I'm looking for some information regarding Trans Meridian Airlines. Looking at their website, they seem to be a charter airline. Has anyone ever flown them before? If so, how did you get from Orlando Sanford to either MCO or the port? They are quoting a price around $750 to get all four of us from Toledo to Sanford. This beats Southwest by $250 (from Detroit to MCO).

Thanks for the help.

Sanford is a very nice smaller airport. Easy in easy out. I have never flown TMA but have flown southeast airlines out of Sanford. You are about 1 hour away from port and there are car rental places right at the airport. Disney does not offer transfers but am sure you can find a car service if you don't want to do a one way car rental.

TMA is at an airport close to us and my boss actually flew them earlier this year to Orlando and we would have also if they would have had more flights (and wouldn't have had a storm to cancel in). She said that they were happy with the flight, comparable to Southwest, but that was all she said.

I think they may have started out as a charter flight service, or still offer that, but it appears they are doing more and more regular flights. I would give them a try!!!

I have been flying in and out of Orlando Sanford on TMA almost every other week for about the last three months. I normally fly to and from Harrisburg, PA the airline itself has been very accommodating and they even provide you with a Sandwich (more then the other big airlines). From Orlando Sanford to Port Canaveral it is just about 70 miles and it will take about 1 hour and 15/20 minutes. The airport is small but nice and I have been paying between $134 and $169 R/T which is a very good price. If you don't mind the extra drive I think it is worth it!

I have flown Toledo-Sanford several times and it has always worked out well.

Most recently, we were booking WAY in advance, so I decided to book with a "major" airline so that we "wouldn't have any problems," as TMA is technically a charter airline, and one could be out of luck if they cancelled the flight (I've never had that happen). Well, the major airline pulled out of Toledo, so I rebooked with TMA.

The planes are spartan, but newish, and as clean as any plane. Certainly not a lot of leg room, but it seems that all non-first-class travel is basically an upgraded cattle car lately!:p

I've flown out of Detroit many times, and while it is certainly better than it used to be, it's still in many ways a challenging airport. It is so EASY to fly out of Toledo. Just park, walk to the terminal, wait maybe five minutes in the security line, get frisked (well, not everyone does, but it seems I always do--and believe me, I don't fit the profile of a security risk) and walk to your gate.

Sanford is a great airport to fly into. Just a little bigger than Toledo's, but clearly recently upgraded. Alamo and National are on sight, and just a walk out the door and to the right. Luggage retrieval also seems to be pretty quick atSanford (that has not been my experience in Toledo).

We cruised in March. We flew into Sanford the day before, rented a car and drove to the Ron Jon, had fun, I dropped my DH and kids off at the port, returned the car and a friend dropped me back off at the port. On the return trip, the limo service picked us up at the port, drove us to Disney, we stayed one night at the Contemporary and then the limo picked us up to go back to the airport. Exhausting to write, but it was a great trip!

Have fun!

TMA is going to start flying to Sanford from an airport nearby where I live next month. I am a nervous flyer, and not sure how I would "feel" about flying a "non-major". (I know, I know)

It would be cheaper and way more convenient compared to flying out of the other airport we use now.

How far is Sanford from WDW?

Another thumbs up for TransMeridian. My sis in Upstate NY used the often to MCO, and never had a problem. The prices were great.

Thanks for the positive reviews, and the info. They really will be very convenient for us if we fly them. (not on this trip, they aren't flying from here until November sometime)

As it is, we have to drive to the far side of St Louis to get to the "main" airport, but TM will be the first (and only!) airline flying out of the new airport that was built on the Illinois side of St Louis. It will take nearly an hour off our trip, and we won't have to worry about flights that put us driving in the heart of the city at rush hour, etc. I guess the hour we miss on this end will be made up on the Sanford-WDW end.

I'm sure when they start up here they will probably offer some really good deals to get people familiar with them too!

The drive from Sanford to WDW is not a bad ride at all. Basically all highway, and if you are willing to pay tolls you can avoid I4 all together, which is a great ride with little traffic (417).

Thanks for all the info everyone. It turns out that Southwest works better for us (we had some $$$ on account with them). Perhaps we'll use TMA on a future trip to FL.
