Touring the Tower of Terror and other Ghoulish Delights! Sept 13 TR | FINALx2 4/17!!!

I just love your photos leaving your resort that morning, foggy lens or not those pictures are gorgeous, especially with the blue sky. :)

So happy that your Magic Bands worked and got you into the parks and again on TSM! One of these times you will magically beat Matt. :goodvibes I have no idea what I am doing I just rapidly fire at everything and hope for the best but my 6 year old crushed me last time. :)

I saw One Man's Dream back in 2006 but missed it in 2011 because my 2 year old was terrified of any rides/shows that started out dark (which was more than you could imagine) but I really loved the movie when I saw it that first time and I did manage to drag him into the museum area so I could look at all the neat stuff again, even if I had to stay with him while everyone else watched the movie.

Great pictures of the 2 of you in front of TOT. :)

Aw thank you! It was driving me insane though every time I left a building with AC, no pictures! Wompwomp.

I was, too! It was such a difference from the day before! And yeah, one day... thoough I MIGHT have beat him in Disneyland, though I'm convinced he might have gone easy on me, haha.

I'm excited to check out the video at some point! I've heard great things about it.. Next trip I'm sure!

That picture of you and Matt on Buzz is totally priceless!
I agree that the Winnie the Pooh ride is adorable. And I almost prefer to wait in line so I can play with everything!

I can totally relate to your sentiment of "why didn't I use my nice camera?" I eventually get so tired of having it wrapped around me and in the way and sometimes my Iphone just takes photos faster! I always end up regretting it later but in the moment it seems to make much more sense, right?

I'm so glad you went into One Man's Dream. I totally cried! Maybe I was just so happy to be in AC, but it really is such a sweet and wonderful exhibit! Totally inspiring!

Hahaha thanks, it made me laugh. Winnie the Pooh is so cute in every way! I agree, the queue is awesome!

Yeah, there were just a few times where I regretted not bringing my camera along! The biggest dumb mistake this trip was using the wrong lens. NEVER AGAIN! When we went to Disneyland I had the two best lenses to use and it worked out well.

I loved it in there, learning all about Walt is just awesome. Seeing where it all started. But I agree, it's also a nice break from the heat, too! Hahaha.

Fell a little behind, but I'm all caught up now!

That Vinymation trading event looks like a lot of fun. I had no idea that it was so big. I had read somewhere that they were fazing out the trading boxes in the parks. I just assumed that it wasnt that popular. Guess I was wrong :)

You arent kidding that the Haunted Mansion ones are hard to find. I had to go on a wild goose chase for them back in October of 2012. I went to the Vinylmation store in Downtown Disney, nothing. Then went to the Poly because I thought I saw them earlier in the week, nothing. Magic Kingdom, nothing. Went back to our resort and thought I would just check the store and they had them! I was so excited! But, yeah, hard to find lol.

Cape May looks good. I havent been there. I havent really made an effort to go considering I live in New England and can have a clam bake any time. I will have to check it out though!

Geez. Im really sorry you had such a bad experience with the Magicbands. That really stinks. But its good to see that you finally got them working.

The Boardwalk/Beach/Yacht area looks so beautiful. I still have yet to get over there! I know! I'm terrible. Everytime I plan for us to go there, something happens and we have to change our plans. But now my husband and I are DVC members, so our next stay will definetly be in the Beach Club Villas :thumbsup2

It's okay! I'm not going anywhere too quickly, so you're fine, haha. :)

The trading event was really fun! Exhausting but fun... And yes, they took away a lot of trade boxes, but I think things will get better as time goes on with the quality of what's in there. But Vinylmation is still going strong!

And yes, they are SO hard to find, you get it! Haha. That's awesome you found them! I was lucky to have a friend who got them for me. I hope the next release isn't as hard to find!

Cape May is great, but I agree. We have a huge seafood buffet here in Seattle so that's part of why we're probably not doing it next trip. But it's tasty!

It's okay, it was annoying but we survived, and they took care of us, so all was okay again, haha.

Oh my gosh, you have to go over there! Seriously, you will love it. It's an amazing area to stay at and just to check out in general.

EEEEE, this is what concerns me about September Weather and ALL THAT HUMIDITY!! But I just may have to deal with it this year because I need some Boo To You.

