Hi, sorry if this is long. On Thursday I went to a travel agent and got a quote for 2 weeks at AKL with tickets and dining plan for two adults and one child. I was quoted about £3700 which I thought was a good price, so I returned to the TA to book it.

Any way when I was given booking details by the TA I looked at the first page and the total was £3361, so I thought maybe this is to the total not including the deposit. However this is not the case as the remaining balance was £2941, I thought that maybe they forgot to add the tickets and DDP however it seems that I have been given a discount of £370, as on another page it says full holiday cost £3700 less discount £370 total cost £3361

I am very confused at this as the Travel Agent never mentioned it at any time when I asked for a quote or made a booking, and when I did a quote for the same holiday on both the TA website and Tour operator no discount was applied to the booking.

Is this normal for a TA to do this?:confused3

Is the holiday with Virgin? They are giving a 10% discount at the moment so maybe that has been put on??

no, it is with going places and it is an Airtours/My travel booking.
Virgin were about £4400 for the same holdiay.

I dont know then! They have either made a mistake or been nice and given you a 10% discount. Either way its a great saving!!

I just hope if it is a mistake they don't try to rectify it. :)

I agree, once it has been agreed and you have an invoice they can't take it back. What a bargain!!

I got the TO confimation today and the TA letter inclosed had on the higher price to pay of £3917 with no discount, though the price i was orginaly given was £3760( with out the discount).

Does any one know where I stand on this, do I have to pay the £3971 or should I pay the £ £3361?

Legally they are not obliged to honour the price although if you have been misquoted they are obliged to cancel the holiday with no cost to you, any cancellation charges are their fault.
It does sound like you were badly misquoted, I can only imagine that they did NOT add the cost of the tickets or some other 'extra' on top.
If you like pm me the details and I can let you know what the nett fares are.

Airtours gave us a discount of about £500 when we booked last July. Was quite stunned by it all. But we've paid in full now
