Totally Last Minute Spring Fling! No DDP, Tons Of Pics! COMPLETE!

I am a very big fan of funnel cake, but no one else I know likes it, so I never get to have it very often since I can in no way eat an entire funnel cake by myself. These beignets are the perfect solution to that problem. It is basically a funnel cake in a smaller square shaped form. Three beignets were just right for me. Love Love Love!

Thank you for this description. It's exactly what I was hoping for! Why don't they sell smaller versions of funnel cakes? :confused3

Loving all your reviews :thumbsup2

Thank you very much! :goodvibes

Great reviews! :goodvibes

We went to LTT yesterday and I had the same meal as you. I really enjoyed it. I agree about the gravy; there wasn't enough, so I asked for more.

Thanks! I wish I had thought to ask for more gravy too. Something to remember for next time. :thumbsup2

Those waffle sandwiches look like something I want to try! I prefer savory foods, so both the chicken and the prosciutto look amazing. Plus, for some reason I cannot have enough prosciutto lately!

Of all the times I have been to WDW, I have only once been to LTT and that was for lunch and I didn't have dessert. I may need to return if only for the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake!

You should definitely try a waffle sandwich. It's an experience!

The Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is heavenly! I can't recommend it enough!

I know! Why wouldn't they sell smaller ones? Makes sense to me. Whenever I go to our local carnival I always want a funnel cake, but they're too big and I know I'll make myself sick trying to eat the whole thing so I never get one. The beignets are the perfect solution to that problem. :thumbsup2

After we got back from MK we decided to go to DTD and walk around the shops and see what movies were playing. We took the path that ran from right behind our room in Congress Park at SSR to Marketplace. Right after we arrived at Marketplace hubby spotted the Margarita Bar that sits along the marina area.

I have walked past this place probably 100 times, but it never occured to me to check it out until now. There were quite a few people in line so we jumped in at the end of the line and looked over their menu.

Hubby decided on the Rum Runner.

P1000759.jpg

The bartender really hooked him up by putting quite a bit of 151 on the top of the drink. Hubby loved his drink! He said it was the best Rum Runner he had ever had.

I went with the Wildberry Margarita.

Wow! Delicious! They put sugar around the rim of the cup which really enhanced this drink for me. I've been thinking about this drink more than anything else on the trip. It was that good. I'm definitely going to try and make one of these at home.

We walked around for awhile and couldn't find a movie to see at that particular time, so we started walking back to SSR. On our way back through the Marketplace we stopped at the Margarita Bar again and we each got another drink. Hey, it's vacation!

Up next... Deciding where to eat when every place is packed for Mother's Day.

As we made our way through DTD that evening it occured to us that every single restaurant looked really busy. It looked like a lot of locals as well as tourists were at DTD for Mother's Day. We had no reservations for dinner anywhere and it was looking like Mother's Day might put a kink in our plans, so we headed back to the room to formulate a plan.

Hubby wanted to do Turf Club, but after looking at the current menu I had decided that I really didn't want to eat there this trip. It really breaks my heart to say that since we used to love TC so much in the past, but it's gone too far downhill for me now.

Hubby and I both play fantasy baseball and we had a few guys in the late night baseball game that evening, so he suggested ESPN Club to eat dinner and watch the game. We figured it would be the least likey restaurant to be busy on Mother's Day too. It's a plan! We walked back over to DTD and caught a bus bound for Boardwalk.

A little trick I learned on a previous stay at Boardwalk is that when you share a bus with Swan, Dolphin, Yacht and Beach, Boardwalk is the last stop and Swan is the first, but there is a lovely walkway in between Swan and Boardwalk. You could get to any of those hotels from that walkway actually. We hopped off the bus at the first stop and walked through the lobby of the Swan and out to the walkway. It's a very very short distance to the entrance of Boardwalk. Here's hubby being a goof.

