Toystoryduo’s Journal: Baby Steps are the Key... Celebrate Each Victory!

Hi Tracy!

Glad to see you--those summer days sure get full. I hope you and the kids are having a great time.

What a clever idea for Father's Day! I'm glad to hear he liked it.

I hear what you're saying about the mirror being a big reality check. I had the same thing happen to me when I was buying clothes the other day too. It's some kind of epidemic around here, I think. I'm tempted to say that all mirrors should be removed from dressing rooms, but I guess that would make buying clothes a bit more challenging. ;)

I hope you have some good long conversations about this, both by yourself and in prayer. You'll find what you need.

Take care, my friend.

I hope you get to make that trip to Cedar Point! It sounds like so much fun--I'm going to have to go there someday.

Thank you so much Amy, Cam, and pearlieq!

This whole weight thing has me a bit off kilter. :( I'm trying to remain positive and yet at the same time, I get discouraged because of how much weight I must lose. :(

I've been journaling my food, but I haven't done our meal plan for the week ahead yet. I'm going to try and get that done today.

Today's Plan:

* laundry

* research

* vacation Bible school

* grocery shopping (if DH's check comes in)

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning friends,

I've decided a couple of things in regards to my weight loss journey:

1) I'm going to weigh myself daily. That will help me to see what foods have an impact on my weight.

2) I'm going to journal my food for awhile. I'm not sure if I will post it here or not on a daily basis, but I do have a notebook that I will be keeping track of it in.

3) I'm going to continue exercising, but will not set specific parameters for workouts yet. (i.e. I must go to the gym 5 times a week.) The reason for this is that I enjoy walking and doing FIRM workouts as well and sometimes getting to the gym (despite how close it is) is too tedious.

With that having been said, I weighed in at 232.3 this morning. How does someone gain 2 pounds overnight? Check out yesterday's food:

B: 2 bowls of Rice Krispies
L: 2 pieces of cheese pizza
D: chicken caesar salad, 1 bag of Doritos (250 calories)
S: handful of pretzels
S: 6 pieces of cheddar cheese, 3 handfuls of nacho chips

I think it was the salt that added some gain!:rolleyes1 I will try and do better today!:goodvibes

So far:

B: 2 pieces of peanut butter toast

After I see how my progress (or lack of progress) is going, I think I will plan meals accordingly. Since I have a tendency to be an all or nothing girl, I don't want to make too many drastic changes immediately. Slow and steady wins the race.....

Today's Plan:

* Laundry (DONE! for now;) :rotfl: )

* Curriculum research

* Vacation Bible School (Both girls are going now, so my DH and I have two hours each evening to ourselves!:thumbsup2 )

* Disney Meeting

Today is the last day that the girls will see their friend for the summer. :( She is going to Virginia to stay with some family members and won't be back until just before school starts. I have a feeling that it will be an emotional day for both of my girls.....

That's about all from here! Hope everyone has a great day!

HI Tracy
i'm glad your trying to stay positive about the weight issues - remember were all here with the same problem!
you have identified what you meed to do & are now aiming to meet your goals - you will do it Tracy - you have a great family to support you
dont let this take over your life one day at a time.... :)

Hi Tracy,

I think you have come up with some good, concrete ways to tackle the weight thing. Its really easy to gain a couple of pounds in one night. And that works in reverse, the scale can show a quick mystery loss as well (like those better how bout you?). You are going to get there, its just a long road sometimes for the things we want the most.

I am sorry your dd's friend is going away for the summer, hope the goodbye wasn't too heart wrenching.

Hang in there Wish Sister, we are all here for each other.

Today has been a whirlwind of a day. My niece and nephew got here around 11:30 a.m. and I had my DH go get lunch for everyone at Wendys. He came home, we all ate, and then he got a phone call from his cousin in Florida. (The one with the tumors on his spine.) He and his wife are having a baby!!! :cool1: They each have a child from previous relationships and now will be having one together. We are super excited for them! :yay:

After we dropped my DH off at his friend's house, I got a phone call from my dad letting me know that my mom was having an appendectomy! I guess she has not been able to keep food down the past few days so my dad took her to the ER. They did some tests and when the doctor checked her on the examining table, she about fell off when he pressed on her stomach. The surgery took about 45 minutes. My dad saw her afterwards and said she was out of it and very groggy. If she is feeling better tomorrow, we'll go visit her after church. Please send prayers for a quick and complete healing for her. Thanks!

My DH just called and the bride and groom asked if they would stay and deejay the reception for an extra hour. So he won't be home until late. The extra money will be nice, but I could use a great big hug right now. :(

Hope everyone has a great Sunday!:goodvibes

I hope they will do until DH gets home Tracy

Glad your mom is ok now

Great news about DH's cousin expecting the baby :goodvibes

I LOVE the scavenger hunt idea, Tracy! So fun!

