Tower of Terror 10 Miler 2014

Since this will be our first MNSSH party, I'm looking for suggestions on the Friday night versus Sunday night. The advantage of Sunday is too eat ALL the candy right then and there.

Also, never been during the Food & Wine Festival. What's that about and what should I do or not miss?

Thanks!!!:confused3:confused3

I bet the Sunday will be less crowded - Fridays are usually more crowded for those events. I am headed to the Thursday night party.

I'm gonna be exhausted but here we go :yay::

Thursday - Arrive in Orlando @ 10:55 and take ME to POP. Jump off bus and head to EPCOT for Maelstrom and some food (no wine yet!). Meet up with friends and enjoy the night.
Friday - Expo in the morning followed by one of two options. 1) Back to POP to relax by the pool or B) head to Studios to say goodbye to Ralph and Vanellope. MNSSHP that night.
Saturday: Happy Haunted 5K followed by an early lunch at BOG in MK. Float around MK for a bit before heading back to POP to relax. Last meal around 4-5 then get dressed and ready for the big show! Planning on closing out the Villains Bash (as long has I am standing upright).
Sunday: Sleep in a little then get to EPCOT by 11:00 for F&W (now is when the wine comes in :woohoo:). Flight out is at 7:10PM.

I know it's crazy and I may not be able to work come Monday but it will be totally worth it. :dance3:

it's exactly how it sounds. Google disney food blog and you can see menu items prices and best of all pictures. The weekend will be more crowded for it but if you like eating and/or drinking you should go. I recommend lamp chop at Australia Kim chi dog at Korea the steak at Canada just to name a few

My race day plans are to eat a big breakfast somewhere at a good buffet. Then to the Expo to get my packet. From there I might check out a couple resorts and take it easy. If it is really hot I will head back to my hotel and hit the pool to keep cool. I am thinking of eating dinner between 4-5 and getting a few snacks to munch on while waiting around to run the race. I'll be in the first bus to HS for the race and then walk around and soak up the atmosphere since it is my first Disney race.

I'm not an outgoing person but hopefully I will be able to find someone to strike up a conversation with while waiting around. :thumbsup2

Can't believe it's only 8 days until I arrive.

So, who else is going alone for this race?

I will be alone for the race, this is also my first Disney races, have a friend meeting up at the villains bash afterwards and my daughter and mom will be staying at the hotel room.

You'll be getting up at 3:30am,I'll be going to bed at 3:30am after doing Halloween Horror Nights Friday night.Saturday I'll be sleeping until I get up,11am,noon,whatever,the later I get up the fresher I'll be for the race.I think I'll go to MK for a few FP + scheduled rides, then to Epcot to see the first Starship concert at 5:30,get something to eat and head over to DHS by boat, last year I walked over from Epcot and got up early, not this year,I have 10 miles to run, nothing to tire me out.

Thanks for mentioning Starship. That sounds like a nice relaxing night. I had forgotten about that. Another senior moment.

Also doing MNSSHP Friday night. No alcohol in the MK to temp me like EP and a great way to get on a later schedule. Sleeping in, hitting HS for some early FP+ and riding TOT for motivation! Then onto EP for a late lunch.

I have a 3:15 Tutto Italia ADR - I'd wanted more like 4, but the closest was 4:30. I figured this way we would be done by 5 and walk back to the BC to have a couple of hours at the pool, hot tub, to relax, then get showered and changed and ready. I eat pasta at least every other day so I know my stomach can handle it, so I figured I'd pile it in and then have a banana or something as I walked to the race. I didn't want to risk an upset stomach from nerves closer to the race, or anything like that. But, it isn't an option to run at night here (he was caught, but there was an issue with a guy raping joggers early in the morning the last couple of weeks! that's right, joggers plural). So the latest I've ran is really around 7pm lately and inside at dusk, so I eat after. I'd like to run that late to have a more cemented idea but since it's not an option, I'm open to any thoughts about why this plan will fail miserably!

Sunday will be sleeping until around 10 and then off to EP for the day and Biergarten lunch to celebrate. Definitely hitting F&W pretty hard too and the concerts. So very happy I booked my hotel right after registering so I snagged BC. I'm going to avoid busses as much as humanly possible!

Side note - will wearing my medal the next day at EP be...weird??

I wore my medal for four days after and I was not alone. Actually by the fourth day I was feeling silly, but brought it because we were going to DHS and I wanted it on TOT. I forgot to take it off after, and while sitting waiting for DH and DS to be done with RnR another runner walked by. He had his medal on and told me he was feeling silly and was going to take it off and then he saw me. We made a pact to keep them on that day. So I did.

