I'm surprised Miami is in at 19. I would have thought it would be in the top 5!

Closest 2 to me are Hartford and Springfield- both about 90min from me.
I live closer to the safest city in the US- Newton, MA - an hour away

Sad but the 1st one is closest to me. Thank goodness it's still an hour though.

#2....Detroit...downtown Detroit is only about 15 minutes from me.....via freeway though.

I live in a suburb of Detroit. I have worked in downtown Detroit for over 30 years.

hartford and springfield are the closest to me, but springfield is about 3 hours away and hartford probably about 3 hours and half to 4 hours...so no worries for me :D

Lots of traffic tonight, Dan? ;) Couldn't believe the traffic when I picked up DS and stopped at a gas station.

Closest here would be Richmond, VA and then DC.

Used to live by Detroit.

I'm glad I moved. :)

I'm across the border but live only an hour from Detroit.

Compton, CA is about 45 minutes away...not that I have any reason to go there!

Yep, Washington, D.C. and Baltimore are to the north of me, and Richmond is to the south. Looks like I'm sandwiched in!

Richmond is the closest. About 15 minutes away. DC is next.

We live about 8 miles from Hartford (No. 7), but i would say that I do not feel unsafe at all. Hartford is a relatively small city (in narea and population) so its crime rate is exaggerated. DW's job takes her all over the city and she is careful but she is not scared to drive there. The problem is mostly in the northendm so we do not go there.

Also, in our town, you can still leave your doors unlocked during the day and your car open in parking lots without a problem. So I would not put much weight in these listings. Jay

Could be. :scratchin You do learn what areas of a city to avoid. Even when I lived in Boca Raton, FL we had notices come from the Sheriff's office that they would hold a class in our development due to a home invasion. :earseek: I can tell you I no longer left my doors wide open after that! :faint: Could be anywhere at any time. And it was a gated/guarded community.