Haha, the good news is apparently the boats hated everyone on Villains night. And the buses... and the helicopters... and the hot air balloons...

OK, I see the photo of the hat, but there seems to be something missing... like the look of aggravation and disdain from "someone". (EDIT, ok you explain that later).

Hmmm interesting fact about the FP+ sounds. I'll have to take your word for it since mine never worked, lol.

OK, so Matt beat you, but more importantly, did he tell you to "EAT IT!!!"

Um... So am I to understand this was your first time inside One Man's Dream? OK, I'll let it go this one time since you have seen it now. But isn't it AMAZING?????? And I have to confess that I only just watched the movie, so I can't give you too much of a hard time. But YOU NEED TO SEE THE MOVIE!!!

Okay, let me just say.. I HATE hot weather and humidity. HATE it, and it was hot and humid in September... but we survived! There were a few days where the sun really bothered us, but otherwise it was okay. I mean, October is probably better in terms of the heat if you want to avoid it!

Yeah, I think all forms of transportation hated everyone that night, it was terrible!

Hahaha, yeah, don't worry, we covered that of course.

Yeah, they totally make sounds when you check in with your FP+. It's kind of awesome, but hard to hear unless it's kind of quiet.

He didn't, because he's so used to beating me, it's kind of ridiculous.

Yes it was! I know, shocking, but yeah, we are planning to see the movie at some point for sure!

YAY for working Magic Bands! I hadn't heard about the sounds that ding on each ride! That sounds so cool!

Wow I missed out on noticing Speak and Spell or going into One Man's Dream during my last drip, I definitely have to explore DHS more next time.

When is your next trip to Disneyland? We should have a Dismeet while you're here!

Yeah, it was pretty awesome!

Definitely take a look! I swear I find new things to look at every time we go to Disney World. It's one of the many reasons I love it there.

I think we're looking at April! It'll be really awesome to go when there are no decorations up. I mean, I LOVE Christmas in Disneyland, but I'm excited to see good ol' Disneyland, if that makes sense!

So glad they finally got your MBs up and working right!!
Great photos!
I am seriously ALWAYS a Beaver in TSM! I think only once in all my attempts have I gotten to that cat. What is up with that?! I know there is a youtube video out there that goes through all the tricks and shows you how to score points. I've even studied up on it before riding. But you really need to be a crack shot (and it helps when your partner knows what to shoot at as well and you work as a team).

Loved One Man's Dream!!! Everything in there is so interesting to read.

I know, we were so happy to have them working!

Hahahaha, I feel like I'm either a beaver or cat, wompwomp. I should watch the video before our next trip! Then maybe I'll finally beat him!

I agree, it's such an awesome exhibit!

That Walt exhibit looks so cool! I hope they bring something similar to DLR soon. Loving the updates. You're single handedly making the 2 week countdown until we go to Disneyland go a little quicker :thumbsup2

It IS cool! I am surprised they don't have one in Disneyland, honestly. And I'm so happy my updates are helping your countdown! I hope you have an amazing trip. :goodvibes

Welp, just made it through the entire trip report in the past two days as I hadn't really been on the boards much since our November trip (I always feel like I drift away after a trip, like my subconscious is protesting that it's over) and I'm glad I'm all caught up.

We pretty much had the same MB issues during our trip and it was always attributed to having APs and the bands not being ready for APs yet. We didn't have a full day where they worked and probably lost about 4-5 hours over the course of the week at guest services. We did get a bunch of anytime/anywhere FPs to make up for it, which was nice. I'm hoping by the time we get there in March they've ironed out the AP/MagicBand issue.

Looks like you're having a great trip so far, even in the September heat...that's a pretty brave choice in my eyes. We went in August once and it was like the seventh circle of hell some days.

That Vinylmation event looks pretty cool, I'm actually surprised that Joe (DH and Joben here on the DIS) hasn't gotten into it, it kind of seems up his alley. It also looks like something that could get pretty addictive really quickly.

If I remember, I'll have to post a pic sometime of some of my Christmas presents that Joe got me this year, you'd probably really enjoy them. One was a Madame Leota cameo necklace and the other was an Epcot charm bracelet where each of the charms are the old school Future World pavilion discs; they're both pretty fantabulous. I love them both because they are so Disney but can totally pass for just some cool jewelry if I wear them to work and such.

