Trading Points to book earlier???

My wife and I just bought into SSR, with opening date of 6/1/04. However, we are wanting to use our points for a cruise in 2004, rather than a park stay. (I already know it's not the best use of points).

We would like to go in the spring, while points are low, but obviously can't until 6/1/04. Is it possible to trade SSR points with another DVC'er who has points available at that time, and then let them use our SSR points after 6/1/04? Is that done?

I think you can borrow the points if you want to make a reservation somewhere other than SSR. At least that is what my guide said as my use year will not be until August but I can borrow those points to use before then

SSR points may not be used for DVC stays or any non-DVC option that occurs prior to the opening date of the SSR unit purchased. Since randytenn wants to cruise in the spring of 2004 and his SSR unit doesn't open until sometime in June, 2004, his SSR points cannot be used for the 2004 cruise. He'll either have to make a trade with another DVC owner who would like to stay at SSR after opening, or he could rent his SSR points (for a stay after his SSR unit opens) and use the resulting cash for the cruise.
