Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

Tons of people buy stuff at the expo and run with/in it. Is it bad? I dont think a belt is a big deal.

If you're an irritable runner it can definitely be a problem. And a belt, OMG. I bought a spibelt, a double. Everyone said that they don't bounce and they are sooooo great. I had to go to Seattle to get it b/c my local REI didn't have it. Didn't even make it one run. Took it off. Awful. SO bouncy. Returned it.

If I were in the middle of a race, that $30 would have ended up on the side of the road. OK no, because it would be holding all my stuff, but I would have wanted it to be gone!

I bought a hat at the Disneyland expo and wore it for the race, but that's a hat. I've worn those before. It was risky business, though, because it has a special thing in front that works like a gutter for sweat (ew) and helps move it to the back of your head (never had such a sweaty braid!). It worked, but it might not have been fun.

Does anyone here run with a runners fanny pak of some kind? I'm looking for one and would love some suggestions.

Thanks

I have had a few, and just bought another clip on amphipod (that I already despise even without running with it, and I'll be returning asap), but I keep returning to the super-basic RoadRunnerSports one that probably doesn't even exist anymore.

For longer hotter races I use a Nathan Hydration pack (the Intensity) but I just saw that Nathan updated to a new one that shows Nathan read my mind about what was wrong with the Intensity. Absolutely yearning for it, but my Intensity isn't even a year old. Anyway, that has to do with race belts because if I wear the Nathan I don't use a belt.

Only issue with the belt is that it slides from side to side, but that's only mildly irritating. If I wore it high, like on my actual waist, and tighter, it wouldn't do that.

Is it sad that I am still considering get one of them at the expo anyway? I don't know where to buy them locally and I really want to be able to touch and look at them before I buy one.

I ran a Disney race with 2 friends earlier this year and they bought Fitletic belts at the expo and wore them at the race. They didn't mention any issues with them, but they also took it very easy at the race; stopping for pictures, stopping to walk, and just generally taking it slow. I think if you are truly "racing" it would be a bad idea to try something new on race day, but if you are doing like my friends did, then something new probably won't make much difference.

They sell Fitletic items online--also, over the past several months I have been seeing their products in Marshalls and TJ Maxx--they with their old name though, Ifitness. Same products, just different word on the front. That's probably why they are at those stores, just getting rid of the stock with the old name on it. I bought a Ultimate II belt for just $15! :)

where will youi be two weeks from this time (12:40am) ?
a) in the broom lady-mobile
b) enjoying the after party
c) sleeping
d) drinking away the pain at a resort bar

B: :dance3: LOL!

+1 for Fitletic (formerly ifitness). Great belt, no bounce. I carry two 8oz bottles. There are different models depending on what you want to carry (one pouch or two, different # of gel holders, etc.) so you may want to check out the models. You can find some older ones on amazon which is where I picked up the Ultimate II which was no longer made. I understand wanting to feel/touch it first as I was like that too but as I was unable to find it locally, I just bought it online. I would caveat that if you are small waisted, these don't cinch down that much. I have a generous muffin top :guilty: and at the smallest setting it really only holds two bottles. Also you may want to see if you can get the bottles with clips rather than belt loops as if you cinch the belt, the bottles ride onto the belt adjusters (a plastic thing) and getting the bottles back on while running is problematic as it hits the belt adjuster. I'll also say that if you can find a lower priced option that works for you, I'd go for it as Fitletic is pricey.

Great score - so lucky!!! I bought mine at a discount off Amazon and still paid $28 (+another $20 for two bottles)!

Has anyone seen the TOT t-shirts or merchandise pics?

Interested too!

Still no final race instructions for me so I'm going to email them today. Happy final race prep, all! :goodvibes

cheers,
:)

I recently started using a flipbelt. So far it stays in place and does not bounce at all. It doesn't slip much, maybe ever so slightly when I wear it with compression tights that are a smoother fabric. But, I can barely tell.

I've tried out lots of belts and so far flipbelt is my favorite! It doesn't really move at all - very comfortable, and holds all of my stuff. I also like that it's pretty easy to access what's in there even when I'm on the move.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and advise on the fanny paks. I did pick one up yesterday from Dick's but not completely sure about it yet. Will try and get in a good run/walk tomorrow night and see how I like it. I'll take a look at the expo as well. Excited to see what they'll have.

If I'm planning to go to the Expo on Friday morning - what time is a good time to show up? It opens at 10am so what time will people start lining up?

This is my first Disney race - well, my first race period so excited for the experience of it all. I'll probably be one of the walkers/runners but as long as I finish it will be a victory no matter what my finish time is. :woohoo:

WOW, we are getting close now. Any Floridians out there that have a look at the 10 day forecast. Lie to me and say it will be low 60s, with low to no humidity and not chance of ran for days before and days after. Please!!!

This will be our second Disney race. Ran in January, the Dopey. I've run tons of races but this is a whole new experience. I mean, it's Disney, it's put on great, tons of excitement and to run through the parks in early morning all by yourself was incredible. Wearing the medals around afterwards is pretty great too. I'm sure and can't wait to experience the night runs!!

Does anyone have the latest on the New Balance shoes? I'm assuming its the same design as the other races this year (Marathon)?

Also, any details on signing up for a spot?

I think it is the same thing - get on the website at 6 am and try to sign up for a spot. I had such a hard time signing up at time that I gave up and just bought some for kids sizes, for which there is no wait, no signups.

Sorry. Right now, 82/72 with the typical Florida afternoon showers.

But who knows?? I'm still hoping for a freak cold front that Saturday. :)

Stand on your head and look in a reversed mirror and you could see 60. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2: I am betting on close to 90 for the high and higher humidity

Thanks

I picked up a single pouch Fitletic with side slots for the GU and keys. Pouch is just large enough to hold my Nexus 5 phone. Very comfortable.

I believe the high last year was 89,I think you should consider yourself lucky if the high is 85.The race last year was hot and humid, a high of 85 should make for a somewhat cooler evening,it's too early in the month to expect significantly lower temps.

Currently at the time of the race it is forecasted 79 degrees with 92% humidity. Curious as to how it will change over the next few days...

Less than two weeks to go and I've been sidelined by a pulled leg muscle and a cold. Taking time off to heal, but hoping I should be good to go by the end of the week. Then it's time for some fun, food, and a 10pm run!

I feel yah spideymike. This season has been terrible for me. I'm just working towards crossing the finish line this year.

Ummmm.... no, sorry. ;) I'm about 2 hours west of WDW and it's been raining nearly nonstop for days... we're still in the mid-80s for highs and lows in the mid-low 70s. If the rain stopped, we'd be up near 90, for sure. My city actually hit 101 just over a week ago. :faint:

Currently hooked up to a wonderful portable belt and transmitter package for a capsule endoscopy test for Crohn's disease. Near tears. This has been a nightmare year for me and this race can't come fast enough. It's all that's keeping me going and the motivation to finish the race is the same motivation that's getting me through the 20 thousand tests they've done.

That and hugging stitch at our ohana breakfast race day morning! That's a huge one too!

We're having breakfast on Saturday with Stitch too!! 8:40, couldn't find a later one :(

I hope you feel better!
