Top 3 Best and Worst meals at WDW?

Over the years we've experienced most places in WDW. Some places were good one time, while bad another...I guess it all depends on that particular order. Having said that, we've never had a problem with the Brown Derby. I said this in another post, but we had an excellant meal at Cindys Royal Table last August and a bad meal at the Yachtsman...go figure.

One thing I will say....what is that horribly, aweful bad smell that hits you every time when you walk into the German restaurant? Stay away!

Back to the "theory"...I have yet to see Artist Point in anyone's bottom 3 (of course, now that I type this, someone will just to prove me wrong...

BEST
1. LE CELLIER -- Consistent food, good value on the DDP and awesome service. LOVE the pretzel breadsticks and the cheese soup, like everyone else. Took my whole family there last year and DBro proclaimed his pork chop "the best meal he's ever eaten!"

2. CRYSTAL PALACE/BREAKFAST -- The puffed French toast and breakfast lasagna are the best ways to start out our trip! DD loves the character interaction.

3. TUSKER HOUSE -- The rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes and veggies are a great, semi-healthy alternative to burgers and fries at a CS meal.

WORST (Only two I can think of!)
1. CAPE MAY/BREAKFAST -- So-so food but wonderful character interaction. I wouldn't go here unless I had children. The majority of the buffet food was similar to that you'd find at a Holiday Inn.

2. Sci-Fi Drive-In -- The restaurant was 75 percent empty, yet they piled DH and I into the backseat of an already full car. The lady in front of me kept flicking her waist-length hair in my food. It was miserable, and we felt like we couldn't say a word to each other without the four other strangers in the car listening in. We both had burgers, I had fries and DH had onion rings. Can't even remember how the food was because we were so miserable.

Beaches and Cream - the worst food that I or any of my family have eaten not only in WDW but in our whole lives - YUCK!!!!!!!!
Mama Melrose - not good
Ohana - now that was really bad!

Akershus - great healthy food

Worst:

Fultons - I feel sorry for visitors coming here and thinking "well, I'm in Florida, so all the seafood must be good!" -- Blech! You can get better frozen seafood at Red Lobster and it's insanely overpriced.

ABC Commissary -- I used to love this place about 10 years ago---but it's steadily gone downhill and I won't even attempt it anymore.

Teppenyaki -- Food is insanely overpriced and not good--- you can get the same meal, but better quality, less pricey, entertaining chefs if you take 2 steps off property and go to Kobe.

Best:

Artist Point: The mushroom soup is TO DIE for...so much that I make it at home when I'm being cheap. Buffalo Med Rare---everything in here is great.

California Grill: I love the pork and sushi - my "starter" wedding reception was held there and I still think it was the best food I've ever had at a wedding.

Portobello Yacht Club: A staple for my family for nearly 15 years...we go so much we know the wine steward and half the staff. Rosemary Chicken or Parm encrusted steak. Bring the breathmints though for the roasted garlic to smear on the bread!

Keeping in mind I haven't been to any of the "signature" restaurants except Flying Fish and CRT:
My top 3: Crystal Palace (breakfast)
Whispering Canyon
Boma
My bottom 3: Chef Mickey's
Cosmic Ray's
not a restaurant, but I hated the turkey leg I got at the

I love these threads that last for months!

WORST

Worst is a realative term, but we'll just say "least pleasing."

1. Concourse Steakhouse - just wasn't anything special, but it might be because we ate here New Year's Eve.
2. Toy Story Pizza Planet - Tombstone-style pizza, which isn't bad at home, but I sorta expected more.
3. Pepper Market - this is the one place I just don't think we'll be going back to. The food wasn't horrible, just mediocre, but never, ever did anyone on the wait staff come check on us. I asked that the automatic 10% gratuity be removed - I was nice about it - and the manager comped us everything except our soft drinks. (He also insisted in knowing where we were sitting ... I expect it was a bad day for someone after we left.) It seemed disproportionally pricey, even by WDW standards.

