Trails End will reopen July 17 with hearty family-style skillets for breakfast and dinner. Price and menu information, as of this posting, have not been updated on the TE page but below is the menu from the official Disney Website:

Mosey on over to Fort Wilderness to start your morning with an oven-fresh pastry basket and berry granola yogurt parfait for the table, followed by a hearty family-style skillet with smoked brisket and eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheesy potato casserole. Of course, no breakfast is complete without Mickey waffles! Adults can sip on Moonshine Morning Cocktails – a Pioneer Mimosa with passion, orange, and guava juices and a Mountain Mary with moonshine.

Dinner at Trail’s End is a rootin’ tootin’ good time that starts with hushpuppies and skillet cornbread with a chopped garden salad for the table. The family-style Smokehouse Skillet comes with pecan-smoked brisket, rotisserie chicken, andouille sausage, fingerlings potatoes, green beans, and buttered corn on the cob. Pork spare ribs, peel n’ eat shrimp, and cornbread-crusted salmon are available as tasty add-ons to your meal.
But be sure to save room for the Covered Wagon Sundae – a wagon load of ice cream, toppings, brownies, cookies, and chocolate-covered bacon! Adults can even kick back with Moonshine Cocktails.

"Pork spare ribs, peel n’ eat shrimp, and cornbread-crusted salmon are available as tasty add-ons to your meal." This used to be included in the buffet, was $37 per adult.....

Guess we’ll be sticking with P&J’s for the ribs, fried chicken, and strawberry shortcake

I hope you are right, Lehuaann.

However, when TE closed, Disney amped up the P&J menu with the items from the old TE buffet menu. So when TE comes back on line, I wouldn't be surprised to see Disney pull those old TE items off the menu to force people back to these more expensive options. That's just the stupid kind of thing they would do. We could go back to the days of P&J's offering only frozen pizza, a 2/8 piece chicken dinner with sides, and a bbq sandwich at dinner time.

I'll pass for now on TE and watch what happens at P&J's. I can whip up quite a dinner myself for $30-38 a head budget.

PS - Whispering Canyon just next door at Wilderness Lodge offers skillet meals with more choices and has been for a long time. I knew buffets would not return but I am a little disappointed in the skimpy offering for dinner.

PPS - and the drink/beverage is not longer included in the price as it once was (diet Coke and chocolate milk were my choice combo at breakfast). Is that consistent with other AYCTE skillet places? And they are listing/pushing the high mark-up fake cocktails and alcohol.

PPPS - <sigh> I was a huge fan of the old TE breakfast buffest and a supporter of the dinner (although it had been years since I paid full price for it). Nice memories .... :cloud9:

4PS - it's a good thing I got a copy of the old Trails End Bread Pudding and Walnut Syrup topping recipe. That's a keeper!

I’m with you! I’m sticking with P&J take out. Love their fried chicken, ribs, mash Potatos, Strawberry shortcake. This new menu sucks. I’ve been so missing Trails End too. I guess Disney just doesn’t get it, anymore. Too many changes. Why do they have to keep changing everything?

BamaEd, I was just 🤞🏼🙏 P&J’s menu would continue to fall in line with HDDR...but, nothing surprises me anymore. Probably get more sausage like Ohana.

And the add-ons for ribs, peel shrimp, and salmon? Is that like the country version of a Narcoosees upcharge? lol. Desperate times...

Also that Bread Pudding recipe, BamaEd, we’ll just place an order and meet at your loop :teeth: That little piece of heaven (along with biscuit and gravy and cobbler) will be sorely missed.

D you Covid :badpc:

Why do they have to keep changing everything?

Inflation. However, they are not just raising prices...it’s raise, reduce, and replace. Then there’s staffing issues. Simpler menus/recipes work when understaffed. Which is why I hope things change with the reopening of HDDR. But if the bean counters pacify cheaper/less ingredients for more profit, I just don’t see it

No fried chicken...??
Another disappointment from Disney
Hopefully they don't screw up P&J and Hoop de doo

What is this P&J's? My concern is these truly dumbed down menus are here to stay. They're going to streamline everything so they can get that cursed dining plan up and running. FW was our very first stay at WDW way back in 1987. It's been 10 years since our last stay and I was so looking forward to being in a location that made it easy to go to TL- now who cares- that menu is gross.

Pre-pandemic, P&J's Southern Takeout was the take-out side of Trails End. It had a limited menu of pizza, fried chicken, and maybe a bbq sandwich for dinner (basic breakfast items too but limited). The last few years it had grown its menu slightly.

When TE closed for pandemic, many food items from their buffets (bfast and dinner) moved onto P&J's menu (plus adds like burgers) which then made it become a legit Quick/Counter service restaurant for the Fort. So my question was will it change back to the way it was or stay as is.

It is named for Paulette and Josephine, two long-time Cast Members at TE.

It is a cash register/counter in the doors between Hoop Dee Doo Review and the Trails End doors.

Well, I guess reopening is a start, but man I hope they eventually get back to buffet WITH fried chicken and not weak family style with reduced offerings and up charges for what was formerly included… don’t color me all excited for a return to this iteration of TE right now…

I guess I'll wait till the buffet comes back to TE.
Disappointed in the 'Ohana offers as well. What the heck is shrimp casserole anyway?
Oh well, time will tell

Im with ed, i can get quite a large steak for that money.
I like trails end for the options, and my kido liked it also. No options, for the money, just not going to happen for us. Not much she can eat anyways with the food allergies. And limiting the stuff will just make it worse for her. At lest with the buffet, she could choose and ask about things. I know she can get the allergy meal but sometimes thats a pita and it makes her feel abnormal.
