Totally Last Minute Spring Fling! No DDP, Tons Of Pics! COMPLETE!

I am loving every delicious description and photo of your report! Thank you for taking the time to share. I am SO looking forward to trying The American Dream and that pasta dish at WPE!!!!

So...........what's next?

Thank you so much! :goodvibes I could definitely go for one of those American Dreams in this heat today! The chicken alfredo at WPE was delish, but then again so is everything they have there!

I love the tower of terror mug! I never get to have a cupcake at DHS, I am either too darn full or they are closed. One of these days :lmao:

I used to have this very same problem until I discovered the solution: Cupcakes for Breakfast!!!

I was going to say the same exact thing! :thumbsup2

Just read your last two Food Reports and seriously, the Freedom Pasta and the Lamb Stew look awesome. Now I am torn :confused3 ;)

We  WPE and eat there on our arrival night every trip. I saw the bacon-wrapped meatloaf on one of your previous food reports and did a cartwheel (everything is better with bacon, IMHO). I had the pasta you had the last time we were there and loved it. Yes, it really is that good :D

Nice job!! Loving every food porn minute of your report!! popcorn:: :goodvibes

I know! Everything at LTT is so darn good that it's hard to make up my mind on my entree choice. At least the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake for dessert is a given.

So true! Everything is better with bacon. My in-laws live by that motto I think. :lmao: My MIL puts bacon in EVERYTHING! She even bought bacon voda yesterday for Bloody Marys. Yum! Glad you liked the chicken alfredo from WPE too. You will like the bacon wrapped meatloaf even more! :thumbsup2

Thanks! So glad you are enjoying my DR!
:goodvibes

I was scrolling through the post and DH walked behind me and saw the pizza from WPE. He said that it looked yummy and asked if we were eating there. I said no, that we weren't eating there. He told me that he might have to eat there while I was shopping. He finally has some input! LOL!

If he eats there without you I hope he at least saves you a piece of pizza!

I'm glad you enjoy WPE so much this trip will be our 1st time there. We plan @ least 2 or 3 trips since everyone on the boards rave about it.

Q for you: It's $5 for a cup inside all the parks? How much are the refills on them? I might have to buy a couple.

Oh my gosh, you're going to love it there! You're staying at SSR right? It's a quick walk there from Congress Park which is so convenient. You have to go at least a couple times since there are so many great things to try.

Honestly, I'm not sure if they have those in all the parks. I would guess that they do, but this was the first time I had ever noticed it since I don't normally get anything from the snack stands like that. We bought ours at the end of our day, so I didn't need a refill and didn't think to ask. I don't think it had a price on the sign for refills. So basically what I'm saying is, I'm no help at all.
:lmao:

Cupcakes for breakfast!! Only in WDW!!

I definitly have to try some of the WDW cupcakes! The Sausage muffin sandwich looked good though too!!

WPE looks wonderful! Unfortunately there are to many other places I want to eat at!

What sort of experience did you have at HBD? Hubby liked Mama Melrose and I liked 50's Prime Time so am not sure where to go on our DHS day.

I would like to say I only eat cupcakes for breakfast at WDW, but that would be a lie. :rotfl: If we have leftover cupcakes, cake, brownies sitting around the house I always eat them for breakfast. Hubby is always cracking on me for it.

WPE is amazing! You should definitely check it out some time. You won't be sorry! :thumbsup2

Hubby and I went to HBD on our honeymoon and everything we ordered was just okay and so was the service. Nothing really stood out. In fact I couldn't even tell you what we ordered. Although, in fairness to HBD I think we ordered poorly, but it just wasn't good enough to make it a priority on our past few trips. I would like it give it another chance in the future. Also, we did get our coolest restaurant honeymoon treat from HBD. They took our picture during dinner and then at the end of the meal they gave us a little booklet that had pictures of the great love stories, with Disney couples pictured inside and then our picture was listed as the "Newest Love Story" on the last page with our picture from dinner. It's so cute! So, I wouldn't totally dismiss HBD, it just wasn't a standout for me on a trip where we had so many standout melas and experiences.

