Transportation?

Hi All,

I'm flying into Orlando 5 days before my cruise (11/29). I'm renting a car and returning it on cruise morning (12/5). I figured I would check into Mears Shuttle Service since I've heard such good stuff about them and low and behold....

on their website they say they are "partnered" with DCL and now u have to call DCL to book the transportation? Isn't there any cheaper way for me to do this? Or is this the cheapest way?

The cheapest way would be to keep your rental car (assuming it's one of the ones that is near the port; AVIS is the closest and has a free shuttle to the port) and drive yourself to the port. You can then return it to the rental car location near the port. You could then either take one-way DCL transfers back to the airport after your cruise or do a car rental on that end of the cruise as well to get to the airport.

Thanks for the reply. How do I know which car rental places are by the port? Is there a town near the port I can check? I'm doing Payless, so I have no idea if they have a return place by the port.

Yikes, I'm not sure about Payless. Dave from Marietta has a link to all the nearby car rentals at his site; most folks do Avis as it is the closes to the port and has a free shuttle. Here is the info:

If you're returning your car to the airport instead you can get add Disney Cruise Line transfers to your cruise reservation. Round-trip transfers are $46 per person this year and $49 per person for 2003.

Hi Michelle,

Thank you once again for all your help! I'll check out Dave's site. Actually $46 round trip for the transfers really isn't a bad deal. I might just do it that way. I can't see that keeping the car rental for an extra 4 days when I'm on the cruise will be cheaper than $46 + $46 (unless it's cheaper for a child?).

Anyway, thx and I'll be sure to post my trip report when I get back!
