For those who have been on the Northern Europe itinerary, how are the seas in the Baltic? We are going in July.
Perhaps this is a kind of a dumb question but why then do they do cruises to places like Alaska? I know they only go in the summer when I presume the ice is less, but there is still ice. I am asking because on one hand I would LOVE to do an Alaskan cruise someday but on the other hand, Titanic would be on my mind a whole lot more than I would like. Thanks in advance for any insight!

I would never do a EBTA for this reason, unpredictable, and can be very rough, by luck last year was OK. I think my friends were on 2007 one when the Magic took on some water in rough seas.
Yep I was on the 2007 WBTA the cruise director said think it was a she said she has been on xx amount of transatlantic and this was the smoothiest she has been on.

Ive been wanting to take my kids to NYC so this cruise would be a good excuse or opportunity. I guess Im different then most people, but I wouldnt want to fly all the way from the west coast to Europe to see cc and ocean. I really like this itinerary. I like an even mix of ports and sea days when I cruise.
I think I've talked myself into switching from the EB to WB. I think losing an hour each day would drive me batty. I'm a morning person. It's currently 630 am. Tomorrow I'll be up at 400 am for work. I love getting up early and running on deck 4. I think if I woke up and the clock said 10 am I'd have an anxiety attack...not really, but I would hate it. Looks like from the quotes the WB will be right around what I like to pay for a cruise. I'll get back to you in a year on those restaurants. This would be such a great way to do it -- after some relaxing days at sea, to dock and spend some time in NYC. And it's a great time of year -- not too hot. If you need any restaurant recommendations, let me know![]()

Really hard the hour loss each day! I definitely prefer the gaining an hour.
Yes, I remember that on the EBPC in 2005 -- hated getting those reminder notes in our room that we were losing another hour!
They added two ports in Spain next year. This year there are 3 sea days between the Azores and Canada. Next year there is two. I guess we'll be flying across the Atlantic...teleporting maybe...I don't know. It does seem quick. The 2017 WBTA seems to have very few sea days compared to other WBTAs, how is that possible?

We leave the Azores at 2pm. Cadiz and Lisbon are full port days. This years TA has I believe had two stops in Canada, and no stops in Spain or Portugal. So, the itinerary is Barcelona, Cadiz, Lisbon (Which btw is Portugal, not Spain), Azores, New Foundland, New York? It just seems so many ports and so few sea days to me. Are the port times very short?
Baltic Seas were almost TOO smooth! I have to take meds and wear the band to keep from getting seasick and even I was wishing for a little more movement! For those who have been on the Northern Europe itinerary, how are the seas in the Baltic? We are going in July.
