Should I assume that the S4201 model is a later and newer model because the number is higher?

Not necessarily. One counter-example: The Motorola 3412 is an updated version of the Motorola 6412. In this case, I'd suspect that is the case, because the S4201 is on the Toshiba website while the S2081 is not.
