I have a friend that is trying to do this trip this coming summer. But, she has no idea how to begin. Neither did I!!! So, I come to the trans. board and all you knowledgable guys. She is flying into MCO and going to WDW for a week. Then they are going to Vero Beach for a week. (I guess she liked my plans for 2005). But, then she wants to fly out of Melborne back to Boston. Doesn't want to do a rental car just to get from WDW to VB and then to airport. Have any of you done this and what is the best bet? I thought maybe a towncar service from MCO to WDW. Then a service from VB to Melborne but didn't know how to handle the trip from WDW to VB. If there's a good way, I might just duplicate it in a few years!!! THanks for any and all help on this one.

The only way you could do it would to be to get a car rental from MCO and return it at Melborne. This can be done, as most car rental companies don't charge a drop-off fee for rentals in Florida. I've done this several times in FL (not at Melborne) and never had a problem. The other option is to contact a towncar for the transportation. I'm sure they would be more than willing to make the ride from WDW to Vero. It probably would cost a pretty penny for that ride, but I'm sure it could be done. Just use the same company for the MCO pick-up. The ride from MCO to Vero Beach is $170 one way, so I'm sure it probably would be around $200 for a trip from WDW to Vero, but I'm sure they'd do it.

Vero is a great place , but I think your friend will want, need a car in Vero. You can walk to a pizza joint, but most everthing is a drive away. BTW you can also fly out of PBI it is about the same distance as MCO,and I am sure they have direct service to BOS.

A Week in Vero Beach without a car is not equivalent to a week in WDW without a car. I would want to explore. Also Nick is correct - it will cost an arm and a leg to do what she is thinkig about - I am only equating it to the outrageous charges they try and tag people with for just going out to Canaveral and Vero is another hour farther. Vero and Melbourne are also not a hop skip and a jump apart.

Rental car is the only practical way to do this. It is possible to take buses but it is a big hassle and costs more than a car rental.
Then you are stuck in Vero Beach without a car. Bad move.