Having seen so many photos and descriptions of the red velvet cupcake lately, I just know that it's meant to be. We need to get acquainted. :lmao:

Anyway, I love your report!

The one it Starring Rolls is the best! I had one from Main Street Bakery, but this one was definitely better. :thumbsup2

Thank you very much for reading!
:goodvibes

After our delicious WPE meal we caught a showing of Avengers at AMC 24. When we came out of the movie around 6pm it was raining. Fortunatly I still had our ponchos in my purse, so we threw them on and started our walk back to SSR. On the way, we both decided we could go for a little something sweet and knew exactly where to stop. Ghirardelli!

After we placed our order and got our number from the cashier we went in search of a table. The inside tables were totally packed so we went outside looking for a table under the awning because it was now POURING! Some of the tables were taken by people eating their ice cream or waiting with their own number, but A LOT of people were just sitting there waiting out the rain. While people are entitled to sit wherever they darn well please, it would be polite of people to give their table to those with table numbers who are actually eating at Ghirardelli. I was a little bit annoyed to be honest. After standing out in the rain for about 5 minutes waiting for a table to free up we finally saw a family leaving and swooped in to take their now unoccupied table. About a minute later one of the servers came out with our beautiful ice cream creations.

Hubby got the The Presidio Passion - two scoops of vanilla ice cream smothered between layers of strawberry topping and freshly homemade hot fudge, topped with whipped cream and a chocolate covered strawberry.

I got the Mint Bliss - one scoop of mint chip ice cream, one scoop of chocolate ice cream, dark chocolate hot fudge sauce, whipped cream and a square of Mint Bliss Intense Dark chocolate. And I got it in a waffle bowl for good measure.

P1000796.jpg

I could not get a great picture of this to show just how awesome this thing was. We had a sundae here last trip and I liked it, but didn't love it and definitely didn't think it was worth $9 plus tax, bit this sundae was worth every penny and then some. There was a river of dark chocolate hot fudge at the bottom of the waffle bowl that was absolute heaven! The dark chocolate fudge complimented the mint ice cream so well and the waffle bowl was so fresh and delicious. Highly, highly recommend! :thumbsup2

Hubby was equally infatuated with his sundae. He said that the chocolate covered strawberry on the top was the best one he had ever had. He said it was perfectly ripe and delicious.

Despite the rain we had a fantastic time at Ghirardelli and I will definitely be returning for this sundae next trip as well!

We stayed at SSR for the rest of the night watching movies we rented from Community Hall since it was raining most of the night. I tried to get hubby to go back to DTD for some Earl of Sandwich late that night, but he was too tired. I didn't feel like walking there by myself, so that concludes foodies for day 4.

Up next... Kona Cafe and then... Kona Cafe!

Those sundaes look fantastic!! Darn lactose intolerance!! I doubt I can get by with one of those!! Bummer on the rain! Hopefully it let up for you the following day!

Oh my, the Mint Bliss Sundae at Ghirardelli is my absolute favourite ice-cream treat - ever! I just love how the dark fudge starts to harden up under the coolness of the ice cream so you get a gooey, sticky half-runny, half-set rich chocolate fudge sauce. I am practically drooling here. And then you improve on perfection by getting it in a waffle bowl - I am so stealing that idea in August.

Okay, I now have to add that Mint sundae to my list of must haves in July! Yum! I can't get over how rude some people are. If I saw someone waiting for a table, I would've gotten up. That would've really irked me.

Can't wait for Kona! My absolute FAVORITE!

OMG I am *dying* to get a sundae at Ghirardelli! We don't normally make our way to DTD though - only once on our honeymoon. Hmm...I might need to steer us in that direction during this trip... ;)

That strawberry is HUGE!
Looks awesome and since we've never had anything from Ghiardelli, I think it is high time to add it to our list. Do they take the DDP at all?

