Today as i was reading his website a popup comes up that says
This website wants to run the following add-on: 'Microsoft Data Access - Remote Data Services Dat.

If you don't click it or do click the page freezes and I have to restart the computer. Searching around the internet i found a few discussions that says some websites might have this problem

Has anyone seen that pop up while on TourGuideMIke?

I'm not getting any virus from his site...i'm thinking his site has a virus.

...but his best days/worst days are a bargain for only 18.95. Who cares about a virus compare to standing in long lines!:rotfl2:

Nope. Don't think a virus would be connected to his website anyway - you're not downloading anything to your computer while you're on it - so how would you get a virus - there's no pop up ads or anything on his site, even.

ETA - to correct my post, once I more fully read your post (I do that sometimes - don't read!). But I have never seen any pop-up type thing on TGM's site. Lots of other sites that say you need ActiveX controls and all that kind of stuff, but never on TGM.

I agree..I've never seen any pop ups from him either. But everytime i log in and try to navigate to other pages that pop up comes up.

On those links i provided some people report the pop up on other websites that they usually don't see any.

The pop is not coming up for me on any other webpage that i've been pulling up today.

Mike - try posting your question on the TGM forums - Technical Support and see if any other Windows users have been seeing that. I forgot - I've been using my Mac more often lately, so that would explain it for me (we have multiple machines of both flavors!).

I just came from TGM and my virus protection software identified and destroyed the Trojan virus from his site.

Yikes! I am extremely computer illiterate. How will I know if I get this virus? What will it do to my computer? How do I get rid of it or keep from getting it?

I've been in and out of TGM all day and I haven't gotten anything. Wonder what the variable is.

I dont see the pop up at the login page or on forums page but when i have tried to read a restaurant review or go to least crowded days it pops up.

I was over there this am and got a pop up that said to download a language bundle. My anti-virus said that they prevented a virus.

I was coming here to see, if anyone else was having this problem. I've had the same freezing problem, even though I selected ignore. The pop-up was for supposedly for Chinese translation. My pop-up blocker blocked a 2nd pop-up attempt. It only happens on that site. I'm currently running my Anti-Virus. I hope it catches it. If anyone gets more info, please let us know.

Y'all got me scared. I think I'm gonna avoid TGM for a day or two. I don't need to access his site right now anyway. I HATE it when my computer does wacky things. Most times, I can figure it out and correct it. But there have been times in the past....

Update: I ran my AVG Anti-Virus. It found 2 viruses. They weren't there, when I scanned my computer 2 days ago. For anyone who has used the site today, I'd run an Anti-Virus scan just in case.

It appears that it's the "nihaorr1.com" virus which has been hitting many web sites for about the last month. It's an "SQL Injection" virus from China that attacks web site databases. While it's unlikely that your PC is infected, you should definitely run a virus scan if you've visited TGM recently.

His website has a notice up that says it was hit by a virus and tells everyone not to log in.

It says once the notice is no longer displayed, it will be safe to access.

Too late for me. :sad2: I hope my AV took care of it.

I went to the website and got "BAD REQUEST (INVALID HOSTNAME)." Maybe the site is totally down until they get it fixed. :confused3