BEST (in no particular order)
1. Le Cellier - best in Epcot.
2. Artist Point - understatedly elegant, and just oh-so fine each visit.
3. Boma - love it or hate it ... there's just not much middle ground, is there?

Honorable mentions to Brown Derby and Flying Fish.

Best:

Le Cellier (the best food we have ever had at Disney)
Ohana's (have tried both old and new menus and like both)
Chef Mickey's (dd just loves this place and it is our first night ritual)

Worst:
Italian restaurant (worst overpriced food and snooty service)
Maya Grill at CSR was excellent food but horrible service...
I don't really have that many worsts I guess, can't think of any

I have had to change reservations as I noticed the parks being open late so our choices ended up limited.

Now we have:
Day 1, WDW Crystal Palace Lunch
Day 2, MGM Si-Fi-now that I have read the tread, just burger and shake
Day 3, AK Rainforest Cafe, Lunch

We did this since we get up late, mountain time and won't get to the park until later in the morning. We will have a breakfast bar on board but in need of a sit down lunch after a few hours.

I am so sorry that we did Si-Fi now as it seems to be awful. But the 3 yr old should like, and I will just have a shake.

I just returned from WDW and here is what I suggest:

First of all I will have to disagree with firemanx about the Concourse Steakhouse. I eat here everytime I go to WDW. It is our favorite restaurant there! I have never had bad service there either. As a matter of fact we always leave a great tip because the service is so good and the food is delicious. I am a teacher now but was a waitress for many years and believe me, I will be the first person to complain if the service is not good.

Lunches:
Earl of Sandwhich in Donwtown Disney...very good and cheap...$4.95 a sandwich
Peco's Bill in Magic Kingdom- I have eaten lunch here the last couple of times I went to MK and the food was very fresh and tasty.

Narcoosse's at the Grand Floridian is superb! The food was so good and it has a great view. It is a little pricey though...I probably would no have eaten there if I was not on the Dining Plan.

just ate there about a week ago. I thought it was good but my husband didn't like the sauce that was on the steak. It was sweet and he doesn't like sweet unless its a dessert.

My opinion of Concourse steakhouse is totally different from firemanx. I love it there. We eat there everytime we are at WDW. I have never had bad service there and i was a waitress for many years so I would be the first to complain about service. The food is delicious! If you like scallops they have a pan seared scallop appetizer that is soooooo good! Also try the filet mignon.

Boy, I came looking for this site just for this. Our opinion was the same, except we weren't smart enough to complain to the manager. We got one drink for the 4 of us, and that cost $5 in gratutiy. As it was, the food was at best so-so. Our DD had the stir fry meal. For the cost of that, we could have fed the whole family on Asian food down the street for a week.
Counter service was terrible there also. ELW pointed out that it seemed that one person behind the pizza counter spent her time looking in cabinets behind the counter and not doing much else.
However this place was our only bad experience at WDW last week. (forgot the one listed below. Read on)

We did California Grill on recommendations here, and must say that while the food, service, and view we great, it was REALLY LOUD!!!!

Also did Germany, which is our must-do, and was great.
Olivia's as usually for breakfast. Very nice.
Did Prime Time and WC at Wilderness. Both for the interaction for the girls rather than the food. Though not disapointed in either.

Only other bad experience was at the Bakery shop in Future World at Epcot. We were there right after they opened Friday morning. They seems surprised that there were actually customers, and had nothing ready. As it was, had a bit of a confrontation with a CM there about attitude. Should have complained about that one also, I guess. Well, next time we will know better.

I don't know the names of my faves, but I can say, Epcot, the Italian restaurant rocks, also the seafood restaurant in Epcot (Living Seas???) was great, hated the Mexican restaurant in Epcot.

Any opinions on Teppanyaki? We have ressies there this year.

Also loved the Cinderella's castle breakfast and Chef Mickey's breakfast.
