Travel Channel Disney Fans tidbits

Dave, Erika and Jocelyn,

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us. I finally watched the show last night and really enjoyed it.

You all did a great job! It made me even more excited for my upcoming trip, if that is even possible! :Pinkbounc

Erika, Jocelyn and Dave,

Thanks for all your insights into the filming of the show. I try to watch it every time it comes on (except the middle of the night of course). It's even more fun after reading all your posts. Anyway I thought you guys all did a great job.

Dave,

We'll be at WDW next week also, so I'll have to keep an eye out for your family. You're real celebrities now...aahh, the price of fame. By the way, I sometimes read that other (unnamed) Disney board, including when you posted there. Let's just say I'm glad I recently found the DIS boards. Everyone's so much nicer here.

Julie

JulieM96 -- Yes, I'm done with the other boards. I'm not one to flame back, so this is much nicer community to be a part of. Hey, if you see me, yell! Still looking for my first celebrity moment to go against Erika's dozens!

Jocelyn -- I know, I know. Having been out of corporate life for about 12 years now, it's easy to forget the protocol. I'm interested in what area of business you're in now, but understand if you can't reveal that. Since nothing I touch is connected to Disney (especially now that the production's in the can), I don't feel the pressure you may. At the same time, I don't want to call attention to the "man behind the curtain" for those who believe in the magic. I'll try to be more aware.

I did notice this time watching the program (for the umpteenth time) some things that I missed before. The Dueling Dragons static shot for the intro on FP's (and the fooseball and Wac-A-Mole shots -- wasn't that interesting?), the quick shot of us coming through a backstage entry, the items the Levy's bought at Epcot, and the crazy slow pace we exit Wishes.

Well, the next time the show's on, I'll be reliving the experience. Thanks everybody for the nice comments!

Dave and Erika,

You know, I don't care how much you reveal (that is about what you saw at WDW!);)

You could have told me you saw Mickey changing into a "human costume" and I would not care. The place is still and always will be magic to me!

GREAT SHOW DISNEY 3!Dave,the last time I was at WDW,I had a great CM on the bus to Animal Kingdom. He told us about the bicycles at AK.He said the reason they use them is in keeping with the environmentally-friendly atmosphere of AK.By not using internal-combustion engines, the air is kept cleaner for all of the "residents" at AK.I thought that was really interesting.(Sorry Joslyn;) )Did you guys get anything besides free rooms-that you can talk about ,of course;)?Do you think there might be a sequel to come? Thanks. :earsboy: :D

Oh my goodness! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: That's absolutely hilarious. Thanks so much for sharing your stories with us Dave and I'm so glad you joined these boards.

Well, let's just say that they took care of just about everything they would for production talent (is that obscure enough Jocelyn? ).

A sequel? I want a series -- no, a movie deal! I'm so sure they'd hire us -- we're so good with the "natural" impromptus!
:hyper:

Another tidbit about the experience -- We were going to do the fast-pass for Kali, but by the time it worked into our schedule, all the Fast-passes had been issued. No problem, the folks at AKL said they'd set one up and make it look like we were getting one. As soon as the cover came off the machine, a line started to form! Now to the even the causal observer, there was a camera, reflectors, talent, and cue-rope -- it was apparent we were shooting a video. Two or three of the cast members stood there to tell everyone that the Fast-Pass was out, and this was just a video shoot. One man was very angry and stood to argue with the CM's. When he finally understood he wouldn't get a Fast-Pass he said "We'll Disney's loosing money on us -- we just won't buy one of your tickets!!!" He walked away in a huff and I was amazed how the CM's kept a straight face. I then whispered to them, "Now there's the way to pay for another E-ticket here!"

There were a number of occasions where the Cast Members took abuse on the chin while we were there. These people have more backbone to deal with people who sometimes so rude and mean. They are amazing. For those of you CM's out there, you are my hero's!

I really enjoyed the show and watched with several other noisy people so my mother TIVO'd it for me to watch later on my own. She's the only 73 year old, net surfing, 2 satelittes and TIVO granny that I know - God bless her (it's the only way I get to see these shows). I enjoyed this thread even more - thanks Dave. BTW - is there a place on line where you can find the Disney lineup on the Travel Channel - I thought I read somewhere that there were other Disney specials coming up this month and I can't find them. I have to let my mother know what to tape for me. Thanks again

Travel channel Disney Fans.

Our family really enjoyed the show. I knew when I was watching that you guys had to be on the Dis boards. Reading your posts just adds to the magic. I just wanted you to know we truly appreciate what a great job you all did. I think because you guys are regular folks the show was better for it.

P.S. on a side note, last year at MGM we were on the backlot tour. It was rerouted through an employee area because of construction. There were bicycles everywhere. Aladdin, Jasmin and Snow White where there, I guess waiting for their escort. Well when Aladdin saw the tram he hopped on one of the bikes and started acting all silly as did Snow White and Jasmin (they looked like they were telling him he was a bad boy). Now that's what I call a magical moment! It was so much fun.

Great story MCNVP! I love it when those kind of things happen. I remember once we were putting around the Town Square Expo hall one afternoon when we happened upon Fairy Godmother, Alice, Cinderella, and Robin Hood (very strange combination). I think they were inbetween parades, and since no-one was there, they spent about 15 minutes alone with just us! My teen guys were more than happy to entertain Alice and Cindy, my wife and I had a wonderful conversation with Fairy Godmother, and my daughter had a lot of fun with Robin Hood. Characters are such...characters.

Well, we're getting ready for our return trip in a couple days. Hope to see some of you there!

I just watched the show again and it is so good!Joslyn,(is that the correct spelling?)I feel the same way you do about TOT.I have done it once and the drops are too intense for me.I could do it again if I wanted to,but it is really more stressful than fun for me.Your girlfriends sure gave you a hard time.:D How many years have the three of you been going to WDW?Dave,I really liked your concept of Oak Street!:D I don't like to go backstage either.Erika, your little boys were so cute running around FW!Was this the last showing of your "classic" program?:D :earsboy:

well i just watched the show again today for the ....i dont know i think as often as it has been on.... time and i enjoyed it more.

at first i was a bit critical of the show with the extensive planning and other bits but what i missed that first time was what WDW is actually all about. It is about the families and friends enjoying themselves in the way that they choose to enjoy disney. it has nothing to do with extensive planning, buying tickets, ps's etec. it's about magic. each time i see the show i see the magic that exists between each and every set of families and friends featured in that special.

Dave, i think that when my wife watched your family eat at Boma's and heard the positive comments about the food i may finally get the chance to eat there. she and DS#2 are very fussy eaters. For sure we will be eating at the Y&B club. i loved the way the Levys meal looked.

well thanks for a really enjoyable show.

:bounce: I hope the DIS members inolved in the show don't mind, but I am bumping this post up since the show was just broadcast again yesterday, making this thread relavent again. :bounce:

I just caught this show while hospitalized for a few days. Nice job. The Travel Channel had a 3 hour marathon of Disney shows. Brightened my stay.

Wow - this board came back from the grave! Thanks for the bump folks! :earsboy:
