It's pretty inexpensive, and with the concerns about large crowds coming up, I'm thinking maybe I should pay for it and print out a few touring plans, just in case.

Any thoughts?

I'm a big advocate of planning, so I would advise you use some tool to help you out. Beware of getting overwhelmed by using too much information. Either get the UOG (which has generic touring plans that could be good enough for you) or subscribe to TourGuideMike (our personal favorite) or get a Passporter (have read a lot of good things about that here). Before you buy, head out to a bookstore and look at the UOG (they are the same group that does touringplans.com) and the passporter. You can also check your local library for the UOG if you want to take a longer look. I'm not sure how much you can preview TGM, so you'd just have to take the word of others that it is useful. If you absolutely need a customized touring plan, I'm guessing touringplans.com is probably your best bet.
