Town Square Mickey

He sang the hot dog song to try and help my daughter warm up to him. Loved it!! I would recommend going at least once.

We've never met with Mickey at a time he didn't talk, even since the talking Mickey debuted. The last trip it was just DH and I and he did a magic trick with us. It was fun. Though I do agree with the PP above that said all in all they like the non-talking Mickey better.

Cute video iheartbklyn! I'm not sure if my Mickey-loving 2yo will love that or be scared of it, but I think we'll have to try it.

My kids (like 11 and 9 at the time) thought the blinky eyes were insanely creepy and it distracted them so much, they barely spoke to him. YMMV.

Thanks so much for all the replies. I am sort of thinking about doing this right away at rope drop, then heading off to BTMRR. It looks interesting! My DD is putting together all of the 'so you are the tooth fairy' and 'you are the easter bunny' and all of that. So this may really throw her for a loop!

Then the reco r dings are pretty vast. He commented on my clothing, specifically.

what did he say exactly?
i can tell you that if you watch just a few youtube videos you'll see that he says many of the same phrases.

my sister went the month before me and my other sister did in 2013 and she took a video of it and he then said some of the exact same phrases to me the next month.

i think its possible that a very very small amount of tthings are not prerecorded but i also think most of everything he says is a generic prerecording.

From a technical aspect I was very impressed, but agree with what others said about the speech being delayed. It did kind of take me out of it, but Disney has always been about progress. I could only imagine Walt would one day hope that kids would be able to interact with Mickey...and I mean REALLY interact with him.

As a child, I'm sure the experience is bar none...as an adult, I was just happy I got a chance to see him.

we were there on my birthday (sept 9) and he sang me happy birthday - hihlight o four first ever trip to wdw

It's an interesting experience and I would say if you've never done it before it's worth at least trying it!

My kids (5&3) loved talking Mickey. DD5 said he was real and the other characters were all just men in costumes.

He liked the feather in my pirate hat and asked if I had met jack sparrow.

We've seen talking Mickey 7 or 8 times since he started talking. I think the experience is great for adults and kids alike.

When he first started, it seemed he was very limited in what he could say. The last 2 trips (Dec 2014 and Feb 2015), Mickey seemed to have more varied things to say, as if perhaps there have been some changes since he started talking? Although he still does the magic trick almost every time to another group when we're in the room.

A PP said that he sang the hot dog song. That was my favorite talking Mickey moment, when he sang that to my then 2 year old DD. I'm pretty sure I was more impressed than she was though. :D

Not give it away but they have had different approaches to how Talking Mickey works over the years.

I think they have settled for what I call Skit Mickey where there is a pre planned activity that keeps control of the conversation in "Mickey's" hands. When it was more ad hoc so to speak (pun intended) there were a lot of pauses and miscues that made for a much more Uncanny Valley experience.
