Trails End changes?

if we're lucky, they'll close it down alltogether and put in an Outback.

We had considered TE in the event we were hungry and around the Fort, as well as out of food in the cabin.

It looks like it's no longer an option.

As for the quality of the food - it has gone way downhill and the drop, IMHO, coincides with the dining plan.

Last year we did the premium package, which, lucky for us, includes everything and all the restaurants except for V&A. We did all the signature restaurants and found a surprise in there.... Citricos. I think it's a hidden gem.

We tried filet mignons in a few of the restaurants - The Yachtman, which used to be outstanding, Narcoosees' and Citricos - the stead was by far the best at Citricos. Plus, it wasn't crowded and the service was very good.

So, if you're interested in a good meal in a quiet setting with good servcie, try Citricos. I know I'll certainly go back.

FWIW - California Grill used to be tops on our list, and last year, we were disappointed with the food and the service. I think they've just become too popular. We were always good for at least 1 meal there, this upcoming trip, we aren't even going to bother.

Quite frankly, we've given up on the restaurants in Disney. They ain't what they used to be.

We go the take out route, which I really like. We have four kids under 10 and our time is more enjoyable if we can eat in our house, car, or trailer, depending upon where we are at the time.

This last time at the fort, DH asked for the nachos without hot peppers and they were great! We learned about those peppers the visit before last. We always get the white meat chicken meal for the family and think that's a good deal when we compare how much we spend on fast food junk for our family. We always have enough food left for another meal. Same with the pizza, although, I don't care for the pizza as much.

My kids call it the Pizza Planet pizza, because it has a similar flavor. And I say, YES! That's right! Really make them excited to eat that pizza. Heh.

I am getting ready to go eat there in about an hour. I surely hope that it isn't that bad. I am a very picky eater and I would hate to pay that much money and leave hungry. Plus, I will cancel my other ressies for TE if it is not good. Glad that I saw this. I had just read the article on AllEars. Let's hope for something good.

Well unfortunatey, as we come in to "free dining time" soon, all quality will be going down the drain. I was happy to be at the fort the two weeks BEFORE free dining hoping for lower crowds but i may also have to deal with inferior quality of food for the same superior prices as before. All i ask of disney is give me what i pay for, i don't think thats asking a whole lot.

Please report back with any Trails End reviews!

there you have it.... you get what you pay for.... free= free.

It just depends what you like and what your tastebuds will tolerate. As I said in my previous post, I like to get the nachos and the chicken take out.

I am looking forward to your review, though! Please write about your meal. I will live through you. I was just at the fort last week and I want to be back. I do believe I have been infected with something.

I will have to report back later. I do eat most of what they offer at Trail's End even though I am normally picky. I understand about being infected. We have already been here two days and were only suppose to arrive today. This is my 40th trip to Disney and my DD4's (birthday was last week) 10th trip. I just hope that they don't make meds for this infection!!! :rotfl:

Well I can say that when we were there in March, we LOVED it! SO lets just hope that it was just a few bad days :confused3

I hope you can give us a good report because this is one of my favorite places in WDW:sad:

Yeah, I don't think there is a medication, so much as there's a treatment. I think they withhold pixie dust when you arrive. For example, they won't sprinkle it on your Keys to the Kingdom cards and your Fort welcome packet. And then, they don't wish you a magical day and stuff like that. Oh, and no "Howdy!" when you arrive.

If they put in an Outback, the food will improve and so will the service. Time to renovate the restaurant and put a little effort into crocketts tavern.

um no, not exactly. i will be paying full price since free dining is after i leave. the free dining people will be getting the free stuff!

they are practicing bad food and service on the payin folk???:cool1:

Bad service at Trail's End? So what else is new ?!? We received the worst service at TE in January of any restaurant we've ever been to! The waitress was downright rude and hateful. Granted, it's the best food value in all of WDW -- but you have to have an awfully lot of patience to eat there!

And the verdict is..... WE LOVED IT!!!! As I said before, I am a picky eater and I thought that everything was good. The only bad part of dinner was the waitress but that is pretty much luck of the draw. I had a little a everything except the vegetables and I liked it all. I hope that the person that posted in AllEars was just there on a bad night. I may have to write to AllEars and give my opinion. I would say that if you are planning on eating there in the near future, go for it!!!!

Years ago Crocketts Travern was seperate form Trails End and they use to have the best Steaks Oh they wer so good! It use to make Crocketts that much better. We still go for Crocketts Travern & Nachos. We just try and stay away fro Trails End however, I think I would like to try the Breakfast & Mickey Waffles!

Free Dining isn't available if you stay at the campground, is it?
