So not knowing where to put this..I thought I would post here since I know there are a lot of us with fur babies on the boards.
We just bought new couches back in February and we thought our 9 yr old Corgi knew better than to get on the furniture.She was corrected when she was a puppy about getting up on the couch.Well I guess she thought that meant when we were in the viewing area of the couch and chair.
Well I told hubby the couches were smelling like a dog and I couldn't figure out why.She doesn't get on the couches.We couldn't figure it out unless it was when we were leaving or sleeping.One morning I busted her.She must have been very comfy because she didn't even move.
SO my question is .. how in the world can I get rid of this smell without buying new couches again?I can't stand the smell.It grosses me out.She is bathed and only goes out 3 times a day and comes right back inside.I know this is enough to get that smell and yes she is a dog but who wants it on the furniture? Not me.
I don't want to mask the smell with Febreeze products.I want something to take the smell out.

Nature's Miracle....the ultimate pet odor buster. I get mine at Pet's Mart.

Try Natures Miracle. It will not stain your couches. If you spray it on and the smell isn't gone, spray it again and work it into the fabric.
I use this stuff for pet odor and any other difficult odors.
You will need to get a device to keep the dog off the couch.
You can first try packing tape. Put several long strips on the couch, sticky side up. This is the cheapest of methods. Pet stores and internet, you can find other device like a machine that makes a loud sound or you can get a small shock collar with a device to place near couches.

We have a young great dane that is very distructive. We have had to put in electrical shock wire all around the flower bed and other areas. She if finally learning no to go there. She not the smartest dog.

Thanks ... I am going to the local pet store to see i they carry it.I just hate going in there sometimes because I think they are just trying to sell things and have no clue of what they are talking about.
We bought a guinea pig from them and they didn't know how to check to see if SHE was a female.And they said they don't check to see if they get them all mixed or just one sex like PetSmart does.So I am always unsure of going in and asking about products in there.

I am going to get some floor mats or carpet runners with the pokey things on the bottom and lay them upside down so when she jumps on the couch it will poke her .. LOL And see if that works.She is all about comfort..but NOT ON MY FURNITURE!! EEEWWWW

I couldn't find any runners or floor mats for the couch but I found the Natures Miracle..Now to figure out something to put on the couch to keep her off of it.
I just wish the friend we loaned her crate to 3 years ago wouldn't have trashed it when their dog died! UGH

we got our runner at home depot - they have it back by carpeting. its a clear plastic runner (with spikes on the bottom) - they sell it by the foot. Its on a big roll and the sales person will cut the length you need.

if you clean it up, or get a new couch, put a cover on it. You can buy them at wallmart, target anywhere.... so when you have guests or whatever you can take it off. then put it back on when in everyday situation. you can wash them too!!

We were getting ready to head out to Lowes to see if they have the runners there THANKS !! Glad to know it isn't going to be a wasted trip.
