Good pair of sissors (cutterbee)
cutting mat
xato knife (or cutterbe type)
ruler
bone folder
paper piercer
Zig glue
crop-a-dile (for setting eyelets)
Basic set of coloring pencils
Zig pens
I still need a bone folder. I am missing fingernail matter on the top of my nail from using that to crease with.
If you get the crop-a-dile you don't need the separate hole punch/eyelet setter thing. You can't get as far into the paper with the crop-a-dile, but you can cut a hole through much thicker paper than with the other thing.
I find I use different glue on different things. I don't like the zig pens myself, because I can't figure out to keep the pen nib from not drying up on me. I like the Scotch Quick Dry liquid for small or very curly items. I like the tombow (and generics) tape runners for long or large items that I just need the corners or edges stuck down.
Guillotine I have my own pet names for alot of the products, but that's a good one! Non CM users, it's the Personal Trimmer!!! This could be a bad thread for me to read. Cuz I sure have a whole lot more than these necessary items. And I can't justify any of them as MUST haves, only "I really wants"
Seriously? It's not called that.
I swear this whole time I thought that was what that style was called. You have the rotary/spinning blade, the sliding/razor blade, and the swing down arm/guillotine kind. I think that all the main manufactures use one of those three kinds. Each one is good in its own way.
But I do feel like I need a croissant when I chop down a photo.
paper trimmer (12 x 12 if you only want to own one)
journaling pens (black to start with if you just want one)
good scissors (like Cutterbees)
adhesive (both tape runner type and wet glue like Zig)
pencil and white eraser (not those icky erasers on top of the pencil)
good metal ruler (so you don't cut it by accident)
X-acto knife (although I scrapped for years without one)
cutting mat (unless you want to ruin your table)
UN-DU (need I say more?)
trash basket
I would classify all of those listed above as a good "starter" list. It would be hard to do even the basics without most of those items. For those moving up to the "next" level I would suggest...
Xyron sticker maker (don't know how I lived so long without mine!)
additional types of adhesives (glue dots come to mind)
punches (basics like squares and circles are invaluable)
corner rounder (I think that the CM one is best)
brads and eyelets (they add so much pizzaz and take up very little space and $$)
anywhere hole punch (for above mentioned items)
a committed storage unit, either movable or stationery. (I think most people start out storing their stuff in a rolling cart... I started out using a milk crate)
alphabet stickers and rub-ons
I do minimal card making so I can't comment on things that might be specific to that craft. HTH..................P