I'm glad you finally made it to One Man's Dream. When you do get to see the movie, you'll really like it. We had a family trip to Kansas City last summer and we detoured on the way home to go to Marceline, MO, which is where Walt lived as a child. They have a museum dedicated to his life there and it was just amazing as the tour was given by a woman who actually knew him both as a child and an adult...it was such an inspiration. Not sure why you'd ever find yourself in the middle of North-central Missouri, but if you do it's a must see!

Looking forward to more awesome updates!

Oh my gosh, I know EXACTLY what you mean! I've been kind of going through my own little PDD and haven't really wanted to be on the DIS as much... well that and I've just been so freakin' busy with the holidays and work! Seriously, it was kind of bonkers. But now I'm feeling good about things, so that's good, haha... Helps to have trips planned!

Ugh, that is really terrible! I'm hoping they're completely sorted out by the time we're back, as well. I just don't even know how to feel about the MagicBands in general. I'm hoping it doesn't make lines ten times worse without the normal FP machines.

We had a great time. The weather was somewhat brutal, but we adjusted to it pretty easily after a few days. You just had to avoid AK and World Showcase during the afternoons, that's for sure. I think September wasn't as brutal as August, I would never go in July or August, ack! It was humid but at least it wasn't in the upper 90s every day!

It is very addictive and fun, and the event was a great time!

That sounds awesome! I have seen that bracelet and it looks fabulous! The best Disney stuff is the not too in your face type of stuff.

That is really awesome that you got to go to Walt's childhood hometown, seriously! I'm not sure we'll ever be in Missouri, but if we are, we'll be heading there for sure! :thumbsup2

Yay!! Updates from Dani! Woohoo!!! Seriously, these make my day, which some might consider sad, but let's not think about that too much..:confused3

The Beach club looks so gorgeous, definitely on my possible list for our anniversary trip next Sept! Such a bummer about those magic bands, I would've been in tears but I'm not sure I would've been coherent enough to speak my mind. I'm glad they gave you a credit to ease the frustration and I sure hope they get these figured out soon.

Nice score Matt, that's insane?!

I've never done One Mans Dream either and will definitely try to fit in in next time, especially since we will not have the kids with us. I wanted to last time but chickened out of trying to drag everyone in there!

Good to hear from you again and I'm glad you had a restful Christmas. I may want to pick your brain about DVC retail sometime. Unfortunately since we are a family of 6, my room options even with DVC are just so slim it's frustrating. Why did I have so many kids?!?! Just kidding of course.....mostly.;)

Haha that comment just made my day! And it's not sad, at least in my opinion!

Beach Club is the best! I freakin' love it. And yeah, that whole MB thing was lame-o, but it worked out in the end. Just so frustrating at that moment though!

One Man's Dream is a total must-do! And a great way to get out of the heat, haha.

We had a great Christmas! And yes, pick my brain any time you'd like! I love chatting about DVC, haha. :goodvibes

HI Dani! I am back after taking a long break from the DIS. The holidays caught up with me too! No Disney time.

Thanks for your explanation of the Haunted Mansion vinyls. I never knew about that series because I started collecting after. They all looked the same to me so I could never figure it out! Haha. I love your displays. I just bought 5 of the three tiered boxes from the container store. I love them!

I feel so bad about your problems with the magic band. We had the same exact thing happen to us in december at the boardwalk. Our magic bands and keys wouldn't let us into our room at all and we walked all the way for them not to work after the park and then had to walk all the way back from the long hallway. I was po'ed too!! I should have said something but I never did.

I agree with you about Cape May, it is expensive. We used TIW this trip but it is like 42.99 or something. It is one of the most expensive buffets. Luckily Corey eats 42 lbs of crab legs so we get our moneys worth! haha!

Loved reading your updates and am excited to read more!

I hear you on that! I'm glad you're back though!!

And thanks! I love those Container Store boxes! But now that I'm clearing out a ton of Vinylmation, I have all sorts of cases left over, haha. I have to figure out what to do with them!

Oh my gosh, I'm sorry the same thing happened to you! That is NOT fun at all! So annoying.

