Hi I am hoping this is a simple question. I know that you can transfer points once each year. My husband and I have a joint contract and he has an individual membership same UY. If he transfer points from one account to the other can they still be banked as if they were not transfer points or do they lose the banking/borrowing rights once they transfer?

Thanks.

Yes, you can bank transferred points. You have to call MS to do it. You can have them transfer points and bank them same call, or you can call at a later date and bank them later. The banking window still applies.

Transferred points can not be borrowed so once you move them, they lose that ability.

They also don’t work well, if at all, online until the 7 month window and many have to call MS to use them during the home resort priority period.

When you transfer, they put the points in a temporary contract which won’t show on your dashboard. You won’t even see it until you go to book so you do need to keep track carefully.

Once transferred, they can be banked. Since both memberships are the same UY, thst keeps the banking deadline the same.

Okay so would we be better off booking 2 reservations separetly and having MS link them versus transferring the points and trying to book at 11 months? It is for our yearly reservation in a 1bdrm in the summer at VGF? I worry with all the people who bought into Big Pine Key to get the original building that the 11 month booking window will become critical even for 1 bedrooms,

That is what I do and we have never had to move rooms. If you did transfer them, what you could do is book as many nights as you can with the contract points at 8 am at 11 months online and then call MS at 9 am to finish up the booking.

As long as you get the first night at 11 months to start the trip, you wont have an issue. The reason that we just book each on their own is so if we do have to adjust, I don't need to worry about having lost the ability to borrow those points.

But, I too bought BPK for the larger rooms at VGF and am glad I did because I do think, over time, it will get harder...though, I honestly don't think owners who book at 11 months, outside of December, will have an issue getting 1 bedrooms.

Thank you. I just don’t want to miss out because of the two separate memberships.

Also we just added on at CCR for December trips so I know that will be yearly battle. I don’t want VGF to be the same. At least in the summer I have some flexibility with the dates.

I have a dumb banking question and didn't want to start a new thread.

December UY. I have 0 points from 2022 available. I have 16 points in my 2023 UY. Right now, the dashboard says 'banking window closed'. But that should only be for 2022 points.

Is it just like this for all my points until January and then I can bank my 16 2023 points? Just wanted to confirm I didn't mess anything up and come January or December I can bank my 2023 points.

That's normal. Your 2022 banking window is closed. But your 2023 banking window will open in December again. You should be good to go.

Is it possible to transfer points to another DVC member to complete a trip?
we are planning a large family trip and my daughter is short 20-30 points
any ideas?

Yes. You have to do a three way call with MS. The points retain their own UY and home resort.

So, if she has a different UY, you just want to be sure the points you transfer to her are good for the dates of her trip without her needing to borrow them.

This would count for both of you as your once per UY transfer.

If you're within 7 months, you can purchase one-time-use points directly from Disney to complete your reservation.

Transfers for a small number of points are pretty uncommon since owners are limited to a single transfer (in or out) per year, and you can't transfer banked or borrowed points. It's unusual for an owner to have a small number of stranded points; either they want to transfer all their points or they'll bank the leftover points to the next year. Best of luck.
