transportation between parks!!!!

We will have a hire car but as it is our first ever trip I am unsure if all the parks are linked by internal transport systems, is this the case?
If so do you leave your car on one park car park and use the internal transport or move the car between parks?
How does that work and how do you get back to the place you started from? does the transport stop at a certain times and does it run to a timetable?
I realise these may be really stupid questions but__________

There is transportation from your resort to each park, water park and downtown Disney. Unless you have a priority seating at a resort, you really don't need to drive but everyone has a different opinion on that issue.

If you drive to a park, you can go from park to park by bus too.

Buses usually run every 10 to 15 mins.

This can be confusing to people. To answer your question yes you can use the internal transportation system to get to all the parks. The Key is to understand how the system works. The transportation can be different depending on what park you are in and what park you want to go to. For example the Magic Kingdom and Epcot are connected by Monorail which makes for an easy trip but to get to MGM or AK you have to go back to the Transportation Center and take a bus. If you start in Epcot you take the bus to AK, the boat to MGM, or the Monorail to MK. Sounds confusing?? It really isn't that bad you just have to research the options. Where you leave your car depends on where you want to start.

If you are staying onsite then leave the car at the room and use the transportation system if staying off site and want to explore several parks in a day park at either Epcot or MK as they tend to stay open later.

You might get more help if you posted this on the Transportation board. There are some posters there who actually work for Disney transportation and are very helpful.

We always have our own car. When I had the wonderful opportunity to stay at the Grand Floridian (which is on the monorail line) I left the car at the resort and used the monorail for the MK and Epcot, but used our car to do MGM and AK. When staying elsewhere, I usually drive to the different parks. I don't want to have to wait for the buses. That is just a personal opinion and you will get many different views about that here . I just like the freedom of driving to and from myself.

You can either leave your car at one park and take the transportation or take the car to each park, your preference.

If you are going to park hop using Disney transportation, the rule of thumb is to leave the car at the last park you will be visiting for the day. You will be tired and not want to wait for a bus. The one exception to the rule is if the first park has an early opening (EMH) and you want to take advantage of it. The busses between the parks do not start up that early.

All transportation (between parks) for the MK is located at the TTC. From the TTC, you can take busses to MGM or AK, and the monorail to Epcot.

From Epcot:
to MK - monorail
to AK - bus
to MGM - bus or boat

From AK:
Busses anyplace

From MGM:
to MK - bus
to Epcot - bus or boat
to AK - bus

The monorail between MK and Epcot will operate for about 1.5 hours after the last park (Epcot or MK) closes. There will be bus service after that.

The busses between the parks will operate until about an hour after the park closes. So, yes, you can get back to your car from any park (provided it isn't too late)

The busses run at about a 15-20 minute schedule.
