Even though the two resorts are relatively close together, I imagine walking from CBR to Boardwalk is not a viable option. What is the best option for traveling between the two? The kicker is that we want our children to surprise some of their friends at their room early in the AM (early enough for us all to hit Extra Magic Hour at Disney Studios). We're in CBR, and they're in Boardwalk, and we are early risers, so we can do what we need to do to get there early.

Any thoughts?

You are right about not walking from the CBR to the Boardwalk. The distance may be doable, but there really isn't a safe walking path - just busy four lane roads that carry vehicles going a lot faster than most city streets! I wouldn't even attempt it with adults, let alone with children.

You can safely walk from the Studios to the Boardwalk, though. There'a a very nice path - it's less than a mile and lighted in the evenings/nights. If the early entry bus to the Studios from the CBR is early enough for you, you can take that to the Studios and then walk over to the Boardwalk. Or if you have a car, you can drive to the Studio lot and walk.

If the above options don't work for you, your best bet would be to grab a cab. Should be a quick ride and if you all fit into one cab, cost about $10, including a good tip for the driver. Cabs are generally plentiful and easy to get.

Have fun!

We like to take the bus to MGM and then take the boat over to the Boardwalk. We find the boat ride to be relaxing.

As the other posts say, the best way is bus to MGM, then boat to Boardwalk.

However, I suspect that taking bus to MGM, then a boat to Boardwalk, meet & greet friends & finally a boat back to MGM isn't possible before early entry to MGM.

Your options are drive, get a cab, or have your children ambush their friends at the MGM boat dock. (you can sit on the benches, feed the ducks, the fishes and even the turtles while you wait - they have a fish-food dispenser down by the dock)

You can take the bus to the Studios. Let the driver know you need to get to the Boardwalk. After they drop people off at the Studios, they should be able to take you over.

By the way... near Aruba, (on the opposite side of the trees) there is a Crosswalk with lights that will take you over to the Reedy Creek station. From there, there is a sidewalk to the Boardwalk.
