Toontown characters . . . all day?

Are the Toontown characters there all day or is it hit or miss? We will be getting to MK our first day about 3 and I was wondering if we could expect to find characters over in Toontown. My DD7 has never been and I think it would be great to use our first afternoon letting her stand in awe of the castle, get some autographs and maybe ride a couple of the classics like IASW or HM. I mostly wanted to know if Mickey and his friends will be around all day or are they there only at certain times? Thanks!

Mickey is always in the judges tent at toontown. Just walk through his house and it'll lead you there.

There are also characters at the Toontown Hall of Fame. (I think that's what it's called) Be warned though, the lines can get really long here. We've waited hours to meet the princesses before. If you're wanting some good one on one time with the characters, you should schedule a character meal!

A great spot for characters is at Epcot's Character Spot. You get many of the big names and the lines are not as short. This year we ment the following there:
Mickey
Minnie
Donald
Pluto
Goofy
Chip and Dale

I agree, we love Epcot's Character Spot. We have met all of the same as you except Chip and Dale. We also met Belle there, she was greeting people as they walked in.

We always to the Toontown characters right when it opens to avoid crowds. I was thinking of doing this in the evening this year. We are going at the beginning of December. How bad are the lines in the evening?

We were there last week. In the morning, the lines in toon town for the princesses was about 30 min, Donald/Goofy/Pluto was about 15 min and Mickey was always 45-60 min (we never saw him). We waited about 10 min for Aladdin/Jasmine in Adventure land and 10 min for Ariel as well...but her lines get much longer later in the day. We had the best luck in Animal Kingdom...5-10 min waits for Donald/Daisy, Goofy and Minnie, about 20 for Mickey and we walked right up to Pocahontas twice.

We went in the evening and waited for over an hour to see the princesses, no joke. The lines for the other characters weren't as bad though.

If you get to Toontown as soon as it opens, the lines aren't bad. Also, when it's closing down for the night is a great time to hit TT.

The princess line is usually the longest. Thankfully the wait time is displayed at the beginning of the line so there are no surprises. :)

Don't be fooled, it's not always accurate. It said 35 minutes for us. There was some sort of huge hold up, we sat still in the same place 30 minutes, and when we would catch a cm and ask them about it, their reply was always "about 20 more minutes." Yeah, right! My girls ended up falling asleep in the line, and when we woke them to meet the princesses, they were too grouchy to have anything to do with them. Maybe I went on a bad day, but I'll never go back there! We just schedule character meals for meeting the princesses now! :)

I used to work as a character greeter (well, now they are called character attendants) at WDW and worked TT too many times to count. The system is better in some ways now than it was back when I worked there. I'm also good friends with a CM who used to work at the front of the line and they don't (as far I as know) have any communication with the rooms, so if there is an issue, they may not know. The CM probably was judging by where you were in line when he/she told the wait time. There have been times that the room has been shut down due to circumstances beyond anyone's control.

Can't tell you for sure why it took so long the day you were there. It wasn't January 30, 2008 by any chance?

No, it was August 3, 2006. I think it had something to do with too many people being let into the room, or something like that. I can't really remember.

Thanks for all the helpful responses. There is almost no chance we will be there at a 10 opening. Even later in the vacation when we come back to MK for the day we have plenty of other things on our list. We mostly just wanted to kill that first afternoon. I think we will take our chances and see what kind of lines they have. If they are terrible, we will go elsewhere. If not too bad, then we will wait and get autographs. Any we don't get, we can probably find elsewhere. It will all be a new experience for my DD so whatever we can do will be great for her.

I seem to remember that on our first trip we went during a parade and the lines were shorter then. Maybe someone can confirm that they meet all day including during the parades?

Does Toontown close at park closing, or earlier? Is it open (with characters there) during evening emh? As well as my 4 yr old, I have 2 teens, so I know there will be some late nights:)

Don t forget the toontown trainstation behind mkickey judge tent from 10:30-11:20 some rare character appear there.

Donald, for the most part, is not at Character Spot (as he is in Mexco).

I think the secret is out on that. I stopped by Toontown today, about 10:07am. And the line for the princesses was over an hour long! And it had only been open for 7 minutes!

Toontown opens at 10am, and closes about 10pm or so. It is not open for EMH (the characters, anyway).

Are they using all 3 rooms yet in TT? When we went last November only 2 rooms were being used. One for the Princesses and the other for Donald, Daisy, Minnie, etc. The middle room was closed down. The CM in one of the room said that exciting changes were coming. Of course, she could not/would not elaborate.

Just curious, any changes?
