Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

I have to admit I'm the one who goofed here. Apparently when I registered, I included my previous ToT time and as the month progressed, I inadvertently forgot to resubmit my improved Proof of Time before July from where I came in much earlier than my ToT '13 time. Totally my fault! In all the daily rigors of life, kids, etc I totally forgot! Lesson learned: I have a pop up reminder for me to make sure I send in the updated PoT for my next RunDisney race in 2015!

Did you check to make sure that rundisney didn't still goof on your behalf? My friend did the same thing-forgot to submit any form of proof of time-and made it into C!

I have a reminder for the PoT submission for goofy too though! Haha

This is My first race ever! I run a 9 min mile but didn't have an opportunity to run a qualifying race.
I was placed in coral f in the 4500s. What are others thoughts on this? Am I going to be walking for a little? I mean I don't mind starting out slow.. For how long will it go on before things start loosening up?

I would try to start at the front of the corral. We are in F with submitted times of 12 minute miles. So if that is what the majority of that wave of people is, we are going to be slower than your running.

Thanks, we will shoot for the front :)

Another question , does anybody know if they will be selling the Disney new balance shoes at the expo? We have been waiting for an opportunity to get our hands on a pair and would be so sad if they didn't have them!

Based on the igift bag information, I would say yes.

Agree - start at the front of your corral, Disneyaddictz. You'll leave behind much of your own corral, and the corral in front of you will have spread out by the time you start catching up to its slowest folks. You may still get slowed down on the cloverleaf, but that's the case with almost all of the corrals. Once you're out on the highway, things will open up for you to speed up again.

So I have been so busy thinking about the race, that I just today starting getting excited for the party afterwards?

Did anyone go last year who can tell me a little about it?

What rides were open/characters were out? How were the lines? What were the options for food/drink?

Most importantly, were you able to enjoy the party after the race in the heat? I am a little nervous that I'm just going to crash after that...

I did this for the Princess 1/2 this year. My fault for misinterpreting things. However, I got myself to the front of the corral and things worked out ok with the new corral systems. I figured I passed about 1000+ runners. The small corrals and the timing worked out well.

I had a great time at the party last year! I did have a bit of a problem feeling a bit sick after. That was AFTER I changed my clothes in the changing tent and met up with a relative I was traveling with--so it didn't really "hit me" until a good half hour or so after I finished. My relative had me sit down and she got me some cold water and then I was good to go! :)

Rides I remember being open were Tower of Terror, Rock N Roller Coaster, Toy Story Mania...there were stands to buy beer and wine, I can't remember what kind of food was available for purchase but I remember another friend I met at the race said something about eating a hamburger, so I assume you can get those. :)
Oh, if you finish somewhat early there will be parts of the park that are closed off due to the race course going through---I just remember feeling very dazed and confused and not knowing where to go (that was during the time before my relative got me the cold water)

First I have to thank those that said to get in touch with RunDisney about corral placements. My no POT got me moved up to corral A based on the argument that there is not an equal opportunity for the ability to take on course character photos for the age challenged runners. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Only kidding. I do wish there was an area post run for those runners that physically are not fast enough to be able to stop and get photos with the on course characters. This discussion will be for another day.

My sister and I did this run last year. We did walk around a little bit after the run. TSMM was packed. Can't tell you about RnR or ToT as sister did not want to do those so we really did not see how they were. The other thing I remember is that the vendor stands we stopped at did not have the ability to use magic bands for payment. We were staying on property. So remember to bring some cash

Has anyone received the iGiftBag link or Final Race Communications? It says on the runDisney website they'll send it about a month out. I never get any e-mail from rD so I wasn't sure what the status was.

Thanks!

I got my final race instructions email from RunDisney on September 9th.

Will magic bands be accepted at the expo? I hope so, was kinda looking forward to just leaving wallet in safe at room.

Most likely not. The vendors will have their own machines for payment.

The rundisney store there will most likely though.

Vendors accept cash and credit but not Magic Bands. Only runDisney is set up for magic band payment.

There was some talk here recently about compression socks. It got me looking into them. On all of my runs, beginning at about 2 miles, my calves get really tight. My shins have been hurting too.

For those of you that use them, do you recommend compression socks for helping my issues. All the reviews I read seem to say it will help. If so, does anyone have a brand they love?

I know its late in the game to try new stuff but this problem is only happening in the last month. I have a marathon scheduled for 2 weeks after the ToT so I am looking for any help I can get to try and ensure I am able to finish it.

I wouldn't mind looking for them at the Expo but I wanted to try and get a few runs in before I go down there and see if they help.

I actually had the same symptoms and it was my shoes. It didn't happen at first, only the more I ran and pushed myself and added mileage. The local store fitted me and after a couple of weeks wearing them in the issue is gone. If you have been fitted it may very well be fixed with socks, but if not, shoes might be something to consider.

Don't forget that you will need your photo ID as well. I locked my purse in the trunk once only to walk from the parking lot into the expo and remembered I needed my ID which was inside it!
