Trading with Jawas - details please

So are they just in a room and can walk around? or is it like a meet and greet line?

I meant to pick up some neat trinket to trade with them, and never did. I wound up rummaging in my purse and gave DS4 an inkpen to use in trade, and they gave him part of a build-a-robot R2 unit. DS actually thought it was awesome - we had just bought him a light saber at Launch Bay, and one of them stole it from him after the trade and he had to chase him down. It was hilarious!

This sounds like so much fun! I didn't know about it for our July trip, but will bring some trinkets to trade during our October trip.

Any experience with trying to trade the sort of polished stones easily available at science museums and the like? What about foreign coins?

If the Jawas accept money, it can't be traded out and will have no value to them. You will more than likely be given something of equal (0) value in exchange.

A stone may possibly be accepted and then traded out. During SWW, we brought key chains and lanyards to trade with the Jawas - items that another guest might like to receive. If you wanted to actually give a Jawa a gift, they can accept it and you can let them know it doesn't need to be traded out.

I've seen them be offered money and they refused it. I would think that is on their no go list. I think the stones would be fine. Another thing they have traded and I haven't seen mentioned are Legos.

my son offered a glow ring that lit up .. the kind you would use as a favor like from Party City or the Target dollar bins.
they loved it, and gave him back a little car or truck (like a fake Hot Wheel, I think).
we also saw them deny someone else, but I couldn't see what he had (adult, not a child).
So agree on the advice to consider something with some bling! :wizard:

it was a fun experience. I would suggest not invest in getting anything specifically for this purpose, but rather just recycling something from around the house, so in case the trade doesn't work out, you won't feel let down.

We've traded with them a number of times. They've refused a few things we've had, but they trade with us more often than not. We almost always get droid heads from them. We now have a large droid head collection. We normally bring them pirate doubloons. They seem to like those. We've also given them pins from pin trading when we forgot to bring actual trading items. They ALWAYS take those.

I have had some fun experiences with the Jawas. Both times I have traded pins that I either had extras of or just didn't want. One of those was a Star Wars pin, and I received a Star Wars pin that I didn't have in return. It was kinda funny, because I couldn't find the pin in my backpack, and the Jawa began to tap it's toes and get really impatient. it was really funny, but the pin made it totally worth it that I received. I haven't tried trading anything else, but I might do that for my December trip.

We can't wait to do this in 28 days! We got a bunch of small toys and beads from Party City for under $6. I hope the Jawas like our stuff!!!

What times are the Jawas around for trades? If I go in the evening will I miss them?