Yeah, it's just super pricey! Matt loves crab legs, too, so it makes it worth it, hahaha. Glad you're back on the DIS!!

Yay for updates for me to catch up on!! Lol!! Yay for everything working so far this morning! Including speak & spell! It was up and running in Oct the first time I saw it, it was great!

Glad you guys got to check out one man’s dream! I love it in there, and always make a point of taking ppl in there, especially if it’s their first trip! Yay for vinyl trades! I brought mine with me this trip but didn’t trade them at all, I guess it’s more exciting to me when there’s someone else around too bahaha!

Haha yep! It was a good morning for us!

One Man's Dream is pretty fabulous, and I'm glad we finally took the time out to go see it. I didn't do much trading during my Disneyland trip, either, but I'm going to try to during our next trips!

I can't even beat DH on TSM when he has Paxton on his lap!! :rotfl:

I love every second of One Man's Dream. It's so inspirational to walk through there and think about what a legacy Walt left behind in so many different mediums.

HAHAHA that's hilarious. And I so agree, Walt was just an impressive man and so darn inspirational.

Oh my goodness I'm finally caught up!!

I have no idea what I wanted to remark on though except for your sore feet!!

What kind of tennies are you wearing? I found that crocs didn't work for me after awhile (and I had to look ridiculous and wear them with socks or they would hurt)

The only shoes I've found to be able to walk all day in without issue is my Asics. I usually switch between those and Teva Flip-Flops but even the Teva's can cause me some issues...

Oh yeah.. and I am so happy to hear your Magic Bands finally started to work! They are fabulous when they work!

YAY! Glad to see your name pop up in my TR!!

Yeah, my feet were sad, hahaha. I was wearing Reeboks, but honestly, it's hard to me to find a pair of sneakers that don't make my Plantar Fasciitis flair up. Those Croc flip flops are the one thing that kept my feet happy.. except they'd give me some blisters after a little bit. I might look into getting a new pair of New Balances with a wide width. My current ones KILL my stupid sesimoiditis in my left foot. My feet are a hot mess from all the sports injuries in high school!

And yeah, we loved the MBs once they worked!!

Oh my gosh.. what have I been missing!! I told you on my TR that I'd read enough to know a few details but now that I've read more I'm obsessed. I need to camp out overnight and get caught up.

I know you've probably answered this many times but what type of camera do you use? Your photos are so awesome.

I'm booked for the first time at VWL in May so I'm particularly interested in your villa experience. Being DVC - ahhh I'm sure that is pretty darn exciting.

I'm officially subscribed! :)

Eeeee I'm so excited to have you here!! :goodvibes Seriously!

And I used a Nikon D5100! It's a fantastic camera, especially because I can take video with it, too! My favorite lens to shoot with is my Nikon 35mm f/1.8.

I think you will really enjoy VWL! It's such a cozy resort and is VERY Pacific Northwest-like. And yeah, we are so excited to officially be DVC members finally, yay!

Again, SO HAPPY to have you here! :goodvibes

Hi I am subbing in...late but here none-the-less. I just finished your previous TR and it had me laughing so hard, my husband thought I was crazy. You are a very entertaining writer. I am slowly catching up with TR and again it is very entertaining. Thanks for the great read :thumbsup2

It's never too late, I say! Haha, I'm so glad my TR made you laugh so hard. And thank you for the wonderful compliments!! :goodvibes Hope you enjoy this TR, too!

I'm glad this day was better for your MB's! AND that your FP+ weren't lost!

Oh how I love One Man's Dream!!! It is now one of our favorite things to walk through... We don't always stay for the movie, just depends on our schedule. But I can't tell you how many times I walked by and never thought twice about going in. I had no idea the true treasures inside!

Your breakfast from Starrjng Rolls looks delish... Now I could go for something sweet....

ME TOO! It was a victory, I say!

One Man's Dream is awesome. It's a totally hidden gem!

Starring Rolls was really tasty! I was kind of hoping for something not sweet, but those ended up being really tasty!

Ok Dani, I've read through most of your TR and have a ton of comments, if I can remember them all!

Some things I found we have in common, serious love of Mickey waffles :lovestruc, adore the Tangled restroom area (and I have a lot of photos INSIDE the restroom with all the details), HM (and Matt even has a that cool tattoo!), Peoplemover, and declaring that the MK should have a walk through attraction in the castle like DL!

