TOP SECRET Ladies and gentlemens like the previous year MY FREE DINING NEWS

Okay, I have a question for those that might know.. I booked my whole (package) trip waaaaay back. I was told by so many people, I couldn't possibly name them all, that if(when) FD came out, it would be added to my current reservation. Therefore, my ticket prices would stand at the lower price. This morning a bunch of people are being told that because we had to upgrade to a garden view (at POR) to get the FD, we now have to pay the new higher ticket price difference.... what's up with that? Oh, and it was confirmed by many people, CMs and their supervisors.

Anyway want to guess why they made that change of policy... or whatever you want to call it?
No, there has not been a change in policy, I just called and added a free dining code to an existing reservation at POR Royal Rooms, that was booked months ago before the ticket price increase, and I was not charged the new ticket prices.

It used to be that way...but when the new ticket prices came out there were threads on dis that said this year the policy changed. I think it's awful too...but nothing you can do about that I guess.
Do you have a link to those threads? I just called and added a free dining code to an existing reservation at POR Royal rooms and it does not appear at all that we were charged for the difference in the ticket price increase. I'll go check my math again . . . . .

That isn't how any free dining offer has worked in the last 8 years and either that info is incorrect or you have misinterpreted it.

I'm crossing my fingers & hoping you're correct! The link to the Disney Visa offer posted earlier has the dates for Deluxes as different from the Values/Moderates.http://www.disneyrewards.com/offers/wdwfreedinejuly12 Maybe they just made a mistake on the site or the offer dates will be different when the general offer is released.

IF the dates are correct, I may try the room only thing for the 1st night.

Oh, I thought you CALLED them and they told you that. Hopefully it is just a fluke on the rewards site and it will all work out for you for your original plan afterall!

this happened to us one year and as long as you are checking in during a time when free dining is offered, you will get free dining for your whole stay.

Yes. We're also arriving on the 29th and staying until the 8th at CBR. I had the same question as you last year when we originally planned to go. The CM I spoke with last year said as long as you check in the day before a black out then you are covered for your entire stay.

People have gotten FD there today, so it might just be booked for your dates. You could always switch resorts, but I would call on Thursday morning to see if more rooms have been added and then call back later in the day or on Friday and see if any rooms have opened up. People will likely do a lot of upgrading to deluxe or better room categories when they get their FD added. Good luck!

We just switched to POR Royal Guest Room with a river view. So all is well for us. :)

Is the FD limited? I mean.... can the FD offer "sell out"? I just found out late last week that my hubby won two free airline tickets through a contest at work. I am waiting to found out about the details of the free tickets before making any reservations. If we don't get the information for another two weeks, is it possible I won't be able to get FD (we want to do the Halloween party on a Sunday night, so we were thinking of either going Oct 12- 15 or the 19-22).

I am new to the boards, but Danny it seems you are a Disney mindreader! Can you tell me if room discounts are usually offered the same time as FD? I would prefer to go the week before the FD, but I don't want to do that if I won't get a room discount (I want one or the other- FD or a room discount! :goodvibes)

Thanks!

Alright, it's my turn to apoligize! lol!

I spoke to Winston, who is a customer service manager at Disney reservations, he was super informative, very nice and helpful. He said they were thrown for a bit of a loop this morning and that the agents were just informed that they have implemented a new program in the reservations system and that you still do not have to rebook or cancel, but that the computer WILL automatically charge you the new ticket price. He said that this procedure and program were brand new and some of the agents were still confused and amight not have been giving accurate information to guests.

So, I went back and looked at the reservation that I added the code to this morning, which was for a friend of mine who was at work and could not hang on the phone all morning trying to get the discount, and my math must just have been wrong. They were charge about $100.00 more for ticket increase prices.

Wow, you can always learn something new on the Disboards! I still don't think it's good customer service, and Winston agreed, but it is what it is. We were lucky enough to get a pin code a few months ago for the LM rooms and did not have to pay an increase. We have a large family and usually stay 9 nights, so this would be a substantial increase for us. Free Dining would still be the best discount for us, but you would have to factor in the ticket increase.

Is that Disney Visa offer open to anyone with a Disney visa?

Well, the Oct. 12-15 timeframe is completely blacked out for FD, so you could always reserve a FD package for the 19-22 and then cancel it if you find out that you can't go at that time. And, yes, FD is limited and sells out rather quickly.

Yes, free dining rooms are limited. All of the resorts are only alloted so many free dining rooms. Some resorts and room categories and more popular than others and will go faster than others. In the past, All-Star Movies and Pop standard rooms have usually sold out first and Port Orleans Riverside usually sells out too.

The room only discounts can very slightly but are almost always in line with the free dining dates.

Is that Disney Visa offer open to anyone with a Disney visa?

Yes, but someone in a thread asked about a Disney Visa debit card (which was discontinued and made into a regular Chase debit card), and I never heard back on if they got an answer on that. As far as the Disney Visa credit card, this offer is for everyone who has a regular card or the premier card.:thumbsup2

Okay.. just so I'm clear. You will get hit with that ticket price increase whether you had to upgrade to a garden view (or higher) or not? Right? Just the act of adding FD to your package is what triggers the price increase (because of the ticket price increase). Am I understanding correctly? :)

And since we will be there 15 days... it's going to be substantial, I guess. Yes, of course it's no comparison to what we are getting with the free dining. That goes without saying. But it is yet another unforeseen expense I have to add to my package payoff amount. Know what I mean? ;)