Oh no, that's a shame that you're lactose intolerant! Bummer :sad2:

We still had rain the next day, but we didn't let it get us down! That's what Disney ponchos are for!
:thumbsup2

Now you're making ME drool! That description was TOO accurate! :lmao: Definitely get it in the waffle bowl, it was fantastic!

You MUST try it! Especially in July. How else are you supposed to beat the heat? :thumbsup2 I couldn't believe how rude people were being. There was a huge group of girls just sitting there on their phones, not one of them eating, the whole time and they were still sitting there when we left. We saw a family waiting in the rain as I was finishing and I told them I would be done in a second and that they could have our table and I offered for them to set their stuff down at the table if they wanted and they were so appreciative. People just aren't aware of their surroundings sometimes I guess. :confused3

Kona is my favorite too! I have 3 Kona reviews for this trip. Love it!

Their sundaes are delicious! Definitely worth a trip to DTD. It was so much easier for us to get there this time which was the really great thing about SSR. Hope you do manage to get to Ghirardelli this trip! :thumbsup2

It was! I was a little jealous of his strawberry. I wonder if they'll let you add one to another sundae. Hmmmm... something to remember for next time.

They do not accept DDP at all. I think that's why we've never really had it until recently. I'm too full from all my DDP foodies and then I don't want to pay for something OOP when we still have a ton of snack credits left. It's really worth the extra money though!

I guess it's a good thing that we're only doing the DxDP for the first part of our trip when we're at POR. The second part of the trip is NO dining plan, therefore I will certainly spend my $ on a sundae at Ghiardelli!

Thank you for making my day - I work right down the street from there but have never been - now I know where I need to go asap! :) (Small world, too!)

I would have never thought the Amish Market was inside the market next to Trader Joe's and that they are there everyday. Good luck, hopefully they will have them ready by lunch time when you go. BTW they also have the egg filled pretzels that was mentioned her husband loves.

"However, let me just give you all a little warning. I had seen other poster's pics on this board and was well aware that the powdered sugar could be messy. I was going to eat these very carefully so as not to make a mess. Impossible! I was sitting on a chair in the hotel room eating these very carefully. Or so I thought. Hubby said something that made me laugh through my nose a little bit and I somehow snorted powdered sugar all over the room! :lmao::lmao::lmao: It was all over me, the floor and the bedspread. I swear there was more powdered sugar on the floor than there was on the beignets to start with. Quite the clean up. You have been warned."

This is so true! I was in New Orleans a few months ago and walking around the French Quarter you could always tell who had eaten beignets earlier that day; The powdery white evidence was usually all over them!:rotfl:

We had a mint bliss last time..next time i'm getting that strawberry one - looks great :thumbsup2

I'm generally not into fruit in my desserts, so that sundae didn't appeal to me, but hubby is and he raved and raved about this sundae. I think you'll enjoy it too! :)

OMG The Presidio Passion - fantastic!:wizard:

It is a nice looking sundae! I just wanted to steal the strawberry off the top, but I think hubby would have divorced me for it. :lmao:

That's a great way to do it! I think I might have to try a split stay where we have DDP for one part and no DDP for the other and plan accordingly. Good idea! :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh! That is too funny!

We had an 8:10am reservation this Tuesday morning for my favorite, Kona Cafe! We got up and around a little bit late and there was no way we were catching a bus to MK, getting the Resort Launch over to Poly and making it by 8:10. Impossible. So, I decided to drive us there. The more times I come to WDW the more familiar I am becoming with the roads here and I am starting to know my way around. I also had a handy little map of WDW with me that I've had for the last few trips, so I grabbed the car keys and off we went!

I got to Poly with no problem and I got there in about 10-15 minutes. Unless we had gotten lucky with catching a bus right away (which we never do) we probably wouldn't have even left the grounds of SSR yet. I am driving us around WDW from now on. Such a time saver!

Anyway, we arrived about 5 minutes early for our ressie and they seated us immediately.

We both started out with a pot of the Kona Blend coffee and we each got a glass of their Lilikoi Juice, which is a passion fruit, orange and guava blend.

