Transportation when switching hotels?

Hi all! I know that Disney will transfer luggage from hotel A to hotel B, but how do we physically travel to the other hotel? Do we have to use Disney transportation (i.e. bus to a theme park and transfer to a bus to the second hotel), or does Disney transfer us? TIA!

We used the Minnie Van service last month when we switched resorts. It was super easy and quick. We took our luggage with us. My DH has to take his work laptop wherever we go and using this method gave him more peace of mind. We found the Minnie Vans to be great and will use them again for future trips.

In short, no. It is up to you to get there and all the ways were posted above.

We split our stay almost every trip as our party size changes and we move from a smaller to bigger room/ or the reverse.

Since the room likely won't be ready until after 4 anyway we let Disney move our bags and then go about our day at the parks as we normally would. When we are done we simply return to the new resort, check in if we haven't gotten our online room assignment and call for our bags.

You have two choices...
1. hand your bags to Bell Services, they will move them to the next hotel. Then, head to a park for the morning/afternoon, then go to the new resort. Your bags should be there by 5pm.
or...
2. get an uber to the new resort, take your bags with you. Drop the bags at Bell Services if the room isn't ready yet, then head to a park for the day.

We are doing our first split as a family in August. We are going from BC to Poly. So our plan is to go to Epcot in the am and then head to the Poly mid day. I will have to carry our bathing suits with us so we can swim during our mid day break! Hopefully our bags will be to our room/resort for check in.

To your resort, possibly. To your room? Not without you in the room.

I haven't done a split stay since the late 90's and before that was the late 80s when the GF opened and we went from the Poly to the GF. So I am not sure when the bags get transferred to resort #2. Hopefully not too late as we will need a change of clothes for evening hours but I assume since check in is 4 that we *should* have our stuff by then.

Plan for at least check in time maybe a bit after. IMHO if you need your bags during the day or prior to say 5ish I would consider using uber/lyft/minnievan and transferring them yourself. You will likely still have to store them but at least you can get access earlier.

We never plan a pool or special dinner on a moving day for just this reason - its so easy to leave your bags at the first resort and let them transfer to the 2nd. You do have to arrange for bell services to deliver to them when you get to your new room or get them yourselves, it isn't automatic like the DME luggage service.

Great thanks! We are doing the Epcot/MK park days that day. I figured going to Epcot was easy from the BC and then getting to the Poly again..easy. We would only need clothes to change into after our mid day break in the pool. I almost didn't do a park day and was considering a pool day but I knew I would never leave the BC pool in a timely manner.

We will have them transfer all our bags except our park bags and the possibility of a change of clothes for the evening. Oh and bathing suits will come to Epcot with us so we can change at the Poly when we get there and swim the afternoon away. But the possibility of keeping them at the BC and use a Minnie van is an option this way we know we will have our bags with us and can get what we need.

We have done different things. Usually if we are changing resorts, we have Disney send the luggage to the new resort and we just go to the park by whatever transportation makes sense (last time we took the bus from Pop Century to MK), then at the end of the day we take transportation from the park to the new resort (no need to visit the resort in the morning when you can just go enjoy the park all day long).

Another time we just took an Uber from one resort to the other and carried our own luggage in the Uber.

Well, the only time your bags will be in your room, before you are there, is when you use DME. Resort to resort isn't going to get bags put into the room without you being there to hand over a gratuity....sad but true.
I have never, ever had my bags by 4pm. Usually after 5, and that's even with handing them off to Bell Services prior to 8am!!! If you are going to need anything in those bags, I would really recommend taking a cab or uber to the Polynesian first thing in the morning and then taking the monorail back to Epcot. Or, just leave your bags with Bell Services at BC, and when you're done at Epcot, uber over to the Polynesian with your bags from BC. That way you'll have access to your bags when you need them.

I get that which is why I may bring me a change of clothes to our morning park as well as our bathing suit. We will see when the time comes.

If anything we would grab our bags mid day.