I see that you are a Starbucks lover as well!

Your trip video was AWESOME! (Loved the Halloween costume.) Loved Matt's comment about discovering you are not a Beverly fan! Going for the second sip huh to make sure you really don't like it! :rotfl2:

The awesomeness of your HM Dooney bag is not lost on me… I'm definitely Jealous!

Wow! Getting to DHS for the Villains event.. Goodness. MORE BOATS Disney!
How awesome about the Ambassador led DHS ToT tour …. Now I must await the 19th!

You are ever so popular with the Dis meets! :) You just keep running into Disers everywhere!

I like the Wishes Dessert Party not so much for the desserts since there were few that I actually liked but it is a great vantage point.

Goodness, you were hit on by the taxi stand dude at WL! Wow! That's taking the guest experience to a whole new level. :lmao:

You are right, there's a "smell" to BC resort (and BLT) I just love it! I completely get coming back to the same resort time and time again since you can't stay away. We've stayed at BLT every trip since 2010 at least in part or whole. No judging you for that from me.

Oh my sorry about the MB/room key issue! How frustrating. (And needing to pee doesn't help the issue.) At least they tried to make it right with a room credit.

Ahhh One Man's Dream such a wonderful journey into the genius behind all that Walt envisioned. I love every detail about that place.

There were a lot more things I'm sure I forgot to comment about but now I'm caught up! :)

Your long exposure photo of the MSEP was so very cool! Loved that.

YAY! I'm so happy you're caught up!

Ummmm, yup, we sure do have lots in common! How awesome would it be if there was a castle walk-through, right?! Sleeping Beauty's walkthrough is one of my favorite things in Disneyland!

Oh, and we're both Tangled restroom creepers, yup! I felt so funny taking photos inside that bathroom, hahhaa.

Being from Seattle, we are huge fans of Starbucks! We have to have our coffee, especially Matt.

Thank you! And yeah have no idea why I kept drinking it, hahahahaha.

I'm not a big purse fan, but that bag was just too beautiful not to buy! It's still my favorite.

That Villains event was such a hot mess! And yeah, I couldn't believe I'd won! I never win things... but the tour was one of the coolest things I've ever done in Disney! I am DYING to get to that day in my TR.. I'm sure like you were dying to get to your tour of the Dream Suite!! EEP!

Haha I could say the same about you! So funny. But yeah, we were running into so many people during this trip!

I agree about the Dessert Party! But I think we're going to change it up during our next trip and do something different for watching Wishes.

OH MY GOSH, that taxi guy was just... yeah. But as soon as you said that, I thought about the Mayor being all up in your business, hahahaha. That seriously cracked me up, but you were a pro at avoiding him kissing you on the lips! :rotfl:

Hey, we both love resorts with the same smell, so THAT has to count for something, right?! I love having a resort that just feels like "home". :goodvibes

Oh man, yeah, I just really had to go to the bathroom more than anything else. And I was pooped... and just done. But the room credit helped, and the fact that our bands finally worked the next day, too!

One Man's Dream is amazing, I love it. :goodvibes

Oh, and thank you! I was lucky to be able to take it with such a small amount of people around! YEAH FOR 11 O'CLOCK PARADES! Haha.

yay! more updates! my DH loves that walt exhibit too, but I don't remember ever going through it with him. it looks pretty interesting though. it's a good thing we didn't go through it this time--he might have been breaking into the case to get wall-e too! he loves wall-e--I even used it as his avatar on our mydisneyexperience page! :thumbsup2 and it always makes me want to watch hello, dolly!

I didn't realize all the attractions made a sound when you scanned your magic band. I only heard the chime-y bell sound at MK when we came in. well, now i'm going to have to go back so I can listen! :lmao: (like I needed an excuse!)

Of course, updates galoooore! One Man's Dream is awesome though. And I used WALL-E as my avator on MDE, too! Hahaha, we're twins. It's so good.

Yeah, I swear they make a noise. Perhaps I'm the only person who noticed this? Or maaaaybe I just made it all up, hahaha. Who knows. But that's a good reason to go back, clearly. :thumbsup2

So I just thought of something. Did you physically check out of Wilderness Lodge? That was our problem or so they said. We just left ARt of Animation and didn't physically check out bc we had no room charges. Therefore we had lots of problems with our split stays. Just wondering if that may have been the cause for your problems.

