I was wondering if anyone could comment on what they thougth of the difference between these for having lunch once we board the ship.

Are the lines very long at one vrs. the other.

I would image the Topsiders is fun to be outside and see the goings on, vrs being inside at a table.

Thanks

We actually didn't do either! We decided to hang out by the pool and grab either Pluto's or Pinocchio's. It seemed easier than uphauling everyone. The kids could eat whenever they got hungry.

On our last cruise we did have lunch at both Topsider's and Parrot Cay. You are correct, the main difference is that you can eat outside at Topsider's. However, you do get free soda at Parrot Cay. I believe the food was the same at both restaurants. You do have to wait in line at Topsider's, while at Parrot Cay, you are seated by a server and then go up to get your food from the buffet. It's not a huge difference - it just seemed that Parrot Cay was more relaxed and a little nicer.

Another difference is seating

At topsiders you find your own table. We never had a case where there were no tables available, but on a few occasions empty tables were few and far between.

You are seated at Parrot Cay, which means that normally you will be seated with other people. So this is a great option if you enjoy meating others over a meal.

Of course you can ask to have a table by yourself. There were always plenty of tables so this shouldn't be a prolbem.

If you spot friends and/or family at a table that's not full, you can also request to be seated with them.

I think the biggest difference in the two, especially during the hot summer months...is the air conditioning. Parrot Cay is always so nice and cool....I do not enjoy eating outside in the humidity and at Topsider's you can not always get an inside table. PC has many large windows so the view is nice as well.

We prefer PC over Topsiders for embarkation lunch buffet.

We went to Parrot Cay for our first lunch. I think there were less people there and there are a lot of tables. It was much more relxed and nicer looking. I felt like I was at a real restaraunt event though it was a buffet. Parrot Cay just has a diffrent atmospehere. I think the food was better too.
The rest of the week we often went to Topsiders for breakfast because it was aft and our cabin was aft so we just had to get on the elevator and we were there.

We like Topsider's because it's a tradition w/us. (We didn't know about Parrot Cay being open for lunch on our first cruise.)

Topsider's is also 'brighter' w/all of the windows.

Who knows? We might double-dip. (Something we're going to do on Palo night.):hyper:

It's the buffet for us! Who wants to wait and wait for the cruise, then stay INSIDE?

Just to clarify...Parrot Cay is also a buffet at lunchtime, including embarkation day. Both places serve the same food.

We prefer Topsiders because it really makes us feel like we're on a cruise. We ate at Parrot Cay's buffet once and it was very nice, but we just prefer Topsiders.
