms would mean dh and I dividing up. :teleport: Where can we sleep 6 poeple and not go broke? FW Cabins is looking like our only option unless said villas are not studios.... any knowledge or thoughts? TIA