Wearing it once home will be odd. At least, out in public. So wear it while there!

Nope! And you'll see plenty of others, including me, doing the same! It's a grand Disney tradition to wear your medal/s around the parks after the race. :cool1:

As everyone else has said. It is not weird. I will be wearing mine while I am there. This is my 3rd RunDisney event to run in with a few others events as my friends photographer. There will be A LOT of people wearing them.

Have a great time. Aside from the heat this was a fun run last year. Next year I will be going to do the F&W 1/2.

Thank you! I'm starting to get that nervous excited feeling, really looking forward to it. I am signed up for the Star Wars Rebel Challenge as well and deferred to 2016 Disney World 1/2 so I'll have a few more going after this lol.

I am going to do the Goofy this coming January. The other thing to plan for is the anniversary years as they do special medals. This year is the 10th for Goofy. A nice spinner medal that was like the 2013 20th Mickey (full).

Now I am planning to do the Dopey in 2018 as that year will be the 5th year for the Dopey and 25th for the Mickey. :thumbsup2 Double up on the bling.

Now here comes the crazy planning part. In 2019 to celebrate my 60th B-Day I am seriously thinking about doing a full Ironman. 4 1/2 years to train hoping I can make it in less than 24 hours. :lmao: :lmao:

That's my plan as well, when the Dopey was first announced I thought man people are nuts! But now that I enjoy running I am planning on 2018 Dopey, enough time to feel comfortable doing a full.

Aside from the Ironman and the turning 60 part your RunDisney schedule seems identical to mine.I've done TOT the last couple of years and will again in 8 days, have done the Disney full the last couple of years(have the 20th anniversary spinner medal),doing Goofy in January and I am counting the days to doing Dopey in 2018 for the 5th anniversary as well as the 25th for the marathon.I can't see myself doing Dopey or Goofy every year but the full I plan to do every single year as it's my favorite race, you can't beat running through what basically is the whole Disney property.Haven't done Wine and Dine but that's another one I can't wait to do next year.Aside from Goofy between November and March I'm also doing a series of Half marathons called the Florida Storm series that's 5 races and you get extra special medals if you do 3,4 or 5 of the races,I'm signed up for all of them except the Sarasota half in march which I will sign up for so in total it will be 8 medals for 5 races.

I'm curious what everyone's race day plans are? Ive scheduled a 930 breakfast and grand floridian pedi, we were just going to hang out and relax until nap time but now I'm thinking we could hit up a park for a few hours or go to DTD. When we first planned the race things were different and I thought we should basically keep off our feet, but now I've been training so much that I think we will be fine. Just curious what everyone's race day plans are :)

Are you sure you want them filing off all of your calluses right before a race? (I think I would get blisters if I had a pedi that morning!)

Your plan is very similar to mine. We just added MNSSHP a couple weeks ago. We were originally going to HS on Friday but since we got the party tickets we'll spend most of the day at MK after we go to the expo (we have APs ). Go big or stay home!

Everyone has a lot of similar ideas! I like the idea of Dtd, the park gets me too worked up!! In a good way....As for the pedi, I don't really have any calluses and I've been getting pedis pretty regularly with no issues. I run two long runs a week between 7-8 miles. I will have my husband reconsider his though since he isn't as big a runner or pedi person :) thanks!!
We added Mnsshp on Friday as well, what time does it go to? I guess I should check? I didn't consider us being up too late, maybe I'll reconsider the early breakfast :)

I'm staying at Coronado springs. On Saturday what wd you recommend the best way to get to the race and when shd we leave our resort? Thanks!!!

The best way if Coronado is a host resort is the bus that will take you straight to Hollywood Studios. I would recommend getting one of the first buses which usually start at 8pm.

I think Coronado is not a host resort for this race. If you'll have a car you can park at Wide World of Sports and take a bus from there. Or you can take a taxi to there. The buses start at 7pm. According to the information on the Run Disney website, "Parking is free at ESPN Wide World of Sports for participants and spectators. All participants must board shuttles from ESPN Wide World of Sports to Disney's Hollywood Studios® no later than 8:00 p.m. in order to make it to their corrals by 9:15 p.m."

If you don't have a car and don't want to take a taxi, maybe take a bus to the Magic Kingdom and then go to a host resort (either the Polynesian or the Wilderness Lodge) and take the shuttle to the race start from there.