Glad they caught your mom's appendix problem when they did! Praying for a speedy recovery.

I really think Kohl's mirrors are rigged. I HATE them!!!!!!

congrats on the new baby news. That's always exciting!

I have 28 days left til I leave(God willing). Let's make a pact to stay on track for that long! We CAN do it!!! With a little (ok a LOT) of help from our friends!!

Have a good Monday!!

Hey Wish Sis,

I am so sorry about your mom but glad the surgery went well. Poor thing, she has really had a rough ride the past few days. That is great news about dh's cousin and the new baby on the way! That is a much happier and nicer phone call to get.

Hang in there, sending prayers for you and your mom.

Thanks for all your support and pm, what would I do without you???

Hey Tracy. for everything going on. I hope your mom recovers quickly!!! :wizard:

What great news about the cousins having a baby!!!

Hang in there!

Stacie

Hey Wish Sis,

Hope you are doing okay and that your mom is recovering nicely! Sending a big hug out to you sweetie!

Hi, Tracy. Sorry for going MIA on you again. Seems I can't get here as regularly as I would like to.

Hugs on the weight gain - I feel you on that one. We just can't give up. If we do, there's no telling how much weight we would gain! Keep going - you can beat it, one pound at a time!

Best wishes for your mom's speedy recovery and congrats on the new baby in the family!

I apologize - I forgot to look at the phonics program. I will try to remember to do that tonight when I get home and let you know which one it is.

Hope you have a good day!

Susan

Thanks everyone! The past few days have been a bit roller coaster like.:scared1: My mom is fine physically, but she has been off of her meds for a few days and it was really, really obvious. When we went to see her on Monday, my kids were a bit shocked by how my mom was acting. She was in a bit of a mania phase. They finally gave her her meds on Monday evening, but not before they had to move her roommate because of her behavior. When I spoke with her yesterday, she seemed somewhat better and may actually be coming home today.

We've had some other family drama, but it's too much to get into here. Again, the past few days have been a bit tough. :(

I don't have much of anything planned for today. I may do some Disney planning and budgeting and the girls will be working on reading today. We'll probably also go to the library today as well. That's it!:goodvibes

Weigh-in: 230.6
Exercise Minutes: 770

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Tracy
I hope the family drama is sorted out now
I hope your mom got to go home.
Do that Disney planning a great way to cheer yourself up & escape for a while ;)

Thanks Tracey.

Mom is home and doing okay. I'm hoping that her body readjusts to her meds soon or my dad may have a few tough days ahead......

We booked our MVMCP tickets last night! We are so excited!!!:yay: We also sat down and checked out menus at All Ears last night and found a way to save $100 on our dining in December!

Plan for today....Laundry, garage sales, walk....

That's about all from here. Have a great day everyone!

Hi, Tracy. Congrats on the Disney plans - they seem to be coming together nicely! I know you guys will have a fantabulous time there, mainly because of your great planning!

I hope your mom continues to improve. I am sure it is difficult for all of you when she is having issues with meds and so forth, but here's hoping she gets better soon and the stress lessens for you.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Susan

Hey Tracy. You always seem to have SO much going on. Glad mom is home and feeling better. And that's great news about the baby coming!:lovestruc

You sound like a determined woman and you have a great plan in place. I agree that going "all out" isn't the way to go. You need to make small changes that become habit. Also planning ahead for your meals is key! :thumbsup2 You're doing both, so you're on the road to success. ::yes:: Try not to look at the big picture of your final goal weight, but set smaller goals for yourself and treat yourself when you reach them.:goodvibes

Have a great weekend!

Hey, sweetie! Sorry I haven't been around. But I've been thinking about you and always WISHing you the best. I LOVE hearing about your WDW planning. You put so much time and thought and effort into planning wonderful vacations for your family, and the girls are going to grow up with all these amazing memories of special times shared. It's hard to be a planner like you are and NOT have control over some aspects of our lives. Often, on our weight loss journeys, we rebel against the structure and rules that dictate almost every moment of our lives, and the non-structure and the abdication of all "rules" happens around food and exercise. I think part of that is also becuase of the pleasure that comes at the moment of eating something indulgent.

I share your struggle, mightily, kiddo, and if I am learning anything about myself, it is that I have to apply the same (if not more) discipline to my weight loss efforts that I do to everything else. The planning, the budgeting, the preparation, and following through on all of that so that efforts are not wasted. It seems those are probably good guidelines for this journey.

I hope your efforts are fruitful, Tracy! You take such good care of everyone around you. I hope you see that the efforts you put into taking care of yourself are worthwhile. You are such a precious gift to all who know you.

ETA: I hope all is better with your Mom. :goodvibes And I really WISH you a fabulous weekend!
