Do mousekeeping only provide you with towel animals and cutesy stuff like that if you are staying with children? My boyfriend and I are going by ourselves and I would LOVE to come back to the hotel and have cute little stuff waiting for me. Has anyone recieved this when on a trip with no kids? If not, how do you think we could get them to suprise us with these things?

Thanks!!

yes they do those things no matter your age. my DH and I went to WDW for our honeymoon and they were always doing cute things for us.

because towel animals are a limited resource in that (1) a relatively small percentage of housekeepers can make them and (2) they have to be made when not cleaning rooms except for some that can be done 'on the fly,' i don't think you're necessarily penalized for not having children, but children may get some preference.

that said, i've heard good results from people who either leave notes asking for one or, probably more effectively, call housekeeping and ask. not exactly a surprise, but what can ya do?

Many times at CBR, there is a little towel animal waiting in the room upon check-in. That happened to us on our last trip & many other guests staying at CBR during our trip last May.

We travel w/ 2 small children and our family has never had a towel animal.:sad2:

This is by no means official.. but my suggestions for getting towel animals are as follows..

1) Leave mousekeeping a daily tip. It helps. :)

2) If just adults in the room.. bring one childs stuffed toy and leave it in the room. Deceptive? maybe .. but I've seen that work by accident. We bought stuffed animals for a friend's children and they were arranged on the bed when we came back to the room and there was a towel animal on a nearby table.

3) If all else fails.. leave a slightly larger mousekeeping tip along with a note requesting one. :D

i would personally not advocate that tips (regardless of what size) help. this might give a false sense of entitlement. tips are great, but have no bearing on the towel animals. case in point, the one time i did actually get one after spending over a week at POP was the one day i actually FORGOT to leave a tip (but fortunately I saw her when I came back midday and got to tip her in person.. i also thanked her for the towel animal and invited her back, but i never got another one)

again. very small percentage of housekeepers can make them. they make them on their own time. limited supply. it's luck, or you can call housekeeping and request it. at least that way, even if your housekeeper can't make them, s/he can get one from someone who can.

We stayed at the CBR last June (going back on 5/31/07) and we had a little towel animal waiting on the nightstand for us upon our arrival. We received three more during our 10 day stay. Our daughter flew in 2 days after we drove in and, on the day she was to arrive, we left a note for our mousekeeper asking that she please leave a towel animal for our daughter. When we went back to our room with our daughter, there was a very pretty bunny waiting on her. We tipped left mousekeeper a note daily. Have a great trip, Lisa

We've been to Disney 5 times in 3 years, 2 adults....no towel animals :sad2:
Tips haven't helped. Law of averages says we're due....maybe next trip!

I stayed at POFQ by myself for a couple of days in Dec; before my sisters joined me and we stayed at the Wilderness Lodge. I received a "towel bow" on my bed and a Christmas towel mouse (maybe they did this as they could see from other things in my room it was my birthday)? When we checked into the WL the towel Mickey was already on the bed; so I wouldn't say tipping makes a difference. You just never know! Enjoy your first trip ever ~ it is a magical place.

on our honeymoon I left a note on my mousekeeping envelopes I decorated that said "we love towel animals!" and we got tons! (at the GF)

Hi, I left a nice note for mousekeeping with there tip and they surprised me twice on my trip with mouse animals. Hope this helps.

DH and I stayed at ASMu during our honeymoon stay and not once did they do the towel animals. But that's okay with us.

and I'd like to propose that all mousekeepers should have to know how to make a towel animal. Not a whole barnyard mind you, but at least something in the rodent family. I'm a nurse and I need to know CPR...they're mousekeeping, they need to know towel animals...same thing.;)

Our first trip with ds was to the BC, no towel animals :( Last trip about 2 years ago @ the WL we got them several times!!! My mom went with us but had her own room and she also got them. We had an awesome mousekeeper :)

LMAO I kinda have to agree with you on this one. :lmao:
Thanks for the info as usual Brad :thumbsup2 I will ask about it when I call to request turndown service at AKL. May work it into my envelopes for turn down and mousekeeping like heatherlynn444 suggested as well. Figure it cannot hurt to cover all your bases to get a little extra dust. :goodvibes

Well its seems about half and half, but maybe with a nice note added to our tip, we'll get an animal or two. I would really just love for my boyfriend to be suprised by how personal even housekeeping in a hotel can be!

Thanks for all of your input!

We didn't get them everyday when we stayed at POR, but part of the fun was the surprise we would get if they did make an animal.

I bought a Mickey when we were there, and they almost always "staged" him while we were gone.

It was just my DH and me when we stayed at the Swan in May and we got a towel animal!