I cannot express to you how much I love this hotel. I always forget just how much until I am standing there on the boardwalk. Hubby and I stayed here for 2 weeks on our honeymoon and it was the best time of our lives. We were also supposed to get married there. It unfortunatly didn't work out that way, but that's a long sad story for another time and another board. When we stayed here we had a boardwalk view and I still know exactly what room we stayed in. As we walked past our old room I saw people sitting on the balcony. How dare Disney put total strangers in MY room! :lmao: Even if you can't stay here I would highly recommend just stopping by and walking around the boardwalk. The atmosphere here cannot be beat. It always makes for a great time.

Anway, back to the food. We made our way down the boardwalk until we arrived at ESPN Club.

The place was not crowded at all and we were seated right away.
P1000766.jpg

This is the bar area when you first walk in the main doors.
P1000767.jpg

There are different games on different tvs inside the restaurant. If you tell them what game you are trying to watch they will seat you accordingly. Our game was on the big tv in the large, main part of the restaurant.
P1000770.jpg

Excellent! It had been awhile since our last meal, but we really weren't too terribly hungry, so we ordered Macho Nachos to split. Minus the jalapenos.
P1000769.jpg

These nachos were huge! We worked on these for 2 hours before we finsihed them. They were really really good. Perfect for watching some baseball.

Well, you can't have baseball and nacos without beer, so we also ordered a pitcher of Blue Moon to split.

A very enjoyable evening. We usually have a pretty good time here and the food is always tasty too. If you enjoy watching sports it's a fun place to come hang out for a few hours on vacation.

Oh, and part way through our dinner I noticed a whole group of 8 people I know from my town. How weird is that?! So, I went over and chatted with them for a few. Even though we live in a town of about 11,000 people that is 1,000 miles away, I always manage to run into someone I know down here. I think I know too many people! :rotfl:

Up next... A cupcake for breakfast!

Me and Tequila don't get on - but that Wildberry Margarita looks pretty good. Hmmm...wonder if it might be time for a reunion ;)

I know what you mean about the Boardwalk. We just love the area, it is so beautiful and relaxing - plus so near to Epcot :thumbsup2 Would love to hear the story about why you didn't end up getting married there - maybe next time we're at 'the World' at the same time, I can buy you a Wildberry Margarita or a Gamma Ray and you can tell me the whole, sordid tale :goodvibes Meanwhile, sounds like a great evening at ESPN.

I showed DH your rose and crown pics last night - I knew the burger would be right up his street. He wanted to go so now san angel lunch has made way for rose and crown adr.

Had never really looked as it before as being English it seemed odd to go to there. They don't have burgers like that in England though :goodvibes

Just read the whole thread and have to say hello to the OP. Howdy, southern neighbor! :wave2:

You and your husband are an adorable couple. I'm enjoying your reviews immensely. :)

After our delicious lunch we started to make our way around World Showcase. I went into this day wanting a treat from the French bakery or the Caramel shop in Germany, but I was kind of hot and full and those didn't sound appetizing at that exact moment. Then we passed the Fife & Drum in the America section.

P1000978.jpg

I recalled my Dis knowledge :rotfl:and double checked the menu and then I knew just what I wanted.

The American Dream!

P1000563.jpg

This really hit the spot! I love the frozen drinks in the parks anyway, but adding the ice cream in the middle made it extra tasty. Perfect treat for walking around WS in the heat!

I had sucked this down by the time we reached Mexico. After a ride on the Gran Fiesta Tour (which I weirdly love) we decided to leave Epcot and head back to POFQ. Between the big lunch and the long drive poor hubby felt like he had been hit with a tranquilizer dart! :rotfl: It's time to nap!

Up next... A frantic search for a late night dinner!

Oh does that American Dream look delicious! My DS and I have "ear" marked it for our upcoming trip! Thanks for sharing this photo and review!

Those waffle sandwiches look ammmmmazing! I have had them on my list of "must try" items for our next trip, but seeing those pics...oh man!! I...cannot...wait!!

Ooey gooey toffee cake :worship:

Those nachos at ESPN look sooo good too!

We are staying at BW for 10 nights in Dec and I cannot wait!

Cant wait to see more pics!

Ugh! I have got to stop reading food porn! I have no officially changed my ADR's for October a gazillion times! Just added LTT for lunch....that ooey gooey yumminess has my name written all over it.

