Trails End Buffet

Where can one find information about this campfire and movie and other activities offered whence forth at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground?

(I'm not really that astute. But I had an itchin' to pull some fancy talk. But seriously, where? Lol. Thanks.)

Hi. We love Trail's End and an evening at Fort Wilderness is something we do every trip. On our Christmas trip, we'll be renting a golf cart, doing dinner at TE, go to the Chip and Dale show, then looping around the campground to see the Christmas lights at the sites, then finishing up with the fireworks and Electrical Water Pageant on the beach.

TE now has both fried and grilled chicken, and as much as I love fried, I have found the grilled is absolutely delicious. My kids always find enough to eat there - the mac & cheese is good, the pizza too. Make your own sundae always is good for ALL of us kids.

To find specific info on the Chip & Dale sing-along and movie, giddyap over to the Camping at Disney World board. There's a TON of info on there and they usually post the monthly movie schedule on the first of every month.

Real friendly folks, too!

Is it considerably cheaper than other WDW buffets? Does anyone remember the price per person? Are there any characters at all there? TIA! :flower3:

We ate there last week and I believe the price was 22 - 23 per person. There are no characters and the buffet was small. We ate there at 6pm and no problems waiting in line, but as we were leaving at 7:00 there was a long line of people just waiting to get a plate. We loved the chicken, ribs, and pizza, and would definately do this buffet again! :thumbsup2

sssshhhh, quit telling everyone how good this place is!! :goodvibes

i agree about having ADRs for TE. You will definitely have to wait for the dinner if you don't. If you are lucky enough to snag a rocker, it's not such a bad wait at all. You notice the relaxed pace as soon as you step off the boat!

We ate at TR for lunch July 19, no wait. We arrived around 1:00 and the cost was 18.99 pp but we had TiW 20% off, so it was cheaper for us!! Great food and very nice servers! I think they start serving lunch at 11:30 and stop around 2:00.

Hi Guys,

Have been lurking and reading all this great information for years and finally decided to become a posting DIS member myself:)

We are staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge for 9 days in August and I am thinking about trying out the Trails End Buffet at Fort Wilderness for the first time. I know it will be a little bit of a transportation hike for us, but I am a New York living transplanted Florida girl and i sure do miss my Southern Fried Chicken!!!!

Wondering what experiences and opinions anyone may have regarding this dining location? Is it worth the hike from AKL? I will be traveling with two children ages 10 and 15 and think they may like this location as well.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Kristin

I too enjoy good fried chicken, this is why we chose Trails End on our last trip. We thought it would be a nice change from all the other TS restaurants we had been dining at. Sadly, we did not enjoy the food here at all :sad2:. To top it off we had to take a boat ride from MK just to get there, which in the begining sounds like a lot of fun, but getting back was a nightmare. Tons of people waiting to get on the boat (only one) so you might have to wait for it to come back, which can take a while. We felt it was a waste of time.

However everyones taste are different. Try it for yourself you might enjoy it.

Does anyone know if I am driving to Trails End if i can park right next to the restaurant? On the website it said you may need to take the boat or bus to get to it. Where should i park and whats the easiest way to get there with a car?

No, there is no parking near the restaurant. It is located at the Settlement and the only ways to get to that section are bus or boat. The boats are coming from MK or CR/WL. The bus you can catch at the Outpost of FW where you can park your car.

Here's a link to a FW map. http://www.wdwinfo.com/resortmaps/fortwilderness.gif

You park at the lot by #9 and take a bus to the stop by #4.