Chapter 29: We visit our NEW home resort, YAY!
Day Six: September 16th, 2013

We continued on over to Rock 'n Rollercoaster because we had our FastPass+ reservations all ready to go!

file_zps7c1b3cd4.jpg

Time for me to admit something: In that photo above, that is the first time that I noticed the guitar strings/neck continue on overhead... to form a rollercoaster. HAHAHAHA I have NO clue how I've never noticed that before! And actually, it always has bugged me at the guitar neck bent, but I just never realized WHY. I am a huge unobservant dork here, clearly.

ANYWAY, we got on RnRC, and had to waaaait. The FP line is kind of pointless in this line. I'm not sure why they didn't design it so you could at LEAST skip the whole scene with Aerosmith and all that.

I get it, they're hooking us up with a stretch limo, now let me move on to said stretch limo. K THANKS.

file_zpse357a224.jpg

Matt and I went with a REALLY bored face for this trip on RnRC. I think what I love most about this photo is the complete contrast of our faces to the guy and his son in front of us, hahahaha.

file_zpsb3cdd86e.jpg

After I got our photo put on our PP+ card, I turned to Matt and started laughing really hard because his hair was OUT OF CONTROL, hahahah. I made him stop so I could take a photo of it before he fixed it.

file_zpsa302816b.jpg

At this point, we needed to head out of the park to go catch a bus to one of my favorite resorts. Also, it'd been a LONG time since we'd taken a bus at Hollywood Studios!

file_zps7c81c63d.jpg

We had to wait for a few minutes, and a bus showed up. The driver told us she would be switching with another driver, so it might take a few minutes, and even then, she wasn't sure the bus would continue on to where we were headed, but we were welcome to get on the bus. We hopped on since there was AC and we figured worst case scenario, we'd just get off and catch another bus. We weren't in a huge rush, so no big deal.

So we sat on the bus, and this bus driver, while waiting for her replacement, decides she wants to tell us her life story, NO JOKE.

I was looking at my phone, so poor Matt got wrangled into a conversation with her. She told us how it was her birthday, but she wasn't celebrating, and that her ex called her to wish her a happy birthday for the first time in 10 years, and how she works as a bus driver for Disney but also runs an animal sanctuary... which she proceeded to hand Matt a pamphlet about. Needless to say, it was a wee-bit awkward and just weird. Let's just say that she was an over-sharer.

Thankfully, the new bus driver showed up a few minutes later and he was heading to the resort we were headed to, so off we went to...

OLD KEY WEST!

AKA OUR NEW DISNEY VACATION CLUB HOME RESORT!!!

I was SO happy we were here again. We hadn't made it back in January during our previous trip, and with us now being Disney Vacation Club owners there, we really wanted to stop by this time.

file_zpsdb545995.jpg

file_zpsb9a30aaa.jpg

Let me just state how much I LOVE Old Key West. I love the totally laid back vibe of the resort, I love their music choices there (I always hear "I Can See Clearly Now The Rain is Gone" EVERY time we are there, along with "One Love" by Bob Marley), and I love how it just REALLY seems like a vacation kind of resort.

It's nice when you really do adore the resort that is your "home" for DVC. If there is ever a trip where we can't stay at Beach Club for some reason, or we just have to stay at OKW, I'll be so happy to stay there again!

file_zps5ca4967a.jpg

file_zps34a7401c.jpg

file_zpsebd6b623.jpg

We decided to go look in the store to see if they had any DVC stuff for sale, but unfortunately it was the same stuff we'd seen every where else. I was totally sad about the lack of DVC merchandise this trip! We only left the store with an OKW magnet, then headed back over towards the dock area to wait for the boat and take more photos.

file_zpsa4f435fb.jpg

file_zps1bb52613.jpg

Lucky for us, a boat showed up soon after, the Southern Breeze.

file_zpsf9d510c5.jpg

We hopped on and there were a couple of guys sitting in front of us, but otherwise it was a pretty empty boat!