P1000800.jpg

I love this darn juice, but it's crazy expensive. $4 and change for a glass of juice is ridiculous.
However, I love it, so I will quit complaining and sip it...s l o w l y
:rotfl:

After we ordered, our server brought out a dish with all of our breakfast condiments.

P1000803.jpg

Our breakfast came out super fast and they set this beauty down in front of hubby.

P1000804.jpg

The Somoan! Poached eggs with Hollandaise served over smoked pulled pork hash. He has been talking about this breakfast almost every morning since we got back from our trip last year. It was probably his favorite meal last time. He is a huge fan of this dish. He kept thinking about ordering something different once we got here, but I told him he's mentioned this Somoan 100 times, he had darn well better get it while we're here! It's not like we can drive down the street and get it, unless you consider 1,000 miles of I-95 a street! Here is a pic of it once he's dug into it a little bit.

P1000806.jpg

As much as I LOVE the Tonga Toast I decided to try something new. I really wanted to try the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes, but I was in the mood for a good sweet/savory mix of breakfasty items this morning so I went with the Big Kahuna since I would still get to try the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes this way.

P1000805.jpg

Loved it! The Big Kahuna comes with French toast, Pancakes topped with Pineapple sauce and Macadamia Nut Butter, eggs, home fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage. The french toast was the only thing on the plate I wasn't crazy about. Very generic and a little bit stale actually. The pancakes were absolutely delicious and so were the fried potatoes. I'm not a big fan of sausage and I usually don't like breakfast ham either, but I decided to try the ham and asked for extra bacon instead of sausage. The ham is sorta hidden under the mountain of bacon in this picture, but it was awesome! It was a thick slice of savory ham with some nice grill marks on it. I am now a fan of breakfast ham! I got my eggs scrambled with cheddar which was a good choice because the cheese was really really good. Very melty and stringy. Yum!

Another fantastic meal at Kona! I love, love, love it here! I read so many negative reviews for Kona on here, but it is my favorite. I have yet to have a bad experience here and we've been here quite a few times now over the last 5 years. Our service here this morning was very good and we were chatting with our server and we asked about lunch since we have never been here for lunch and he got us a lunch menu to look at and told us how slow it is there in the afternoon and that we should come for lunch. Why, that sounds like a great idea! We had dinner reservations for Kona on this same night, so maybe we'll make it an all Kona day!

It's been years (maybe 8?) since I have been to Kona. I booked an ADR for dinner for November. The breakfasts always look great, but neither DH nor I are big breakfast eaters, although we love the occasional Sunday brunch. :confused3

Looking forward to reading more. When we used to go to Kona years ago, our favorite meal there was lunch.

Ok thats it...I have got to get the Samoan! Every single time we go to Kona I say I am going to get it but never do and this past Oct I was all set to order it until they put a special menu in my hands that offered seasonal pumpkin pancakes! I just booked a secon breakfast at Kona so I can eat those pancakes and the Samoan! Question is should I order the Samoan on my first reservation or the second? :lmao:

Unfortunatly hubby and I are both big breakfast eaters. However, we don't go out for breakfast much when we're at home. I love Sunday brunch too! We have a restaurant in our town that has THE BEST Sunday brunch, however I work every single Sunday from 10-2 (exactly during brunch hours), so I almost never get to go out for brunch. Disney needs to put on a good Sunday brunch at one of the hotels. I think that would be a huge hit!

Is your November ADR for Kona a breakfast, lunch, or dinner?

Yum! Pumpkin pancakes sound delicious! That is hard to pass up. Booking two Kona breakfasts is a must for us now too. Get the Somoan on the first trip and that way if you love it you can always get it again the second trip and if you don't like it you close out your Kona experience on a postivie note by ordering a favorite on the second trip! :thumbsup2

Yum, I love Kona breakfast, and I get the Big Kahuna as well. So good!

Another Kona fan! :thumbsup2 The Big Kahuna was so good! I'm ready for another one! I think I need to save up and stay at Poly just to accomodate all my meals at Kona.
