Toshiba questions...

I have a Toshiba Satellite notebook (and also a Toshiba TV). When I first got my TV it turned off every so often (by its self!). Now that I have the Notebook, its doing the same thing! It turns off when ever it darn well pleases! Anyone experinced anything like this?
 
Nope, we've had a Toshiba laptop for about a month, and no problems yet. Can't say about the TV through; did you ever figure out what it's problem was?
 
My dad has a Toshiba TV taht works great. I havea Toshiba DVD that refuses to turn off. Kinda odd that I have the exact opposite problem as you.
 
Von, I have a satellite, also. (Actually 2) Go into the contol panel and check the power settings. They may be set to shut off the screen and the hard drive after X amount of time. If you are running XP, you may have to do it throught the Microsoft Power settings. Hope that helps!
 

That is weird!! We have two Toshiba big screens and no problem, but I have heard that because the notebooks are cheaper they are having problems. A girl in one of my classes is always having problems with hers. You may just have to call the toll free number. I hope you bought the extended warranty with it just in case. Good luck
 
Using a Toshiba lap top for some time. I have never had this problem.
 
i'm definetly going to call the customer support. this is ridiculous! i'm never buying Toshiba again...
 
We have a Satellite also. We really don't have that problem, but just a few days over one year old, the hard drive crashed and we had to replace it. Fortunately, we purchased the extended warrantee and got it done for free.
 
Sorry - I can't help with your current problem. I just wanted to say that you should check any documentation that came with you notebook. I have an old Satellite Pro (really old, PII 266) but it was the only notebook I've ever seen that said you shouldn't leave it plugged in when it was turned off....that it caused problems with the battery. They may have fixed that problem since, but I thought I'd mention it.

After all the trouble we had with this notebook, I'll never buy anything Toshiba again! (It was a company computer, so I had no choice.) In the first 6 months I had it, it was crashing 30 - 40x/day. No kidding! I finally got fed up with their tech support & our IT dept. and just fixed it myself. (flashed the BIOS & upgraded the OS) Please note that the directions on their site for doing that were very different from the norm.

Our IT guys said the site was dumb & did it their own way. When I finally took over & did it according to the site, I stopped having problems.