file_zps71cb54a0.jpg

file_zpsda6c4278.jpg

I LOVE the boat ride from Old Key West to Downtown Disney. It's my favorite way to get to Downtown Disney... but I'm also just obsessed with Disney boats in general, so this really is no surprise.

file_zpsa08a2a3c.jpg

file_zps1b5b2d6c.jpg

We arrived in Downtown Disney pretty quickly, and the Characters in Flight balloon was up!

file_zps2d40cdae.jpg

file_zpsa4436810.jpg

file_zpsb002fca2.jpg

It had been so long since we'd ridden the boat, I was surprised to see that they now drop you off over near the West Side vs. the old spot by the Paradiso 37. But I was actually okay with this because we needed to make a stop on the West Side anyway.

Next, we catch lunch with some friends at one of my absolute favorite restaurants in all of Disney World and enjoy an afternoon in Downtown Disney.

Continued in next post

So I just thought of something. Did you physically check out of Wilderness Lodge? That was our problem or so they said. We just left ARt of Animation and didn't physically check out bc we had no room charges. Therefore we had lots of problems with our split stays. Just wondering if that may have been the cause for your problems.

That's really strange!! I've never checked out of a Disney Resort and have never had any problem. Was it a MB issue you had?

Okay! How in the world did you keep that face at the start of RnRC! No matter how hard I try I scream when it starts.. On the other hand I have no issues with California Screamin's start in DL.

I only went to OKW to try Olivia's so didn't see much of the resort but it does seem to have a calm feeling.

We also love the Disney boats!! It is one of the reasons we love WL!

Hi! :wave2: I've been lurking this TR since you started it but now I have to comment because of these three words:

Old Key West

It's been my family's home resort since 1994 and I love when I hear other people talk about how much they like it there.

I love your whole TR, especially your gift for encountering strange CM's :rotfl:

Just finished catching up on all your updates! I loved reading about the Vinylmation trading event. Even though we aren't hardcore traders and collectors, it was so interesting getting all the inside scoop. I also sent it to my hubs so that he could read it too.

It's funny because I don't know much about what's valuable or not other than chasers and variants. I just like what I like! Hubs was looking stuff up the other day and while I was washing the dishes, he was like, "Do we still have the caramel apple?" and I said yes, because I thought it was cute and didn't want it to be traded. He was telling me that the green one is worth a lot of money, and I was like, "We have the red one. Danielle (my cousin) has the green one." When we went to Disney with them, her boyfriend at the time bought it as a surprise for her and she opened it up to get the sour caramel apple! We told her it was valuable, and she was like, "Yeah, I was going to sell it for money" and we were like, NO NO NO, don't sell it!!! Now we're nervous that she's going to sell it because we'd totally want it ... just not for $200!

I saw you were responding to updates last night so I had a feeling there may be an update this morning.... :)

Wow about the bus driver, just wow. On a bus from DL to Orange County last year, we had a bus driver do a running monologue the entire drive! He went on and on about how he was too poor to go to DL when he was a kid so he would make up rides in his back yard like sticking the slide in the kiddy pool and calling it Splash Mountain. I couldn't believe he kept it up for 30 minutes! It was odd but hysterical, clearly this man had missed his calling!

Coming up- some Irish fare with the Dis's best photographed family perhaps?

Aww Dani, you're not an unobservant dork. I'm forever noticing new details all the time, every trip.

I'm with you. I can handle the pre-shows once per trip. After that, just get me to the ride. Except the stretching room. I wouldn't want to skip that.

Random Photo!! :woohoo:

WOW, what a strange bus encounter. Also funny is they weren't sure the bus would be going where you were headed... but go ahead and get on if you want. :confused3

I'm finally starting to cover off visiting all the Disney resorts, but I haven't made it to OKW yet. It sure is purdy. It really does look like a place where you could really spend a lot of vacation time just relaxing.

*whew* just got caught up after being MIA for a few months...

Still majorly enjoying your trip report...

I have to say, I am seriously starting to consider collecting vinylmations and I blame you.

I am even more antsy for my upcoming trip...and cannot wait for your next installment!

How can such Disney fans as yourselves, never been inside One Man's Dream?! So glad you went in and be prepared for tears when you watch the film next time!

Still haven't been to OKW but your photos of it are fabulous!

