I have flown Toledo-Sanford several times and it has always worked out well.
Most recently, we were booking WAY in advance, so I decided to book with a "major" airline so that we "wouldn't have any problems," as TMA is technically a charter airline, and one could be out of luck if they cancelled the flight (I've never had that happen). Well, the major airline pulled out of Toledo, so I rebooked with TMA.
The planes are spartan, but newish, and as clean as any plane. Certainly not a lot of leg room, but it seems that all non-first-class travel is basically an upgraded cattle car lately!
I've flown out of Detroit many times, and while it is certainly better than it used to be, it's still in many ways a challenging airport. It is so EASY to fly out of Toledo. Just park, walk to the terminal, wait maybe five minutes in the security line, get frisked (well, not everyone does, but it seems I always do--and believe me, I don't fit the profile of a security risk) and walk to your gate.
Sanford is a great airport to fly into. Just a little bigger than Toledo's, but clearly recently upgraded.
Alamo and National are on sight, and just a walk out the door and to the right. Luggage retrieval also seems to be pretty quick atSanford (that has not been my experience in Toledo).
We cruised in March. We flew into Sanford the day before, rented a car and drove to the Ron Jon, had fun, I dropped my DH and kids off at the port, returned the car and a friend dropped me back off at the port. On the return trip, the limo service picked us up at the port, drove us to Disney, we stayed one night at the Contemporary and then the limo picked us up to go back to the airport. Exhausting to write, but it was a great trip!
Have fun!
