Town Car Service Tipping?

We are planning to use one of the Town Car services for our May trip. While checking prices I found that one of the services quoted a price that included gratuity. The others I checked did not. In order to compare the pricing I was wondering what the customary tip is for a driver. I have never used this service before so I have no idea. Having worked for tips once upon a time I always tip generously but would like some sort of standard to work from.

Any suggestions?

I tipped $25 to our driver who took us to Disney and back to the airport. It seems that $10 is the standard tip ... but it should be based on service. If you didn't like the ride or service, then just adjust accordingly... :p

WE do not include gratuity.. I think your driver should work for the tip.. Would you tip your waiter at a restaurant if they gave you bad service?? And tip on both ends you mite not have the same driver.. We are one of the board Sponsors...Rabbit

$10 each way seems to be what the posters on the Dis do. However 15% is what is "costumary." it comes to about $13.5 (total).

do drivers reciece an hourly rate and tips are extra or do they work for tips like a waitress or water ??? and rabbit you never did give a range of a dollar amount ?

I am pretty sure only servers (and maybe bartenders) can work at a sub-minimum wage. I would assume the driver is paid at least minimum wage (My guess is higher then that) and recieves tips as a gift of thanks.

Perhaps in some companies the driver receives an hourly wage. At DH's company, the drivers revieve a percentage of the fares. The majority of their income is from tips.

I will be paying $85 rountrip from MCO to our resort. I plan on tipping $15 each way.

WDW2002 I thought the fares are around $100 for a round trip. That makes it $50 each way.. A $10 tip each way is 20%. It is easy to think the whole price each way. We were going to use a towncar in Dec and I stumbled onto a car rental for $135 with taxes for our time there. I could not pass up havinng a car for the whole time.

If driver is on time and car is clean and free of bad odors. It's a plus if the driver has a conversation with you giving you some tips, how the crowds are etc. You know some nice small talk to pass the time during your trip to WDW.:D

I am booked with Tiffany at $85 RT ($80 with coupon). Even 20 % is only $8.5 each way. But since from my understanding on "tipping guidelines" 15% or $6.38 each way is "standard."

I must admit most of my "research" into tipped positions is in the food service industry. But in all that research only servers (and maybe Bartenders?) came up as being allowed to be paid sub-minimum wage, as an hourly wage. In anycase, regardless of how an employee is paid, it must come to at least minimum wage, with tips included.

We used YourRide in July of this year and the driver was ever so patient as our flight was late and our luggage lagged an additional half hour past that making his wait over an hour. He did not complain, only smiled and waited. We wanted to make a Publix stop but did not due to being so late (it was 10 pm) and tipped him $15.00. The same driver took us back to the airport and we gave him $10.00 due to no delays. He seemed grateful, was this a good tip? We thought we were being fair  Our total fare roundtrip (Universal) was like $80.00. We were very happy with YourRide, I would use them again.

Well based on an $80 RT your paid 31.25% tip; so YES, IMO it was an OUTSTANDING tip.