Chapter 29: We visit our NEW home resort, YAY!
Day Six: September 16th, 2013

Time for me to admit something: In that photo above, that is the first time that I noticed the guitar strings/neck continue on overhead... to form a rollercoaster. HAHAHAHA I have NO clue how I've never noticed that before! And actually, it always has bugged me at the guitar neck bent, but I just never realized WHY. I am a huge unobservant dork here, clearly.

I have to chuckle at this because this is exactly the kind of things that happen to me. I have been to Disney world several times throughout my childhood and now with my own children. And it wasn't until reading something here on the Disboards that I realized what WEDway peoplemover was for Walter E Disney. Even my mother shook her head on that one...:rotfl:

Hi Dani: Just wanted to check in and remind you of how awesome your trip reports are. My DW and I got back from our trip in the middle of November and a weird thing happened to me...I wanted nothing to do with the dis boards, or really even think about Disney. We had a great trip and still love Disney, I just had this weird withdrawal thingy where I really didn't care to check in on any of the things on the board that I obsessed about for weeks before the trip.

My DW says that a lot of people go through this, but I think it is really weird and bizarre.

Regardless, that is why I haven't been commenting on your report (and I know it seriously bothered you that Joben was not making comments on your TR)

I did just start getting the bug again a couple of weeks ago but only to read yours and Fantasylandmom's TR's and my favorite rumors & news.

with your latest update I felt compelled to respond because you mentioned OKW and that got my Disney High beams going... :cool1:

so now I have 46 days till my next trip to the world and I am super pumped again(me thinks my work productivity will be going down)

OKW is the place that made me really fall in love with WDW. Ft wilderness is where I went while I was a kid, but you can't go back to your childhood.

Soon we hope to be DVC members there too. I remember when my DW first proposed to renting points at OKW, I read a bunch of reviews about the place on the boards and people seemed turned off by it because it wasn't Disney themed enough, and some people stated that it was the place for old people to go. I'm right with you on the things to love about OKW. Funny thing though, I absolutely hate Jimmy Buffet, (like when I hear his music I start absentmindedly grinding my teeth) but in OKW...no problem.

Okay enough about that...well let me just state the gurgling suitcase is awesome too...and the homefries at Olivias!!!

Once again great update on your report, thanks for filling my Disney well up again :thumbsup2

That's really strange!! I've never checked out of a Disney Resort and have never had any problem. Was it a MB issue you had?

Have you done a split stay with the magic bands yet? It was a magic band only issue but it messed up the regular cards too. At Boardwalk and Yacht Club they couldn't assign us room keys and our magic bands wouldn't work until they physically checked us out of the hotel

I really enjoy that you made Matt stop to have his picture taken with the crazy hair.

OMG SHE HANDED MATT A PAMPHLET. I'm pretty sure she could get fired for that but that's hilarious.

I love OKW! You are so lucky it's your home resort! That is awesome. I love that boat ride as well. The first time I took it I was like OH MY GOD THIS IS SO COOL. It's so fun to approach DTD from there as opposed to the parking lot.

I am so totally un-observent. I miss stuff all the time. My DH said a neon green elephant could walk past me and I would miss it. :) So I am right there with you on noticing new things each time we go.

Awesome bored face ride photo. I love that your faces are the exact opposite of the people in front of you.

I wish we could by-pass the pre-show. Okay, yes I have seen it, many, many times, can we move on now.

Beautiful pictures of OKW. I have never been there but it really does look like it would be a great place to stay.

I love your roller coaster face!!! Awesome! It takes work to have that much self control I'm sure.

Awesome photos of OKW. The clouds and blue skies definitely lend a note to the song, I Can See Clearly Now.... :)

Yep, I agree, Disney boats to anywhere are always fun. :thumbsup2

Ahh Beach Club in the morning!

I can never win on Toy Story Mania either, no matter how hard I try! ONE DAY WE WILL BOTH WIN! I've never seen the Speak and Spell work either... that's pretty neat!

Starring Rolls is always a good choice. Those pastries look delicious!

The bored faces on RnRC are awesome! Hahaha!

OMG OLD KEY WEST!!!! :cloud9::love: We stayed here in June 2011 and I fell in love with everything about this resort. If you ever need to rent out points, please let me know! :rolleyes1
