Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

I am also staying at Beach Club and it is looking like my mom and her boyfriend will be coming with me. I have never done TOT so I am not sure the setup...but I am curious where and when I can meet them? I am probably keeping my phone on me during the run for music, so I was considering just having them bring my clothes to change into and calling them when I finish.

Also, can they be cheering/waiting at the finish? Both will have the party tickets, if that helps.

Did I read this right? You are an Eisner fan? Bc I am too and usually all I read is bashing. Just wanted to be sure it wasn't a typo. Not trying to start a debate of course, on this lovely running thread. I "grew up" in the Eisner Disney era and rather enjoyed it. (Ok, I wasn't a kid, but it's when I started to get into WDW and became interested the Disney co).
Lol - yep, you read right! Okay, even I'll admit that Eisner kinda flubbed the finances - but oh, how wonderful was WDW under the Eisner regime?! Not a spec of garbage to be seen, incredible new dining every month it seemed, short waits, happy faces... MAGIC! Any time I see a thread here about how much better WDW "used to be", it nearly always turns out to be a DISer who experienced it in the Eisner days :)

Just signed up last night! So excited! I've been eying this race for some time but I'm not a runner even though I've always wanted to be. I figured a trip to Disney which depended on me running 10 miles would be the perfect motivator! I went out for my first "run" yesterday and ran about 2.5 miles in 30 minutes. Not terrible for my first time out. I just hope the weather stays mildish here in Maine so I can get out and run.

That is good!

I highly recommend following one of the many training plans out there. Galloway's plan linked to from the rundisney site helped to get me ready for the TOT last year. :goodvibes Even if you aren't a run/walker, the mileage was reasonable and the progression worked well for me.

Thanks! Yes, I am planning on loosely following Galloways plan on the site. Just starting early so hopefully I will be that much more prepared come race day. Already looking into local races too!

So excited for TOT weekend! We will be down for a couple of weeks during this time. Me and DD are doing the 5k(my first one as of yet) and DS is doing the 10-miler. I am using this as a motivator to get into shape, lose weight and train. I have lost 22 pounds so far and still have about 70 to go. Running is getting a little easier, I do the Galloway run/walk/run. I can definitely run for longer periods of time now. See everyone there!!

Registered for ToT 10miler today! Very excited, also have been looking into this race since the first. DD will be coming with me and she says she wants to do the 5k, we are doing a Glow Run 5K next month so ill see how she feels about doing it after and then Ill register for the 5k. I am so excited for my first RunDisney event! If all goes well I would like to do the half for Marathon Weekend and then the 2nd Avengers Half if it does well this year.

Folks are reporting TOT is SOLD OUT! Cant believe it - took until June last year, even later the year before. Hope all that wanted to were able to register!

Run Disney still says 95%. I wonder if you try to register it says sold out.

Yep! The 10miler is showing sold out! That's just crazy! Even more incredible is that W&D HM sold out first! I guess we'll be stuck with a 5k or maybe we'll go mid october for the super low crowds....

Good luck to everyone who got in!

Wow so glad I registered yesterday! If I waited another day I would of had to wait another year, can't wait, it'll be fun!

UNBELIEVABLE HOW FAST DISNEY RACES ARE SELLING OUT!!!!

So glad I didn't sit on the pot and wait to register for ToT!!! P.S. I love the ideas about the damp towel in the ziplock and the backpack in the RunDisney bag. Awesome.

Most of the year is brutal in south Louisiana, but I guess the temps in the high 90s or the triple digits with high humidity where just walking from your door to your vehicle leaves you soaking wet has one advantage, being ready for the ToT in October in Florida!!

:banana::banana:

For anyone who didn't get a chance to sign up, I urge you to consider volunteering at the race. I did at the Royal Family 5k during PHM weekend and it was great. They gave me a raincoat with the race logo and a snack box of food. If you volunteer enough times in a year you also get admission tickets too.

Here's the picture of my raincoat. I am wearing it today even!

Just an(other) FYI to new people looking to runDisney that there may still be charity spots available through the race's charity partners. Additionally, there are travel groups who have registrations and may be able to assist you with entering the race, still. Last year we scheduled a late trip and registered for the 2013 TOT in mid-September, just a few weeks before the race. It's sold out faster this year, so that timeline may not work this time around, but it may still be an option right now for those interested.

I actually received the following e-mail from GET Travel, who we went through for our last minute TOT entries last year:

No idea how many they might have or when they might sell out, but if you missed out and want to take a shot, there you go.

ETA: They sent this just before noon, after it had been announced on the runDisney page that the event was sold out. Assuming that means they still have/had registration opportunities since they waited until the sell out to e-mail past customers about it.
