I'm not too sure on this subject, so please correct me if this scenerio is incorrect. Someone told me that you can have points at multiple home resorts & through transferring & moving around points, you can give yourself enough points at the home resort you choose to stay.

For example: I choose to buy 200 points @ Animal Kingdom from Disney and 50 points each through resale at Beach Club & Wilderness Lodge. If I move my points around the right way then I can make a reservation for Beach Club at 11 months for my entire stay?

No - transferred points will retain their original Home Resort status and could not be used at other resorts until 7 months. In addition, you could only transfer points into or out of an account once per year.

Through banking and borrowing you could have the use of three years worth of points to make one reservation. In the case you cite, you could have a maximum of 150 BCV points to use 11 months ahead. You could add to that number by having points transferred into your account by another BCV owner or waiting until 7 months to use your AKV points along with the BCV points.

I thought that "officially" you can't transfer the points to do the 11 month window but have read in several places that the reservation system is not robust enough to know which points were originally coded for another resort...so once you transfer say AKL to BWV they become "seen" as BWV in the system and you are good to go???

I am not trying to scam the system or anything, but I have this question too since we are trying to buy AKL and BWV.

Thanks!

this used to be true but (supposedly), MS can now track this.

in any event, i wouldn't recommend buying on the assumption that you'll be able to "scam the system." (and if you're buying points at one resort to use at 11 months at another resort, i'm not sure what else you'd call it.)

Keep in mind, 'Transfers' only occur between two totally separate membership numbers. If you have a single membership number with a master contract, and several add-on contracts, you don't 'transfer' points at all. You simply use the points at 11-months for home resort, or can combine them any way you want for non-home resorts at 7 months.

If a person has separate membership numbers, then those two contracts are as separate from each other as yours is from mine. Those contracts must be managed totally separately from each other. Points cannot be directly combined at 7-months to make a reservation, and also the banking deadlines apply to each contract separately, meaning points are not combined to determine the total points that the banking percentages apply to.

Example: you have a 150 point OKW and a 50 point AKV add-on. You use all 150 OKW points one year. At the 50% window you can still bank all 50 AKV points since 50 is less than 50% of your total 200 points. If the two were instead under separate membership numbers, then at the 50% window you could only bank 25 of your AKV points.
