I also give a vote for Boston, went there last year and love it love it love it!!! Never realized the history in Boston, not sure if it is because i am Canadian or was just unaware but a great fun city...........
OK, so you've added Austin, Boston, Denver and Seattle. But I share Suejai's curiosity - what are your criteria? It seems that every city in the list has something of scenic or touristic value, places where you could imagine going for a few days just to tour around, absorbing the atmosphere.
But if that is the criteria, why in the world do you not include Atlanta, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans and Philadelphia? Many of these have lots of historically important attractions, and Las Vegas, Miami and New Orleans are great places to visit for special reasons of their own.
And any list of "Top US cities to visit" put on the Disboards surely should include not only LA, but also Orlando, shouldn't it?
I'm not sure about including Orlando. Is there actually much to see in Orlando itself? In a way, most of us seem to head to an all-inclusive or two (like WDW) and I bet that few actually go into Orlando.
I like the list but would add San Antonio, New Orleans and Washington DC.
I've only been to 4 cities on that list, and live right outside NYC, and I think that list was printed somewhere recently. I remember being very surprised that DC wasn't on the list, as well as Boston (both cities I enjoyed). I was only in Philly for a weekend for a dance competition, but was underwhelmed - I'll have to try it again, but I'm surprised it didn't make the cut.
I would keep Chicago, San Francisco, New York City, Charleston, Honolulu, & San Diego. But what about the other great cities to visit in the United States... what about Boston, Los Angeles, Miami, Seattle, Las Vegas, New Orleans, St. Augustine, Washington DC, & Philadelphia.
ETA: I agree about NYC. It is amazing between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We've gone at that time and in the summer and I would pick that time over summer any day.
I would remove Charleston...I see it almost everyday and its nothing special...Key West, Miami, Gatlinburg, New Orleans, Chicago, St. Louis, San Diego, Vegas, DC would be my list