Thank you so much for sharing! Can't wait to read more, er, I mean I hope I don't end up changing my reservations again!

;)

I just sat and read your entire dining review from the start and I love it!! Last year we stayed at POFQ and my DD fell in love with the beignets (ok, I did too). This year we're staying at Riverside so we'll need to take a walk over to FQ to get them! This will also be our first time without the dining plan so it's nice to see that you're enjoying yourself by eating whatever, whenever.

Thanks for the reviews - these are so great! You're introducing me to lots of new things to put on my must try list!

You chose the 2 drinks I thought sounded good at the margarita Bar!! :goodvibes

They were delish! The Wildberry one was amazing and I had a sip of hubby's too and it was pretty darn good. You could really taste the banana in it.

Me and Tequila don't get on - but that Wildberry Margarita looks pretty good. Hmmm...wonder if it might be time for a reunion ;)

That sounds like a plan! :thumbsup2 But for now, I'll just say this about my wedding that didn't happen... in-laws. That says it all right there! :lmao:

I showed DH your rose and crown pics last night - I knew the burger would be right up his street. He wanted to go so now san angel lunch has made way for rose and crown adr.

It was really good! Hubby had a great burger there on our previous trip too. I think you will enjoy it there! I could definitely see why you never really thought to eat there before. If they put a TS restaurant in the American Pavillion I don't know if I would really have the desire to go either. :rotfl:

wow those nachos at ESPN look great as does your margarita - never noticed the margarita bar at DTD

I had never really paid much attention to it before either. Now, if I could just get those nachos at the Margarita Bar, I would be all set! :thumbsup2

Just read the whole thread and have to say hello to the OP. Howdy, southern neighbor! :wave2:

Hi there! :wave2: Thank you so much! So glad you joined in! :goodvibes

Those nachos look great!

They were darn good! It had a lot of tomatoes on it too, which I loved!

I am lovin' this SO much, that I went back and read your other reports! Great reading. More, please!:goodvibes

Awesome! Thank you so much! :goodvibes I'm in a wedding this weekend, so I've been super busy, but I should have some more updates tomorrow. :thumbsup2

Oh yeah, you have to try a waffle sandwich and the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is not to be missed! BW for 10 nights, that's fantastic! Such a beautiful resort. I went to WDW last December and loved it! All the Christmas decorations make it even more magical. :wizard:

Ugh! I have got to stop reading food porn! I have no officially changed my ADR's for October a gazillion times! Just added LTT for lunch....that ooey gooey yumminess has my name written all over it.

;)

That's exactly how I usually am! It was probably a good thing that I had no time to plan this trip, so I didn't change plans 100 times, only to change them again once we get there! :lmao: LTT has become a must-do for me. You're going to love it!

I just sat and read your entire dining review from the start and I love it!! Last year we stayed at POFQ and my DD fell in love with the beignets (ok, I did too). Thanks for joining in! :goodvibes At least the walk over to POFQ from POR and back again will burn off the calories from the beignets, right? That really is the great thing about to DDP. Whatever, whenever, no restrictions, other than my wallet and my willpower, but I never let that stop me! :rotfl:

Wow I think I got drunk off reading about ur hubby's drink @ DTD!!!:lmao: Extra 151. [Ouch!! :headache:The thought is making my head hurt since I just had a bachelorette party last night. Only had 3 beers a shot & a LARGE glass of champagne.:confused3] It sounds like you guys had a very nice time!! I WILL def. keep this spot in mind! GREAT tip on getting to the Boardwalk. I have never been inside the S&D so that will be a perfect opportunity to sneak a peek! Good idea!!

Oh, man, every single thing you got looks and sounds delish! That toffee cake?!

And I'm definitely going to have to stop by the Magarita Bar on our next trip ;)

Wow I thought I'd seen all the food in Disney World but somehow you found quite a few things that I've never gotten! :) I think the ones I am going to have to try on the next trip are the American Dream, the Waffle Sandwich, and the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake! :) Thanks!
